In answer to a previous question:

There was no pedalo's on the beach last year (to protect the coral I suspect), apart from snokelling there is no watersports at all on this stretch of beach, in fact it is only 6-18 inches deep for about 2-300 foot from the beach. You walk along the jetty to get to the deeper water to snorkel.

The snorkelling is amazing though & sharks bay £5 return in a taxi has all the watersports, jetski, boats, rubber rings etc..

roll on the 25th june :D
by the way f/c charge £38 to keep the room so best do it at reception

Hi Nia,

I have also booked a select room. My understanding is that you are guaranteed a sea view (good location) , The rooms are bigger , Tea / Coffee making facilities are available in the room & you get slippers and a bathrobe.

Are you sure about the Jetski's? Jetskis work very different to outboard/inboard engine boats. I actually have a jet ski and I hunted for many months for a jetski hire place in Sharm and never found one.

Hi Spinner!! Pedalos on the beach yes...jetskis at Sharks Bay..I don't remember seeing them and I can't imagine that there would be as it is where all the diving companys do their open water PADI....bit risky. Can't remember seeing Jet Skis at all, they did have doughnuts but I think they went from one of the hotels and not the beach..I did worry about the pedalos at CSR as they were going very close to the coral which is an absolute nono.. :?

Hi,

I have been flicking through the First Choice brochure for 2008 and my wife and I are very tempted by the Coral Sea Resort. We have 2 children who will be 9 & 12 next year and we were wondering what sort of entertainment there is for them.

There are no First Choice clubs but I noticed in the brochure that there is a hotel run kids club. Is it any good? How long is it open?

Any information would be gratefully received.

Hiya Duncan,

We went to the csr last october, which was out first visit to Egypt.
I can honestly, say hand on heart, it's one of the best places i have ever been, i'v been all over... Australia x 2 and the states.

CSR is brill, you wont be disapointed...everything from the staff, the rooms, the weather and food is 4*

As we went in October maybe it was a bit out of season, i never saw a kids club running.
What they did have was the first choice entertainers organising activaties thru out the day for adults and kids alike.

My kids were similar ages to yours, and they seemed happy just mixing with other kids they met. They still actually keep intouch with one of their friends.

It's a great hotel... you only have to read all the posts and reviews.
And a great many people keep returning.

I myself.. with a heavy heart.. have decided this year to go to the new first choice holiday village, which is a two minute walk away from the csr.

Is it a BIG risk..?? only time will tell.

Without doubt... book the csr...You'll love it.

Hi there, i'm arriving at the coral sea on the 24th of may and was just wondering if anyone had any infomation on the laundry service? Prices etc? Also does anyone know of any ironing facilities at the hotel? I hate those stupid travel irons. The creases just seem to stay there when i use one!! :(

Hi singleblondemum,

Thanks for the very helpful info. We have read the reviews and have been very impressed. The only thing that is stopping us from comitting is that we have to go at the end of July and we are very concerned that the kids wont take the heat. We have been to the holiday village in Turkey and are going back in July this year, so they are used to hot conditions. We have been warned that August will be unbearable in egypt with temps never dipping below 100 degrees during the day.

Thanks again.

Also anyone got any idea what time the last courtesy bus back from naama bay to the hotel is please? Thanks.

This has probably been covered previously, but do the rooms have hairdryers? I am not worried how powerful they are just need to give my hair a blast after a shower :)

Also how good is the tv? Not that we will be in there much but we have a 3 yr old boy in tow, so a childrens channel would be ideal.

I have seen the comments about sunbeds around the pools, is it really that bad, I do not fancy having to share a sunbed with my husband and little boy!!!

What about the beach is it the same problem there??

I cannot wait to go, 5 weeks on Thursday :hyper

the laundry service is really good and cheap. 60p for a pair of shorts to be washed dried and ironed. £1 for a pair of trousers. 60p each t/shirt. the laundry was collected one day and returned the next. i will definately use it again this year. my daughter sat on chewing gum at the airport on our way, she had jogging bottoms on that were sweatshirt type material, the chewing gum had gone in all the grooves but i put them in for a wash just to see. it was the best £1 i spent. not a trace of the gum was left! at home i would have ended up throwing them. they can just iron if you want too but i can't remember prices.
can't remember about the last bus time but its so cheap for a taxi as well so if its not late enough for you you can always use a taxi. the hotel runs its own taxi too and you can say what time you want bringing back and you only pay on return.

there is a hairdryer in the room, some people say its no good but i found it o.k. it dried mine fine. my staightners wern't much good though as they didn't get hot enough. the dryer is a square machine on the wall with a hose attatched. the hose got very hot to hold and i had to hold it with a small hand towel most of the time.
we went 24th may last year and had no trouble getting 4 sunbeds every day. the pool guys help you with your towels and put them where you want. they even went and got beds from the beach if needed. the only thing is that if you leave it too late to put your towels on you may not get a sun shade. the sun shade is a must! the beach was always deserted.

Had a week in CSR at Easter. Used the courtesy bus twice. Last bus back from Naama Bay was midnight. Charge was one British Pound each way. Great value.

Hiya Duncan.

I totally agree with you, that august is a very hot time to be in Egypt,
i personally wouldnt go July / August

One of the things that most people worry about is dehydation,
so people tend to pump water down them selves and their kids,
but this has an adverse effect...resulting in the trots (poos)

There are sooo many reports of tummy bugs, but i personally think its TOO MUCH water, espeically from the water fountains,
nothing to do with ice in drinks or with the food at the csr.
I'm sure theres a lot of people on this forum who will agree with me.

Anyway...my advise would be to you is...
as your not planning on booking anything quite yet, why dont you wait for the holiday village reviews to come in...opening date is June 14th.
There are some pics (un-finished state) posted on the photo galleries.
