Didn't realise reclining your seats annoyed so many of us!
On my next flight, I will not be intimidated and if someone does it to us, I will ask them nicely to put it back up if we feel uncomfortable. Perhaps if we all said that, people would be more considerate.
I wouldn't dream of doing it because I would be so embarrassed if someone said it to me.

There are always people who would argue that the seat is designed to recline and it is their right andl just carry on doing it!

Cue, Jay Trip to reveal how to avoid it, please.

Great topic.
On a flight to Sharm this year the lady in the seat in front of Garry reclined the seat for her daughter who was about 5.
The mother then went to sleep while her daughter proceeded to climb over the back the seat and generally just jump around. Garry was too polite to say anything but you could see from his face he was getting a bit irate.
In the end i wakened the mum up and asked her to put the seat up as child was just jumping around being a nuisance.
She had the cheek to say oh sorry i forgot i had reclined it.

My pet peeve.... people who are rude to the airline staff onboard! Please remember, they are NOT your maids or butlers!

Following from that, I hate it when everyone is seated, you've just taken off & someone rings the bell for the stewardess. Surely everyone knows by now that they can't leave their seats until the seatbelt light has gone off. What on earth can be so important as to need a stewardesss immediately after take off

Just thought of another pet peeve lol. ;)

Airlines with thieving exchange rates.

Coming back on Monarch from Malaga I bought a coffee and a couple of 7 ups asked for the price and it was about 4.50pence, suddenly thought I have Euros to get rid of. She wanted 7 Euros :yikes seeings as it's almost one for one now, I declined to part with nearly 7 quid for 3 tiny drinks and kept them for another time. Grrh!

Oh yes indeed doepsmc! Coming back from Denmark last week on Ryanair a passenger didn't have sterling and told he could pay in krone. I overheard the conversation and the bill came to 40 krone. He was told he couldn't use coins but they would give him the change in sterling. He didn't have a 50 krone note so handed over 100 krone and they gave him back £4.75 when it should have been nearer £6.50. :yikes

I also hate comments some people make. Im looking to book up nxt year with my daughter who is only four. I was talking bout it at work. And one of the girls i work with was horrified. Saying she'd only go on hol with other adults - not on her own with a child. I was like - what about people who are single, have they not to go on hol?. Same as the post earlier about blond haired kids going to Turkey. People just make assumptions. I think ill have a great hol next year gives me an excuse to act like a big kid lol. And i dont think my daughter will be any more at risk with one parent there than if their was two. :duh :duh

With your positive attitude I'm sure both you and your daughter will have a fabulous holiday. Do your research first to find somewhere with the facilities you want. I guess your only problems may be faffing around at the airport with luggage and a small child in tow but after that it will be all plain sailing.

Another tiny gripe from me (starting to sound like Grumpy Old Women I am!)

Folk who just have to push in front of you and be at the "front" of the queue no matter where it is - it could be in the queue at the check in desk where they "edge up" and "edge up" until they end up being in front of you instead of four or five back -

It could be when the flight is called and they are up like spring lambs to be on the plane first - or getting off the plane - as soon as the seatbelt light goes out they bounce into the aisle and start pulling their bags down - then block the aisle so no one else can get out of their seats. :(

We did get a laugh one year - this one guy had to be at the front of every queue - you could see him getting really stressed about it - so of course he had to be first on the little bus that takes you from the plane to the airport..............but being first on meant he was LAST off - gawd I thought he was going to have a hernia :rofl

On a catamaran trip in the Dom Rep a few years ago, there was a gentleman amongst us (not british I'm pleased to say) who pushed past us all and said to his travelmates "I spent $80 on this trip, I'm going to get to the best spot" (we all paid the same!) Well he sat at the front of the boat and came down with severe sea sickness within 2 minutes of the boat moving, we were sat behind him and inherited the prime spot while he spent the rest of the remainder of the trip sat downstairs with a bucket between his legs ;)

I love plane seats with a footrest, makes putting legs up against the seat in front so much easier... as a rule, recliners do the 'deed' within 10 minutes of the seatbelt sign going off I sit upright slightly forward with my head down, forhead againt the top of the seat, reading a book... can stop the seat going back immediatly that way, stop it with my hands wihtout looking nasty by saying "that's my head... I can't remove it!" Never had a problem! After 10 minutes, the coasts generally clear! I only put mine back if I intend to sleep :tup
My gripe... as a vegetarian, I get my meal first... on one occasion, someone was so hungry that she decided to pretend to be a veggie and that she'd ordered a meal after seeing another veggie getting their meal! I was left with a cuppa soup! On another occasion, I was served my meal and the family in front of us (with a small child) kicked off at the crew that the children should get priority, I wouldn't have a problem with that but I got snotty looks for the remainder of the flight from them! Felt like giving them my meal, never eat it anyway!

