Being disabled we usually get boarded first. Now I don't make the rules so why do some people have to complain very loudly how unfair it is as we hobble to the front. :que
It's distressed my other half so much in the past that he's made me wait to board with everyone else which of course caused everyone to be held up as we are slower than them.
I would happily wait till last to board if someone wants my disability.

Gosh that's disgusting, whenever I see a severely disabled person I think 'there but for the grace of God.............. and just make way for them. I suffer from arthritis and find it uncomfortable and sometimes painful to sit in the same position for long periods of time so it must be really awful for people with major difficulties.

It's interesting how the seat back thing affects people differently. I find the seats more uncomfortable when reclined. I find they support my back better in an upright position. :que Perhaps it's a height thing as I am rather short.

One of my cunning plans for not getting a recliner in front of me is when they ask what four seats we would like at check in I ask for two sets of two in rows behind each other, then I can put my teens in front of me and bribe them with the stuff from the trolly, not to recline on me. :rofl I find this pretty successful, plus we sometimes get two window seats. :tup

Thanks for the tip, doepsmc. Think I will try that when checking in.
As it is just the two of us, do you think I could ask for my Husband to
sit in the window seat in front of me? Don't know what I could bribe him with
to stop him reclining his seat on to me, though!!!
On second thoughts, maybe not a good idea - pity the poor passenger
who would be sitting next to him when he snores!!!!!!!!

because,it is usually me,hubby & grandaughter, that goes away & we usually fly with,a carrier where you can choose your seats online,i always put hubby,in front of me,by the window & then me & kiera, sit behind.you can guarantee,if there is only 1 recliner,on the flight, they will be infront of me!!!!!!!! hubby's not much of a talker,on a flight,so we don't really miss him :)

When you're all packed and organized but still have a couple of days to go.

I can guarantee that I will get the person in front who reclines their seat on take off and leaves it there throughout the flight :rage . I'm talking flights to the Balearics and Greece. I mean, come on, surely people can sit up straight for a couple of hours? If it's a medical reason, I would be fine with that but it's usually the selfish few who put themselves before anyone else.

Just been on a flight to Malaga and the person reclined infront of my kids, before they had even prepared the plane for take off. :rage Then when the announcement came 'make sure your armrests are down and seats in an upright position........... " proceeded to ignore it. :banghead:

My teen kids would not have been able to get into the brace position if we had crashed on take off. There are some very selfish and inconsiderate people about.

I know exactly how you feel, that's one of my pet hates, if its a medical condition, then I don't have an issue, but if it's just someone selfish then it really gets me riled. I do try to 'select a seat' I know you have to pay more, but I would rather be 'in front' and pay a bit more than have someone selfish in front reclining without a care in the world.

doepsmc. Same happened to me once. The air hostess had to have a word with him saying he needed seat upright for takeoff; then a nanosecond after takeoff, seat was reclined for the rest of the journey. Ever tried eating your meal when the person in front has their seat reclined :rage

I just think it rude and inconsiderate

shoudn't make any diffrence to you as on most modern aircraft i have been on the tray is hinged from the subframe not the seat in front, so it comes down in the same place

It was Monarch short haul so you can't get a meal. :yikes but as you say it's impossible to eat them anyway. I managed to eat a bacon roll that somehow seems to do away with the need to put the tray down - probably why they sell them lol.

After take off I said to my kids, as the people in front of you have reclined to 'reclaim their space if they would like to they could recline as well and DD said 'Oh we wont do that Mum as it's not very nice for the people behind us' :rofl I just hope the adults in front of her were shown up by the comment of a teenager (you know the ones who get all the bad press all the time for being hooligans and vandals ).;

Well when I put my tray down for a coffee (person in front of me not reclined) and DD put her tray down, they definately came to different places on us. :que Hers was much closer to her body and she is not large in anyway just a size 8 person.

Perhaps its an optical illusion.

If it's a reclining prat that annoys you, why not try the knee in the back approach, along with standing up, supporting yourself, full weight on their headrest, at the same time trapping their hair between your hand and the head rest?
It works for me, but I'm 18 stone!

I have a chronic problem with my feet - under the soles which cannot be seen with shoes on, but make me feel that I am walking on shards of glass - and have to sometimes walk far more slowly that I do on a good day. Recently I have had to ask Easyjet for Special Assistance at the gate as I cannot speed up, they have been more than kind and given me extra time to get on board. I know that this riles other travellers, especially because they cannot see what is wrong, but it does make the journey far less stressful, and I am grateful for those who wait patiently behind me as I go up and down steps and across the tarmac without commenting or tutting.

I know it's difficult isn't it Alsa :( I have quite bad multi-joint osteo arthritis, but it is very variable so sometimes I can be in a lot of pain, but to an outsider looking in they would think there is nothing wrong with me, as I am not elderly and walk quickly. I have had it quite bad in my feet this year and can't really stand for long periods of time, but ironically sometimes the more I walk the better it seems, till I stop (weird stuff) then i really suffer. Its one of the things Consultants talk to you about how to deal with the fact that you are ill but others get impatient with you due to how you look. It does put me off of travelling long haul though. :(

It's so nice that you have had such positive experiences. :)

You made me laugh there - I too have used the knee in the back for revenge!!

Kimi my son has used this approach whilst on a coach. He did tap her on the shoulder and politely ask if she could put her seat upright, as he is tall and has long legs and little room as it was, she mutters something along the lines 'thats what seats recline for'. So he put his knee up and kept boucing so her head was like the churchill nodding dog. My son, not to give up kept this up until the woman finally put her seat up. :rofl

I'm usually quite a patient person, but on a flight home from Tenerife, a female in front irritated me almost from the word go. She sprayed perfume all over and more of it landed on me than her, she was up and down out of that seat like a yoyo, just flinging herself down on the reclined seat so i almost lost my drink several times and was really loud too (could hear her over my ipod). I asked her if she'd mind putting her chair up whilst I ate my meal but she refused so the knee was kept in the back of her chair for the remainder of the flight ( wasn't difficult on a Thomson charter when you're 5ft 10 !!) Revenge is sweet!!
