As far as I'm aware Glynis, the whole complex is now called the Club Caleta Dorada and is under one management company and is sold mainly to First Choice customers. From what I can gather from previous posts/reviews, the complex is divided into A, B and C sections; A & B are what used to be the Caleta Amarilla and the C section is what used to be the Caleta Dorada. Any visitors from the Summer 2006 season onwards would be allocated to A, B or C section rather than the old names of the separate locations. Hope this is helpfulwould it be appropriate to rename each hotel as Caleta Dorada complex Caleta Amarilla Apartments and Caleta Dorada Complex Caleta Dorada Apartments or have these names gone?

Yes that's spot on
Anyone been here over Christmas? If so, what's it like? Thinking of booking a week cos the price is quite good. Thanks in advance. Gx
The food is okay, it's not amazing but certainly edible. Because it is an exclusive unit for FC in the summer they cater for the UK's usual guests: chips with everything and not a lot of flavour!
It used to be two complexes, the Caleta Amarilla and the Caleta Dorada and now has merged with a new reception. The former Amarilla blocks are being upgraded at the moment.
It's a short walk into town, it's a short journey from the airport and it's very popular. Flights come into FUE on Wed and Sat, not just Sat.
If you want a hotel, book a hotel. If you want gourmet cuisine, book a 4*. If you want peace and quiet, then go to Jandia.
If you book 3* AI Late Choice you will come here. If you book 3* SC Late Choice you will be at the Caleta Garden, not here.
Stomach bugs can be brought over from the UK and stay in your system from anything from 7 days to 10 weeks. If there was a stomach bug caused in a hotel with buffet food, then tens if not hundreds of people would come down with it, not just one or two. A viral stomach bug is nothing to do with the food and spreads faster. If you have vomiting and diorrhea for 3 days, then it might be food poisoning, you need to get it confirmed by a doctor who sends a sample away for analysis. They cannot tell you straight away, and most doctors will shout gastro! and then put you on a drip, cos they can charge your insurance company for it. If you have a squirty bum for 24 hours, it is a stomach bug. You can even get diorrhea from dehydration. And there was no outbreak of a rash caused by bacteria in the pool, it was caused by wet clothing rubbing on skin. I get it when I go running. I sometimes get it between my thighs but usually on my upper body. It's called runner's nipple.
My family and I have just got back from this hotel and had no problems while we were there. Food was brill in first week but you get sick of same type of things. We eat in town about 3 times during the fortnight so it wasnt as bad as some people make out. Apartment was fine no complaints yes there is alot of ants but thats to be expected. I woke up New Years Day with a hangover and ants in my bed!! Hotel supplied some ant spray and we just sprayed apartment every other night on way out. There were the odd few complaining about the ants but what do you expect in that type of climate. I heard about two breakins when I was there but was told by a rep that a number of thefts was by holidaymakers! The reps were brill kids loved it and I would go back. Pool was icy but this didnt deter kids!!
can any one tell me if there is an internet cafe at this complex
can any one tell me if there is an internet cafe at this complex
There were a couple of terminals in 2005 but when we were there in oct 2006 , they had been removed , however there is a net cafe in the town
there are now two internet stations, hidden around the side of the reception. €1 for 10 minutes.
is there a tobaco shop near this complex and how much are the cigarettes and tobacco
Caleta Amarilla = Club Caleta Dorada Complex A &B
Caleta Dorada - Club Caleta Dorada Complex C
Or is this going to be too confusing?
The Caleta Amarilla no longer exists, it is now part of the Caleta Dorada. Probably best to leave things as they are, as there probably won't be any new reviews for the Caleta Amarilla in future, and any posts/reviews which do come up with the Caleta Amarilla name would probably be best merged with Caleta Dorada posts. I always look for new reviews for Caleta Amarilla but there hasn't been any posted on any forum anywhere since last Spring. I think it would be a bit confusing if people have to put their reviews in a seperate section depending on which area of the complex they were staying in.Or is this going to be too confusing?
8 weeks tonight I'll be doing my last bit of packing Looking forward to it now!
hi susan54321, I went to caleta dorada in june 2005, and there is a tabaccinst shop in the town which is about 10 minuets walk. the price of cigarettes , we paid 1.400 euros for 200.That was in 2005 maybe the price has gone up now, hopefuly some who is not an anti smoker might be able to tell you the they are charging for 2007
Just looking through the latest edition brochure and it says "Unlimited locally produced Wine, Beer, Gin, Rum, Brandy, Vodka and Whisky", is that all they have on all-inclusive? Other places we've been they've had stuff like cheapo Tia Maria, Bacardi, various Schnapps-type drinks... ?
they did all types of alcholic drinks own brand versions tia miaria schnapps and all you regular ones too only one type of beer though
3 weeks tonight and we'll be there
I'm a new poster on here, though i've been looking since I booked my hols. Just wondered if anyone else is going at Easter? We're going on 28th March with my 3 girls (3, 6 & 12). Quite looking forward to it now, after initially wondering whether to change it!! Hope it's going to be good - the weather is looking quite good at the moment
Lisa
Just noticed you're going a few days after us (we fly on the Wednesday). Hope it'll be nice I'm bad and taking the kids out of school a couple of days before the hols. How old are yours?
Lisa
We'll be there for 2 weeks and planning to go on a few excursions to break up the the time a bit. Kids are mega excited now (and me too...) We've booked a 2-bed apartment, which I believe are all near the main pool and entertainment bar.
At the moment I'm sitting looking at the snow outside and comforting myself with the thought of lovely Canary sunshine in 12 days time
Does anyone know if the Caleta Dorada has any of those visiting sales reps doing the aloe vera suncreams? I've got some already but I'd like to get some more.
Save us some sunbeds!
Jo x
The reps for these creams were definately there last summer in August - not sure about now though.
Enjoy your time there & remember that a holiday is what you make it!!!
Bye
Do they still have wobbly paper cups (as stated on some of the reviews I've seen)? Do they mind if you take a more sturdy vessel to the bar and ask them to fill it?