I shouldn't worry, about what thoughtless people have to say. I managed to take my son on many many trips when he was young to different parts of Spain, alone and after the first trip of 'finding my feet' it was a doddle. There are hic-cups of course, but then you get that in general terms as a single parent anywhere don't you, and we cope. My first trip was to Salou with my son, he loved it, he was almost 4 and fell asleep on the plane, and would not wake up easily, so I struggled with a sleepy child and hand luggage. Thankfully a gentleman passenger took pity on me and helped me down the steps etc. Generally speaking you will find someone to offer assistance if need be.

That reminds me of two couples in same hotel as me for two weeks, in the lobby waiting to go home, and they begin to mouth of, how bad the hotel was, the food was terrible, and small potions, the beds, were uncormfotable, just basicly everything you could find wrong with the hotel they did

There were plenty of reviews prasing the hotel, which I must say is true, the hotel owner so friendly, and yes the meals were small, but delisious, and for me what I got on my plate was enough

The beds were uncormafortable, but you could sleep in them, spring type bed

The hotel concerned was the Acropolis Hotel in Cattolica

If you haven't done so already, you might want to complete the Hotel reviews even if there are reviews already it's always good to add another to it. The Mods are always asking for Hotel reviews.

Just thought of another one -
Where a couple queue in different aisles separately when checking in at the airport (sometimes could be for up to an hour and they can't even speak to eack other because they pretend they don't even know each other!!) and whoever gets to the desk first, the other leaves his/her queue and joins in, just so they get ahead!

Ha! Never seen that done! Some people severely display bad manners but go to a lot of effort in doing so!

I have to confess to having been involved in that scenario this year  It wasnt by choice (if that makes it any better). There were 14 of us travelling back from Spain - a big age range, it wasnt an 18-30 jolly. A couple of them disappeared into the other queue and I thought nothing more of it. We were travelling Thomas Cook so the seats were already allocated. Next thing I know Im being dragged to the front of the next queue because the others had reached the start. I hadnt reallised that they had all the tickets (I assume that mother-in-law had them) so we had to do it to get on the plane. We did have a few snidy comments and dirty looks  It was very embarassing.

Its not something I planned on doing and certainly not something I would do if it had just been me, hubby and daughter.

Agree with the pet hate about people being rude to airline staff , perhaps they should read airline babylon they might just think a bit more carefully, in fact i just can't see the point in being rude to any staff that you come into contact with on your way to your holiday. i have seen the comment jobsworth mentioned on here a few times but the laws/rules they have to follow are set by the authorities and government departments , if you don't like it or disagree then contact them , just giving off a bit of attitude to the person who stands between where you are and where you want to be has heard it all before and is probably more inclined to follow the rules more rigidly and remind you that if you wish to move on you need to comply, i love watching that easyjet programme when most of the time the passenger is in the wrong, and the ones who try the friendly and co-operative stance get good customer service to resolve their issue, but the ones who run down the airline and blame everyone but themselves and dish out abuse to the staff get the standard company policy and in fairness minimal help, they scream for the manager who would certainly know that they have already been abusive and they get no further with them either, really what is the point of acting like this? i just hate seeing people who are trying to do their best in their job getting unwarranted abuse for very little or no real reason.

How I agree with you Andy. Treat people the way you would like to be treated is our motto.
Like you said, they have heard it all before but some people seem to enjoy confrontation - maybe it makes them feel superior, when really all it does it get peoples backs up.

Am I the only person who thinks the Easyjet staff can be a bit supercilious? Leo (I think that's his name) really gets my back up! It's enough to put you off travelling with Easyjet.
