There was lots of Italians there when we went at the end of November, beginning of December. You wont hardly see them as they have their own resturant the same size as the main one, their own stretch of beach with the Italian animation team, and their own ampitheatre type entertainment area near the beach with 24 young italians in the animation team!.You can watch it if you want but unless you understand the language its pointless. The entertainment was dire to say the least. There was only a whirling man and folk dancers. The disco is OK if the DJ keeps the music down to an acceptable level. This is right next door to the new block and as they leave the doors open the music filters to nearby rooms. We went to Naama bay most evenings.I think the hotel maybe popular with the Italians because their tour company operate a Mar Blau Club which gives them entertainment all day and on an evening.Probably similar to Thomson Gold or My travels Sun Centres.

Got to say that the whirling dervish was very impressive. the only problem being that the act was in the bar which is small and enclosed and so veryhard to get a position of decent view. rest of the entertainment was poor apart from the quiz where a certain team set a new record...

Still have the unopened bottle of vodka here on the mantel.

Just got back on Thursday and had such an amazing time I will definitely be returning to the Conrad. I will post a full hotel review asap but leecockle I just wanted to let you know that the premium Jacuzzi rooms are lovely. They are at the Baron Hotel end of the hotel so furthest away from the Disco, although occasionally you could hear a very quite din this was never a problem. Situated right on the beach with your own little patio and an amazing view, you couldn't really ask for more. With regards to entertainment we only participated in this twice, once to see the spinning man in the lobby bar who was very impressive and once to enter the quiz night in the Disco. Happily we won and received a 1/2 day trip to Tiran Island as our prize, would also recommend this, you get to see some wrecks literally sitting on the water and we were also lucky enough to see dolpins!

Also just to clarify about the evenings we either got a cab or the shuttle bus provided by the hotel into Naama Bay or just had a quiet drink in the bar.

hi hoping you guys can help me out with some info....i was wondering what types pf food exactly does the conrad serve ? As my bf is a very fussy eater and im afraid he'll starve within the 10 days!
Also, has anyone had any issues with people at the airport recently? ie taking bags and asking for money to take them to the bus, if so wot is the best way to deal with this?

Occasionally you could here a faint noise but really nothing to worry about, really not worth mentioning actually....

I believe most if not all the rooms have their own patio/terrace ours being a sea view had just that. Upon opening the patio doors you have your own little patio with a table and some chairs, directly in front of that is a flower bed and then directly in front of that is a walk way and then directly in front of that is the beach. Literally walking out of your room onto the beach will take all of 5 seconds, perfectly appointed.

The Jacuzzi is just a normal bath with jets built in, I wouldn't really say that this was worth it to be honest but it's nice as a special treat. We shall definitely return to the Conrad but we shall probably just book a standard room with a sea view as we had a quick peek at one of these and they also look nice, just not as large and the furniture is older.

I didn't think much of the daytime snacks but then really I was never hungry enough after breakfast and lunch to really care. From what I saw these were pastries on the pool bar at about 4:00. If you think you'd like a snack I would recommend you take your own stash as the sweets/chocolates & crisps are expensive.

I will try and post some snaps later.

The food is lovely with lots of choice, I think your boyf would find it very difficult to starve  Everynight there is a different theme, Mexican - Chilli /Egyptian - kebabs /Italian - pizza+pasta etc etc... Alongside the themes there were always the same stables, salads, cheeses, soups, breads, pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables etc. They always mixed up the variations so that you didn't end up with the same foods everyday. On the week we stayed we had chips, sauted potatoes, burgers, kebabs, beef goulash that was delicious, chicken dishes, pasta..oh so much I can hardly remember! All very delicious though which I was actually very surprised about to be honest.......

When we arrived at the airport I thought First Choice were very well organised, they had a broken line of reps directing you to your coach. When we got there the driver was just standing there and a man was loading on the suitcases asking for £1 a bag, my boyf said that he would do this himself but he insisted so we just let him and gave him £2. I would normally argue over something like this but after travelling all day thought I really would rather part with £2 and have my luggage safely travelling with me then for it to 'go astray'...... My advice to you would be to just keep some pound coins handy and just give it them.

Sorry I'll just add that we didn't give up our cases to anyone else or take a trolley. We only let the man at the coach handle them and paid him £1 per case. With regards to the other men just smile and say no thank you.

Hi Hempo :wave

I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday as much as I did! :D
I've just read your review...isn't the beach amazing!

Eclipse/FC are (I believe) releasing their S07 holidays on the 12th. If they're online on Friday night, we'll be booking then to go back to the Conrad next year :hyper
We'll probably book the first two weeks of the summer holidays, very end of July. That's when we went last year and the weather was superb, sea as warm as a bath! :sun

He's not the most inventive of eaters then beckybb?? Each to their own.
Personally, I love trying all the local and national foods whenever I go somewhere. I think it gives a better appreciation of the local culture.

I'm sure a burger or two will come into it at some point though.
Role on the Conrad in less than a week!

pippy can you put on a post when the eclipse brochure comes out please ?
I am one of those anoraks who needs to book early so I know when i am going and to have plenty of time to find the money. We are considering marsa Alam next year but there is not a lot of info. coming through and what is there suggests it may be too quiet. Still the Conrad is not a bad failsafe option.

They're online now for S07 Altoman!

At the moment, I can only access July '07 via the fast booking section on the right hand side of the main page.

Got the brochure today, good prices for the Conrad also like the look of the LTI Grand Azure. Already driving a hard bargain have shaved £300 off the price and still working on it !!!

Currently Conrad around £3,500 for 5 adults. £3,700 for us to go to Grand Azure (child prices up to age 14 here!) Hope to shave another £200 off.

Away to have a look at the reviews for the Grand Azure on this site.
