Thanks for letting us know..
We'll give it a miss next time we're there.
Just 13 sleeps to go before we are back in Bitez and I have, finally, made the most important purchase for my hols. .......THE HAT!!!!!! Can't go without one - how would anyone know it's me?! Also bought a pair of linen shorts for £2.49!! Put the two together and you couldn't miss me if you tried!
Good price for the shorts, but....are you going to let the whole of Bitez see your legs?
LOL Marn.
The hat is floppy, the usual black and 'off' white - 'Sir' wanted me to get the one I tried on in BHS because it was so big it covered my whole face! Not sure what he is trying to say.
We will look out for the hat Prawn.
Don't want to hijack the thread Prawn, but my shorts were only £1.50 in tescos sale.
Hope to see you, Kadi - sounds like there will be a few HTers there at the same time. Could try for a take over bid!
Did not mention about the last time we were there...
Outside the Mayflower (when we passed on a couple of nights )the waiters were all lined up dancing with young girls you had to dodge to try and get past them. They were taking all the pavement up, never seen anything like it in Bitez before!!! I thought I was in Marmaris
Since we got back, I have read on the other forum that it got shut down for a few days there is also a video on Ewe Tube showing them. It will be interesting to see if they are still doing it when we go back.
When all the restaurants were given a letter by the council (in July) over hassle etc we were taking bets on who would be made an example of... we thought either The Sultan or Golden Spoon but it looks like The Mayflower got it.
We'll look out for you, when we're over.
16 more sleeps!
Prawn - do you look like your Avatar?
Prawn does- in a way - look like her avatar. But much nicer, of course. I'm sure you two will get along great. Pat has a dry sense of humour, which I am sure you will appreciate. SIR will just observe. Very nice people.
Bags are partly packed, everything else on hangers in the spare room. I have to keep putting things back in my wardrobe to even think about being inside the weight limits. 'Sir' , as Marn said, is just observing - but it is what he does best!!
Your cases must be fully packed now!!!
Had a few texts from Bitez and the weather is still scorching. The locals are praying for the rain they say it is unbearable to work in. :sun2 (gotta be better than our crappy weather)
On a sad note we heard this morning that the missing Irish man has still not been found yet.
We are over next Sunday and will look out for you, wish we were there for a month.
I know you and Sir will have a wonderful holiday.
Marn, to quote John Denver "All my bags are packed and I am ready to go..." Will give your love to 'you know who'!! Take care of yourselves and will get in touch when we get back.
The weather was fab... much better than our July visit which was unbearably hot.
After all the years we have visited Turkey we finally had our first Turkish bath!!! We had the full works at The Bronze Hotel and were there for a few hours it cost 50 Lira each and was worth every penny.
I printed and handed out the "Price report" that Turkishvisitor wrote on here to a few places along the front and they went down like a lead balloon!!! they did not want to know, but I do know the front restaurants are feeling the pinch this year.
Once again we had excellent meals at "The Sultan" but they are not the flavour of the month (excuse the pun) with the other restaurants along the front if fact they are really angry because "The Sultan"were giving EVERYONE "20% off their bills. Why they don't just drop it off their menu prices I don't know.
Thanks to good reports on this forum we tried The Pedesa again (went years ago and hated it) it is run by differant people now... lovely food and very very cheap!!!
We met Prawn and Sir and had a drink with them at First Stop and what a lovely couple they are!!!
Our usual lift service from the airport put their price up by £30 return so we won't be using them again. I think we will try Proper Cars they seem to have a good name for our next visit in 12 days can't wait!!!
Stayed at the paloma bitez apartments, not recommended... see report.
We met up with Prawn and Sir as arranged (for those who are curious, Sirs' name is known to me, but if I disclose it I will have to kill you) but missed meeting My heart belongs to Kadi although Prawn met us afterwards and told us that they had met up.
Best restaurant this year was Sultans where we ate most nights, most annoying waiters were at CJ's where Charlie got very much in wifes face becasue we didn't eat there.
I have been offered a job on the beach for next year holding down the sunbeds as I did such a good job this year
weather just turned iffy for last two days, with a really good thunderstom (or so I was told , as I slept through it) and as we left the airport to fly home it was pouring down.
Ready for next year already I presume that is Charlie who used to be at Manuela..................hmnn thats annoying if he is doing that.
so we got a taxi to bitez and wish that we'd booked to stay here.
During the day we just went straight to the beds on the beach in front of the lemon tree bar, and the lads were reall good with us.
Even keeping 4 beds at one side for us each day.
We ate here and found it ok, and spent one great night on the beach, watching the fireworks.
would highly recommend the lemon tree
We did look in at "The Blue Moon" but did not see you. If you ate at "The Sultan" we must have brushed shoulders at some time. Did you sunbathe there?
Are you sure it was Charlie that got in your wifes face at C.Js? he is usually very laid back and quiet... never known him to be pushy. What did the guy look like? We are going to have a word with them next week when we go back... over an incident my sister had with a member of staff there (she came home at the week-end after spending three weeks there) Also one member of staff got funny with us on our last night because we had not visited them!!!
P.S. If you need a hand with the sunbeds next year give us a shout.
We ate at Sultans most nights so if you saw a couple of middle aged porkers talking a lot to Tommy (Ali), Jesus and Hassan, usually sat on the front row then that was probably us.
Sunbathed there a few days, usually near the path on the cushions/ swings.
I was usually wearing either yellow or brown swim shorts and a multi coloured striped shirt with an I-pod stuck in my ear.
we were in sultans the night it rained, if that jogs a memory.
I would post a pic of me, but don't want to frighten any nervous readers on the site
As far as CJ's is concerend. the guy introduced himself as Charlie and a smaller guy was called John (I assume these two are C and J.
Charlie was slim aged about mid 30's at a guess and about 5ft 8 tall. Very nice at first but continued to tell me that I was on holiday and should try many resaurants and not use the same one all the time.
Didn't bother me too much but upset the wife who got to worry about walking past him each evening.
One couple we had been talking to in Sultans witnessed his chat as we were leaving and said that they had the same problem with him at Manuelas in the past.
He was no problem after wife made her feelings known!!
Not a big deal worth bothering with and next year we will probably eat there one night anyway, we would have done this year but got settled in Sultans for the times we ate in bitez, although we did try a couple of others and actually didn't eat out at all for two nights.
So it was Charlie bit shocked over that... they are a great bunch of lads know them years. But I hate to think we have to eat at their restaurants to make them happy.
Like you, our favourite place on the front is "The Sultan" they give us a lift home from the beach and Ibo took us shopping to Kippa last visit. Hasan will not be there next year we will really miss him!!! if fact they all have a fantastic S.O.H. They would also kill for our chocolate so we try and take a bag over for them. Jesus must be the best looking guy in Bitez.... we love it when all the girls swoon over him and pull his leg!!!
We left before the rain came but my sister had her Ruby Anniversary there on the 12th banners balloons fireworks does that ring a bell?
P.S ( I do know Sirs name!!!)
From a mans point of view.................there are a couple of waiters there that I would imagine girls would find more attractive than Jesus!
(not that i would know, you understand )
