well wont go near coral dnt fancy hosptial treatment.ha ha we going june 8th cant wait. glad its shallow just see few fish in the waters. as first time to a clear sea rather than crete, greece etc. lol

Be careful walking into the sea Lee. last year we spotted a stonefish in shallow water at the side of the jetty. as you will have seen elsewhere, they are not easy to spot and can give you a sore one which can be serious.

I receive a card from Eclipse today telling me the Eclipse summer '07 brochure will be on it's way to me soon!
We will be booking to go the first two weeks of the summer holidays next year, right at the end of July.
I'm getting excited already.......ridiculous!

I am one of those anoraks who needs to book early so I know when i am going and to have plenty of time to find the money. We are considering marsa Alam next year but there is not a lot of info. coming through and what is there suggests it may be too quiet. Still the Conrad is not a bad failsafe option.

hi pippy, havn't posted on hear for a while, are you going back to the conrad this year or have you booked elsewhere. we are going to the laguna vista in august, but our son who came with us last year is off to conrad in 9 weeks with a friend, he can't wait. all thoes going to the conrad this year dont worry about anything you will have a great time. pippy is right the beach and see are to die for, the beach bar was pretty good to.

Leecockle, you will have to learn to snorkel even if it is just to get your head in the water. The fish are mostly out over the rocks etc so you get the best view by laying in the water just watching them. My non swimmers just did the same at the end of the jetty and held on to the ladder or the side. Well worth the effort. We bought snorkels and masks from the baron supermarket so it is worth checking their prices before you buy from the shops on the beach.

We are staying at the Conrad from 17th April for 2 weeks. This may sound like a silly question - but in the all inclusive do they have snack type foods throughout the day like chips/pizzas/burgers/doghnuts etc? Have a hungry husband to keep topped-up, and salads wouldn't do it for him!!!! x

Apparently cp, I hear your hubby is an utterly fantastic kinda' guy, a real hunk and cool dude by all accounts.

Not much luck with the snacks i'm afraid cp. last year the snacks consisted of pizza served at the pool bar between 11-12 however they tended not to last too long. in the afternoon around 4pm there were sandwiches and pastries at the pool bar.
suggest you make the most of breakfast and lunch, there is plenty of choice then plus in the heat sometimes it can be too hot to eat. however let's hope that more snacks are available this year.

I have just come back from a week in Conrad and had a fantastic time.
Ok, food at pool bar where ham baguettes, cheese baguettes, the pizza reffered to above and a very good sponge cake. So a good selection in my view.
Please remember that breakfast is served from 07:00(I think but never up that early to confirm) - 10:00, lunch was 12:00 - 15:00. A the food had excellent marks from me. Dinners where very good too.
Anyone have more questions just ask and I will do my best to reply.
P.S Look out for the young lad Mohammed who works at the Beach Bar during the day and Billard Room at night. This lad will keep your drink nicely topped!

one more question - some reviews said you can only enter the sea via the jetty - but then some people have said you can walk into the sea from the beach???? help - can you go straight in from the beach? cheers!

You can enter the sea via the beach or the jetty. In order to swim though you need to enter via the end of the jetty to avoid damaging the coral, the water is a bit too shallow for swimming properly from the beach.
If you do swim from the beach and stray anywhere near the coral, be prepared for a telling off from the staff on the beach, they will blow their whistle!

thanks pippy - i'm glad I can have a "little paddle" and cool down - will be a good girl and stay away from the coral - can u imagine getting whistled at by the lifeguards and everyone on the beach looking at you - how embarrassing would that be!!!!! 
You can also take the little white beach chairs into the shallow edge of the sea on the beach and sit and cool of with the waves lashing around your feet, which is lovely to cool down and sunbathe at the same time
