A bit of a frightener
Anyone apart from Swiss read the Ezy trouble thread on TA today? Poor guy had his money taken as recently as 17th October ........
Just had a letter from the TTA today informing me that I have to contact Forest Gate Police Station to report a crime as my money was taken and false paperwork provided confirming details of a bogus holiday. A holiday, which was never booked for me and also my money is no longer in the trust account. enabling me to a crime number, then my claim will be reviewed within 3 to 4 weeks.
Would have been flying out next Monday !!!!!!!!!
I had to wait around 10 minutes til the phone was picked up, then went through a lenghty computerised form with a clerk. Only to be told at the end, they would ring back within 24 hours and take a full statement, then issue a crime number. Guess they have had quite a few calls and will begin to get fed up with it soon
Does make you wonder if the refunds are going to happen ...
so much for trying to save a few pounds.
Just had a phone call from Forest Gate telling me that they will look into the claims and decide whether Ezy have committed a crime or if it's a civil dispute ! If it's decided Ezy have committed a crime then we will be given a crime number.
I wonder if without a crime number, its a problem for the refund, or whether we will get a refund at all if there is no money in the trust account. This is all just horrible.
Furthermore, if people have paid by credit card is there not a way of claiming back from the credit card company ?
There was a legal expert helping out HT members before - can that person advise everyone on this case ?
May help if you get together to bring a joint case - one legal eagle handling it all...
Just a thought.
Thanks
This is such a lesson to be learnt isnt it, and I thought I had done my research before booking with Ezy - I even registered with Company House to keep an eye on any changes.
This could be a very long drawn out saga.
Has anyone informed the TTA of Forest Gate Police comments yet, and what is their opinion.
If this fails we shall try through our holiday insurance. Ezy also tried to sell us that but we have an anual HI, not sure if it covers this sort of thing.
Helene
Not sure which position I'd rather be in; to have paid twice for the holiday or paid once and not had one......
Suppose if Ezy have our credit card details, statements will have to checked carefully in the next few months.
Thanks everyone, I have now found the thread, and will keep my eye on it for any other poor soul who is involved with the Ezy Fiasco.
But has anyone tried claiming back from the credit card company yet ?
I'm not sure about my holiday insurance, I shall be looking into that. I was just hoping that it was going to be staightforward with the TTA issuing refunds in due course.
We paid the deposit on a cheque, the balance on a Debit card so we've no chance of claiming on the card.
Has anyone managed to get a crime number from the Forest Gate Police yet. They havent even bothered to ring me back.
No . It's been the longest 48 hours ever , they must be deciding whether it's criminal or a civil dispute.
