Arrrrrgggggh. I put the wrong passport expiry date, and it's one thing you cannot change once done!! I have phone them, but it's an Indian holiday and they are closed, so I have emailed them with the details.
Someone, PLEASE reassure me this will be OK. I have heard that some people have been allowed to manually change the details on the printed form and send them over and they are OK. I'd like them to email me that, so that I can send the email with the application.
it doesn't show the passport expiry date on the visa, so if they are not too vigilant checking all your details at VFS then no one will be any the wiser if the visa is issued!! I think you have already had a visa before so I am sure that will also be in your favour.
I haven't posted the forms off yet, so I'm hoping they email me to say I can manually amend the form, and I can then send a copy of the email with the application.
Mobor One, i have heard of people who have manually amended their forms without any problems.
PS haven't done an online form before so don't know what the process is even though I have read this thread
chilly
Posted my online visa application's today, I'm petrified that I have missed something, matters weren't made any easier for me when the counter assistant asked if I had forgotten anything before weighing the recorded package, Hope it's all going to be worth it.
This is what i get when i check on VFS to see if its coming back .........
Your application is under process effective 25-Sep-2009.Please bear in mind the minimum processing times before calling the visa center. Is that what every one else has who have applied for a Visa ?
Getting a bit worried now but they have been shut today and they are shut again on 2nd Oct and i leave on 6th oct.I hope
Hi IMHO, that is the same message I got and received the visas 2 days later!
Remember the VISA is electronically processed. The response refers to the electronic process I would have thought. They only need your passport to put the VISA in. I think if you have sent the passport to the wrong address it will be passed on to the correct one. Might cause a delay but not a really big one. Don't panic !
Thanks Squigs and DaveWales. I asked the same question on IM and Haylo who knows so much said i should get it back but it will be close. They have had so many holidays while mine is being processed,so that didnt help. Thats reassuring that you had the same message on the tracking page.Trying not to have a drink but when it does come back i will have one then . Not packing till Visa has been sent back.
Sending mine to Hayes today, hubby taking it to the PO on the way in to work so I shall be tearing my hair out and checking on a daily basis now (well almost daily) why is it always such a nerve wracking process for all of us? Every year we have the difficult task of locating a reasonably priced flight or package, every year we have the worry of whether we can keep to the ever decreasing luggage allowances and then we have to go through hell and high water to obtain the dreaded visas. Sometimes it makes you wonder why we actually put ourselves through it.................but we still do Fizz
No joking i hope everything goes well for everyone who's sent/sending them off i know how it feels all this stress and i have mine to do in the next 2 days..
Will post them on Thursday when I can get to the Post Office.
The hassle is soon forgotten once the passports and visas are back in your hands, but this stress every year, honestly, I deserve a holiday! Especially this year with Thomas Cook cancelling my plane!
Just back from handing in passports at Edinburgh to. Arrived at 08.30.am, same very helpfull security man from Group4 on the door, he quickly checks your paperwork, corrects any mistakes, and gives you your queue no. I was no. 7. then sat for 30 min till some of the Indian staff decided to start. One solitary female started, and in the next 30 min managed to recheck and deal with three applications !! Then someone joined her and after about an hour I was called . I was asked if I was returning to collect my passports and when I suggested yes, in two days time, got the Indian head wobble, suggested 3,4,5,6, days still no joy, but she eventually suggested they might be available for pick up in seven days. Under the bad old system you returned after 4.00 pm the same day and got them back, last year it was return in two days, this year seven days, some improvement ! With a possible postal strike looming the outlook is'nt too good for those still to start the process. Alan
Gramps, you should try online next time it's very easy if you take your time to fill the form in and follow instructions. It then only takes me 5 minutes to drive to the post office and hand them in ! If there is a post strike, registered mail should not be affected so that is not a worry. I shall apply for mine this week and see what happens ! cheers Dave
Just to let all the kind people who helped me with my electronic visa application know. I have just had a phone call from the application centre at Heyes, Informing me that I had put deceased in space provided for parents name. He asked for correct names of parents, and told me not to worry as everything was fine, and I would receive our visa's on Friday or Monday.
