:D I've just been on the First Choice web site and it looks like the flight times going out of Gatwick on fridays have changed for next summer, only by 30 mins.

I will be posting all about it, no doubt of that! :D

Thanks for that June, can you tell how they dress for dinner, not sure what to take....
Reply
you can dress up if you want but the other guests dress casually for dinner
only thing they dont allow in restaurant is swimwear for dinner
i suppose if you wanted to dress up go to one of the speciallity restaurants :D we didnt use them as there was enough variety in the buffet restaurant in the eveining :D
We dressed casually but smart for dinner
did take some evening wear but everyone else was casual thought id look out of place if i wore them
Some people were wearing t-shirts and jeans but we thought that was too casual but then you going over christmas so i think a nice dressy dress or suit for dinner but then thats up to you
I wish i was going again is there room in your suitcase for one
have a great time and enjoy yourselves
Reply
Yeah i thought it being xmas a glitzy dress or two wouldnt go amiss lol
could possibly squeeze you in as we have bought suitcases that expand another 50% :D
I emailed the Delphin and they replied telling us we have high side room, is that good? And yes we certainly intend to enjoy!

When we were at Lara Beach last Nov it was lovely and warm during the day - came back with great tans, but in the evening it was really cold, lovely if you were in the hotel but very cold outside and you would def need jumpers or coats. Have a lovely time. Regards Denny

Hi Rosie,
Just thought i would say that I hope you have a great holiday at the delphin Palace. I bet you are getting really excited by now. I will be thinking of you sat in the beautiful lobby bar on xmas day with not a care in the world!! Look forward to hearing about it on your return. I do not think we are going now next summer and are looking to ghange it to elsewhere mainly due to the extreme heat last august and the overbooking issues. We are going to the barut lara next april in fact in 18 weeks time but whos counting!!
Seasons greeting to you !

Thats a shame that you are not going next August Violet. I did not find the heat unbearable last year. But i must admit i do like it hot.

As for the overbooking i always e-mail the hotel in advance to confirm my reservation and take a copy of the confirmation with me. Let a rep argue with that.

It must be 18 weeks until we go to california as we go in April school holidays. yipee

Hi Wendywu
It is my husband who does not like it so hot, and it was a scorcher, the evenings were so humid and we spent some evenings inside the hotel to escape it whereas we like to be outdoors on holiday. It is more to do with the overbooking and the fact that it was last minute that many found out. I do not think having a booking invoice helped the ones last year, some were given notice a couple of days before travel and so there was nothing that they could do. I have not changed it as yet but I am looking at other options. We enjoyed it so much and our son still wants to go again, we will see.

Violet What about changing the booking to Thomas Cook, i dont think that they had any problem with over booking, did they?

Or we could all do a sit in at the Delphin Palace Lobby and refuse to
leave.

Hi again wendy,
Thomas cook have not had it on sale for a while now for next summer, I think if you look even with first choice they only have the expensive room choices left, like suites and family rooms and it was £2000 each last time i looked!! I have been looking at changing it to the Dominican republic which is not that more expensive to go to. I will keep you posted. The sit in would be good if all else failed!!! I think really anyone booked for as long as us would be okay but you just cannot tell and they do as they wish with people!
regards violet

Hi violet

The Dominican Republic sounds lovely, but i assume that you would be going the same time in the August school holidays. Would you not worry about it being in the hurrican season  Or are you thinking of going in the christmas holidays, which would be lovely weather.
