Well I leave next Thursday for my Cruise on the Destiny ..Moorish Delights.. anyone else going on that cruise??
What fantastic news, people getting their cruises without having to resort to court action. Hopefully lots more of those still waiting will now be settled and I might not be sailing alone on 5th June Island Escape.
Today I received a letter offering me a choice of 4 cruises with Island Cruises in the Med. The dates are 12, 15,19,22,29th May 5th June and 30th October Fuel supplement of £45 to be paid by me.
Working for the NHS I have to give at least one months notice of leave so can only consider 30th October. I was amazed at being offered a cruise at last, however on principle not sure if I should stick out for the Caribbean Cruise which I was originally offered!
My thanks to Raych, Wallecan and IvanM for their individual help and of course this site.
Watchdog tonight. They just featured a lady who had managed to get her cruise after initially being turned down.
The cruise offer was mentioned briefly on
At last Just been offered a cruise with a choice of dstes in May, June and 90th Oct, as i have to give some notice to my employer i can only go on 30th Oct, have to pay fule supplement, pay £10 for in flight meal if i want one. The cruise is on the Island Escape, Has anyone else been offered this option or been on this cruise ship before
Glad you have been offered your cruises at long last, but I do not see why you have to pay for fuel supplement etc when the original offer was a cruise for £10. It is not your fault that the offer has been delayed for so long. I also think that to expect anyone to accept a cruise with only a weeks notice is ridiculous. Seems all the Sept ones are taken. What will the Med be like at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov?
So am delighted to report that I have booked the Island Spirit Cruise on the Escape. Have had to commit to supplements like every one else but will endeavour to follow Raych's advice and claim it back.
Anyway, after three years am delighted with this happy conclusion and would like to thank everyone here for their help and encouragment along the way. I know for a fact that without this site I would not have pursued my claim for so long.
So thank you all.
Best wishes from a very happy Kate.
Enjoy!!!
We who have gone before salute you! Enjoy your cruises as you have certainly earned them. Let's hope that everyone else still waiting will be given good news in the coming weeks.
I think that the Express like the banks do not want their case tested in court.
Good on you for persevering!
Sue
I have been watching everyones progress for the last few months with interest. I have had the refusal letter after many attempts at writing and phoning and have now gone to Moneyclaim. The Express has just 'acknowledged' and I have to wait 28 days from now. I was originally offered a Carribean cruise which was cancelled due to the hurricanes in Oct, Nov, 2004 and have been dangling ever since!! I would appreciate any advice offered, as I haven't managed to read all posts!
Of course the cruises weren't cancelled because of the hurricanes. That was just an excuse used by a certain holiday company.
Hi Oxopuss, it makes me smile wryly to see the old hurricane excuse mentioned again! Brings back some memories about the early HT thread days at the start of our struggle! I am one of the lucky ones from the early days and my advice to you is 'stand up and fight'! Read back this thread for about 10 pages and you will get a good idea of what has been happening and the successes people have had! Follow their example and you will win the day! (Wallecan, Marcus, Pmad1 and Redo109 are good examples) Good Luck!
Now plan what trips to do,
THANKS FOR EVERYONES ADVICE, its only taken 3 years to get what i applied for Now lets hope i can make a successful claim to get spme of the cost back
I was also allocated a Caribbean cruise and after lots of emails and letters was finally given the REJECTION LETTER. However following others on this site I got in touch with the Legal Dept informing them of my intention to go through money claims. I have now been offered a Mediterranean cruise instead. Still contemplating my next move as most dates are for travel in less than a month and I have to give a minimum of one months notice of holiday and so only one date suitable, 30th October.
Must add that I am really pleased to be offered a cruise after all this time.
3 years and now im off!!!!! im going this afternoon ready to fly to palma 2 morrow for my long awaited cruise. COULDNT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT THE HELP OF EVERYONE ON HERE SO MANY MANY THANKS.Im sure now those still waiting must be hearing something soon ... i hope so. regards to all . elaine
