PATRICKFINN: You have a great location in block 5 or 6. Have a great time, your lucky that mrs patrickfinn is only getting ready 2 weeks before, I am usually getting sorted out months beforehand. Better to be too organised.

Hi eveyone

Thought I would post from the HV............it is great here and I would say that all the negative reviews that have been posted on the HV need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Not heard anyone here mention illness except for the normal egyptian belly lol

The place is immaculate and food is varied and always hot.

Staff are very nice and can't do enough for you.

I wouldn't say there was a bad blcok to stop in,

Anyway must go............. got a bit of sunbathing to do

Bye

Hi All,
Just got back in the early hours, after two fantastic weeks at the HV Red Sea, will try and get a full review written and posted over next day or so (very tired at the moment!!).
Can honestly say that this was one of the best holidays my wife, duaghter and I have had, everything was just great, food, staff, facilities and the weather was superb, not a cloud in the sky for two weeks, what more can you ask for.

No egyptian tummy for my daughter and I, my wife did however get a slightly dodgy stomach for a few days in the first week, some tablets from the pharmacy soon sorted that out!
We did hear of various people getting upset stomachs but nothing too serious, I personally think it's all down to the change in food and climate (temperature). We've had similar problems in other countries, including USA.

Will happily answer questions and help where I can, so please ask.

Oh yes, we were sat in the beach Beduin tent, on the hotel's Egyptian themed evening last Wednesday and family of four joined us at our table and after a short conversation I found out it was the 'Hargreaves' who had travelled out 3 days after us!! Amazing really, when you think how many people were staying at the village and we bumped into them like this. My duaghter became good friend with theirs over the next few days and we adults had a few 'cold beers' together in the evenings.

Really glad you had a wonderful time, look forward to reading your review.

Can I ask those who have stayed in s swim up room for a some info for my next door neighbour -
She quite fancies a swim-up room - which is the best block 7 or 8 (8 looks more central but is everyone walking past your little bit of space?)
Do the swim up rooms have kettles / tea / coffee making facilities or do you need to take your own?

Many thanks

Does anyone know if there is a kettle and cups in the kids Den.

Hi martyn P

I cant believe you are back already! hope it didnt go too quick for you and your family!
Did your daughter join in the kids clubs? any good?
was the room as spacious as others are saying..you are similar to my husband..the only male in the room!
I'm glad you had a brilliant time and only your wife suffered slightly!

I have today got one suitcase out just to fit the suncreams and bits n bobs in that I have bought in recent weeks! and we found our dingy from Lanzarote last year...I presume we are allowed to use these in the pools??

16 SLEEPS TO GO! :sun2 :hols

Hi Jamnico,
It was anything from 38 to 45 degrees whilst we were there, some people reckon it was even hotter on the balconies, all I know that it was extremely hot but pretty bearable if you got a shady spot (for the peak times).

Main restaurant and the three others in the restaurant block were nice and cool in the evenings, was nice not to eat and not be hot, something I don't enjoy and was concerning me before we went.
The only restaurant which doesn't benefit from airconditioning is the seafood restaurant, which is located above the bar on the beach and is open to the sea breeze!

Hi Katiesmum,
We stayed in a standard room, in block 13 above a swim up room, they look great and it doesn't look like many people are able to pass by your bit of space. I got the impression that swim up rooms had the same facilities as the select rooms, which includes tea & coffee making facilities. Worth checking though, there certainly wasn't in the standard room, although plenty of room , it you do take your own.

A good contact at the hotel is Ramy, who I met whilst there and exchanged emails with him before we went, he's very helpful, so give him a try:

Hi Hill70 (Joanne),
It went so quick, especially the 2nd week, back to reality with all this rain today!
My daughter is 10 and joined the kids club, although it took her a couple of days to settle into it and really enjoyed it, plenty going on, almost all day. There are numerous activities going on in the main & activity pool and she made loads of friends by joining in, which then occupied her during the times where there wasn't so much to do.
Standard rooms are very large, loads of space, nice big bathrooms, walk in shower area, although lighting could be a bit better, but didn't cut myself shaving :)
Beds are huge, biggest beds we've ever slept in (larger than the ones we've had in the US), airconditioning in rooms is fantastic and such a relief when getting back from the pool. If you think it's not getting cool enough, just dial guest services and they'll send someone out and sort it.
There are all sorts of inflatables in the both the main pool and the quiet pool, so no issues there, there were plenty being handed out by guests leaving and there's a shop just under the main pool area who sells them as well.

For all those going, please remember, drink plenty of water and first signs of a bad stomach, lay off all the dairy products and fish!

Cheers

Hi Martyn P, so reassuring hearing how you have enjoyed the HV

No issues with getting a sunbed in the shade?

We are booked into 2 interconnecting standard rooms sounds from what you are saying we will have plenty of space.

Did you do the late checkout via the hotel when you got there if so did you keep your own room?

Did you have any experience of the stagecoach sessions for the kids? (dance, drama etc)

Thats all my questions for now, thanks a lot Louise 9 sleeps to go :cheers :cheers

Hi Joanne, the local white, rose and red wines were all good (one tip for you, if you go to any of the al-la-carte restaurants, they will try and get you to order a bottle of wine, which you'll have to pay for, however if you're happy with the local wine, just keep ordering that by the glass and it's free!) They also serve some good cocktails, using the local rum, gin or vodka. There's a list of them on the tables in the bar area.

Hi Louise,
We booked the late checkout room before we left and kept our own room until approx 5.00pm (was closer to 5.30). I know others who were trying to book their rooms when they were there and were told they could only do it a couple of days in advance and may not be able to keep the same room!
Our daughter didn't go to the stage coach sessions, although from what we saw at the welcome meeting it looked good. She was more interested in the Rookie Life Guard sessions etc.

Cheers

Oh yes, the sunbeds!

Could pose a bit of a problem, depending which pool you use, most beds in shade were taken by 9.00 ish, although there were plenty on the beach, which we used a few times, great snorkeling and very relaxing. The main pool was obviously the busiest, with many towels out between 6.30 and 7.30!!
Towel guys were great and would normally manage to find beds somewhere, don't forget to tip, they'll remember you next time and it does help.
