Vitually any other long haul carrier will give better seats than Monarch.
You will be flying schuedual so things like complimentary drinks and entertainment are standard.
You will be flying with an Indian carrier so the food will probably be Indian and the entertainment will have a Hindi section.

Another answer sprung to mind is some bookings will show the plane type. Maybe if you try doing a booking directly. If it shows what plane you can look on Seat Guru. This will tell you what the seat should be like

I have found flights on kayak with jet for 546 there is an 1.5 hour turn around at mumbai is this long enough to get on the next flight

That's a little tight for comfort.
I would like a little longer or an assurance that you can get another connecting flight if you are delayed.
As you usually have to transfer your own bags going if they drag their heels you could miss your flight
Reply
Providing you are flying on down to Goa with Jet you should be OK, If there any delays, inform the cabin crew of your onward flight.

As long as they don't loose your baggage

well Its with Jet so I dont think they would sell that flight unless people could make it. Th eflight home 3 weeks later is 5 hours in the airport its long but I doubt I am going to find a direct flight for 546

I seem to remember someone posting on HT a while back that there are two terminals at Mumbai, domestic and international, and that getting between the two involves a short bus ride. I guess the domestic one is used for Goa.
I've never done it personally and am therfore only quoting what I read.
I'm sure other folk can advise more.

Yes two terminals one international and one domestic.
Regular shuttles between the two.
It takes about 10 mins on the bus but the transfers run about every half hour.
You need to remember who your connecting flight is with so you can get off at the right gate.
Coming back is easier as your hold luggage is usually transferred for you if you are using the same airline

Your main hold up will be getting your bags and then getting them put through ther xray scanner at customs, this can cause some hassle at times, and then if you miss the shuttle, you may run out of time. However if the worst happens they will just put you on the next available flight. They once rerouted us down to Bangalore and then onto a flight to Goa from there, it was a hassle but only added a couple of hours onto our journey.

why would they sell a flight if you was never going to make the connection tho

The flight to Goa doesn't always go on time, we have often had just less than two hours for the transfer and have always made it by using the transfer service and checking our luggage back in at the international airport but the last couple of times they have delayed the Goa flight half an hour

As Alan says you can get delayed at customs also the building works at the airport means the coach can be delayed or have to take a longer route and the security check at the domestic airport can be very slow if you don't get the Jet staff to give you priority

1.5 hours sounds very tight but it is not your problem, as long as you don't hang around they will get you on the flight or at worst the next one

If your booking is with one carrier you should be ok. you are right that they wouldn't sell a ticket if you couldn't transfer in time.
But if you have booked with one carrier for the international leg and another for the domestic they have no responsibility for you missing your flight.

In our experience It's normally just getting to Goa you will get the short lay over. Getting back is usually a case of flying on the last flights out of Goa for an early flight from Mumbai or Delhi or the first flights from Goa in the morning and a connecting flight in the afternoon.

I wouldn't worry too much about the flight times as what you would do if they misplace your bags.
Spread you clothes between your bags so if they lose one you still have a change of clothes.
Also take some toiletries or buy some from duty free so you can freshen up for your arrival in India.

What's your thoughts on booking pre departure lounges?
We do every time as it makes a great start to the holiday
