Hello again!

Wondered if any one can tell me a few things....

1. Do I need to take a towel with me to this hotel or will they supply them?
2. Do we need to take a kettle (we're in a standard room)
3. Do they have hairdryers in the rooms and do they work ok?

I think thats all for now, though Im sure some other things will crop up nearer the time!

Thanks

You don't need to take towels for room, beach or pool, they're all supplied.

If you're in a standard room then you'll need to take a travel kettle.
I'd also take plenty of tea bags, coffee, sugar and whitener.

There are hairdryers in the bathroom, not sure how effective they are though as I didn't use ours.

One more question Pippy, if I may. How deep is the water at the end of the jetty?. I tend to prefer it a little deeper as it tends to be clearer!! How exciting! Thanks

I'm not sure exactly how deep the water is at that point, but it is deep if you know what I mean!

Beautifully clear too

If you look underneath the jetty you'll see the lion fish hiding.

Thanks Pippy, I think I know what you mean by deep!....I dont like it when its so shallow that sand gets 'kicked up' and you cant see what you're doing. So excited about the lion fish....one fo the few fishes Ive not seen yet in egypt!...just dont want to get stung by them, its not likely to happen as we get in the sea from the jetty is it?! Must revise the treatment as well, hot water I beleive? (I'll look pretty silly if I dont know, Im a nurse!!!) Cheers again for your help. what a wealth of knowledge! :D

I guarantee you'll see them in the sea at The Conrad!

Take a walk along the jetty at sunrise and you'll see the lion fish out hunting!
I don't know what time the sun will rise when you're there, it was about 06.00 when we were there late July/early August (I set the date wrong on my camera, we were there from 28th July for two weeks) last year.

Worth getting up early to see THIS and these...

Later on in the day they were mainly to be found underneath the jetty.

Hi Bubblegirl

You will enjoy the snorkelling at the end of the jetty, its amazing. It tends to be around 3-4 m at the end of the jetty just as you jump in. it does slope away and the sandy area just off this is 12.4m. When i was out there last week the temperature at this depth was about 28C, just like swimming in your bath water !!.

The temp in the direct sunlight was at least 62C (my dive comuter melted at this point !!) and temp in the shade was high 30's low 40's (feels freezing now that we are back home).

The marine life off the jetty is amazing and I noticed that the lion fish had grown this year.

Enjoy your holiday

Thanks Altoman! Sounds hot!!! Hottest Ive acheived there is 52 degrees so you beat me! Should be in the 30's when I go in september so that'll be nice!

A point to note. When we left the Conrad last week, the manager gave us a hotel business card. On the back was the HT address and we were encouraged to post comments about the hotel, good or bad.
needless to say we put him right that we already did so.

That's interesting to know!
Was HT's address already printed or had it been hand written?

hi Pippy

the adress was printed on it, I think it was a sticker that had been put onto the business card, so looks like they watch the forum and take note.

A long time ago, before I stayed there last year, I sent an email to the hotel as I was concerned about the building work (which didn't bother us in the slightest in the end).
I received a reply and was asked where I'd heard about the building work, I sent them HT's address and the (then) manager joined the forum shortly after (I believe he's now at the Coral Sea Resort as he often posts to help members in that topic).

I guess hotel staff have been reading the forum since then.

I've nothing but praise for The Conrad and can't wait to return next year!

We are the same, last year and this we emailed the hotel requesting to have rooms together for the sake of the boys and since we liked the location of the rooms last year we asked to be in the same area this year, needless to say we had very good rooms again this year (1162 and 1163).

They are still doing building work and I must say I tried really hard to hear it but couldn't.

My only comment this year is that I wish there had been a better selection of food for kids as I have a very fussy 12 year old, in saying that when we asked for something else this was not a problem and he was able to have chips anytime. The pizza at 11am goes down a treat with him, the pastries at the beach bar at 4pm were great fro just after a dive. No wonder we are going back as well as a few others who were there at the same time.

Think I recognise those room numbers, are they the ones outside the Italian restaurant? If so, no wonder you didn't hear the building work, if you didn't hear the disco. or does that mean they have done something about the (excessive) Disco noise now?
Reply
We were closer to the beach than we were to the Italian restaurant. we never heared the disco and the only woeful sounds that could be heard were from those guests who thought that they could sing at the karaoke. Their singing got worse as the progressed and they had more to drink, they obviously thought they were getting better. :yikes :rofl Even then it didn't bother us as our attitude is that everyone is on holiday and deserves to have fun, it mostly finished by midnight anyway.

I've just booked for December! It's a 'big birthday' for me this year and I could not believe what a fantastic priced deal we got to go here for the week.
We short-listed about 5 hotels, read the reviews here and other sites, and then read through the various threads but this one was the one which had us both grinning.
Know it won't be uber-hot but with temps about 20 degrees in December that'll suit us fine.
Anyone been at start of December? What's it like? I'm just so excited now!
