Hi Wendy
We have considered the season but I am looking at going late july around the 22nd. I have contacted a local expert for the area who has lived there 13 years and he said he has never known a problem at that time. I think I mentioned that we went to Maxico and got caught in Hurricane Wilma so we have thought hard about it. Apparently the east coast of the carribean is less likely to suffer in the hurricane season. We did get evacuated to the north of Dominican and that was having glorious weather when we arrived having spent four nights on a school floor in cancun!
It has taken abit of persuading my husband ans son that we will be fine and our son said he will take A SURVIVAL KIT!!!! I have looked at hurricane charts for the area etc and feel we will be fine. Our problem in mexico iwas that our hotel could not withstand a category 5 hurricane.

sorry i have'nt replied to your posts, but for some reason i am not getting notified of posts via email.
Well its getting close now, 5 more sleeps to go, started packing today, getting very excited.
Thanks for the weather links, i think i can cope with those temps LOL, glad you mentioned taking coats.
Will tell you all about it on my return.
We have booked the Barut for next july so you can tell me all about it before we go.
Can anyone tell me about luggage restrictions now, do you still have to put electrical in your hand luggage and liquids in your case
regards Rosie.
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/posting.php?mode=reply&f=28&t=81260# Hi all, well what can i say? It was a brill holiday, the hotel was lovely, the staff very attentive and they want more english there as they like us, i think because we are not rude like the russians nd germans! We could not find fault with anything apart from the evening entertainment which was the same repatative duet and songs but it was ok as the drinks were flowing, little tip: 5 euros every couple nights and they even remember what you drink and one waiter would even bring us more when we hadnt even ordered. (Think his name was Thomaas, tall guy with black rimmed glasses, lovely guy) Xmas eve we had a stocking put on the handle of our door with little bits in it (nice touch) father xmas visited everyone for pics to be taken.Gala dinners xmas eve and new years eve were nice with lots of entertainment and dancing,(bit too much turkish music though so we saw the new year in the lobby bar which was really lively, bottle of bubbly for each couple. too and drinks still being served free till about 1.30am. The hotel is spotlessly clean, cleaners everywhere. Food was good, though we were told by a couple the chinese was rubbish as there were only two items on the menu both in oyster sauce so we didnt bother, Of course this was the winter programme so it wouldnt be like that in summer i shouldnt think., but you had food coming at you from every direction, bit too much in fact.
Weather? roughly 21-22 degrees no rain till we were boarding the plane coming back, but we were told it had been raining for 4 weeks before we went.So maybe we were very lucky. I can recommend this hotel but i have to say i wouldnt go in the summer, the rep told us it has 1,000 beds and at xmas it was half capacity yet the sun beds had all gone by 10 am ! I cant imagine where they would sit so many people though of course the outside areas would be in use then. Be glad to answer any questions, cos i got the flu on my return and i have had to sit here all morning telling the groups i belong to all about it and the brain has gone into downside LOL .
Happy New Year everyone

Lovely trip report, sounds like you had a great time. One day I am definately going to try to get to that area of Turkey the hotels all sound fabulous.
If the outsides of them are anything to go by then they will be fab. We are going to the Barut Lara in july and wanted to see it, to cut a long story short walked there twice and was told on the 2nd attempt we were too late by 12 mins! So we decided it might be better to be pleasantly surprised.
The more I read about this hotel the more excited I get. I've just returned from our winter holiday and so i'm really looking forward to going to the Delphin on 13th July.
if its as good as the titanic hotel just down the road or the royal wings, then it will be fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
