It really is not that bad, basically the same questions as before only now you have to answer all of the sections, and there is a help section (as posted above) that should help with your queries for each page i.e
hi all can anybody tell me what do i put for restricted area and permitted place on visa form, also any suggestions for referees in india it,s my first trip and i,m a bit confused many thanks
Look at the help item No 10:-
10. Select either Yes or No if you intend to travel to Andaman-Nicobar Islands or Sikkim region specifically in India. There will be an additional fee for charged for this option.
Most people will answer no drop down box & then NA for the permitted places unless travelling there.
i am dreading doing our applications this year
Nothing to fear.
Mids post is very concise (great post by the way) ... follow the step by step procedure and you will be fine.
I would not be wary of the postal service if you just remember to make sure that you select the BEST service from the Post Office to send.
I have seen the visa application service package passports at their end and they are well covered/posted.
i apply online, fill in the form, take copy, pay online or send bankers draft with passport, make note of reference no's etc, send copy and passport to which ever office, if i wish to collect it in person ???
do i wait for them to give me an appointment to collect?
or have to call or email them to make an appointment to collect visa/passport?
I read on another forum that if you are applying for a tourist visa (applies to most here), you can fill in India Referees with NA. Please do not take this is a definite as I have not tried this myself.
I believe you can NA the Sponsor but not the actual referees, 2 Indian referees required.

Are you doing a postal application, or part postal & collect in person?
If you want to collect in person you can go as per Return of Passports help:-
** Edit to remove copyright material. Please post a link instead. luci HT Mod **
For apply online & submit in person you will have the option of booking appointment during application to attend and submit in person, but you will still need to re attend
to collect your passport with visa in 48 hours (unless posted back)
Hope this helps
Mids
thank you for all your help, so i can send my passport and copy of application, and then go and collect it? or as we only have 3 weeks in the UK do you think it would be wiser to take it there and collect later??? i know it means 2 trips but if it means we get the visas within that period of time so be it.
You can send it by special delivery post with return special delivery envelopes. It seems to be a pretty quick turnaround at the moment, within a week.

read the comments at the bottom of the article!!!
I believe they should bring back the visa surgeries (but will they listen) at least this will give some ease to the congestion that will increase within the coming weeks as people return from there summer holidays and will then apply for there visas, I can see this site on meltdown with questions and answers, and looking at some posts trying to contact the visa application centre looks fruitless....jxk8
http://www.indian-visa.co.uk you can find the new form there, we used these last year, you can download the form fill it in by hand and post it to them, they will do everything else,
cost £39.04 visa plus their fee, i rang them other day for help with form no problems,
Hi, new visas, if you go to cost £39.04 visa plus their fee, i rang them other day for help with form no problems,
Thanks for that PL , a little more expensive but may save a lot of hassle
That`s a very tough situation to find yourself in
Having just read through all these posts, I think we will go to Thailand or Malaysia instead next winter, which is a pity as I only started going to Goa 2 years ago and love it, but with all this hassle and the fact i live in Spain (yes I know that's my choice), and cannot come to the UK for an unknown amount of time - last year my friends took my passport to the UK at Christmas, went to HCI on Christmas Eve and brought my passport back to Spain three days later. Maybe things will get better, we'll hold fiire for the moment, as also the package prices seem to have shot up as well
Are you not able to get your visa through an Indian Embassy/Consulate/High Commission in Spain?
I am British but resident in Germany, and get my visa from Munich, just need to show or send my residence permit as well as my passport, I wouldn't consider going back to the UK to apply.
In fact this year I'm glad to be here, as it's still business as usual, no New Procedure.
x lassi
Lassi - i had considered that, but the postal 'system' locally is terrible, I've even had a registered letter go missing, but I'll look into it again if we decide to go. Thanks anyway
Liz. My inlaws live in Spain and came to Goa with us in March this year. They got their visas from the embassy in Spain and it went quite smoothly as far as I know. Let me know if you decide to do that and I'll get some info from them for you.
I have just done my visa online and sent it of so lets hope it all goes ok i will let you no how long it takes and if i have filled it out ok.
