Check with your GP, different GP's give different advice even in the same city where I live. If they recommend them have them just in case you have difficulty with any insurance claim in case the worse happens, if they don't recommend any then your covered as you have taken expert medical advice.
I've had mine as in 2002 they were recommended by my GP.

They recommend hepatitus A, but it is up to you. Some doctors charge for this(around £15) I think it is recommended 4/6 weeks before travel and then you have a booster in 6 months which covers you for 10 years. We did have ours and were lucky not to be charged.
Was ment to pm this sorry Briar for going
My son & i just got our hep A jabs 4 going n 2 weeks n omg they nip, but is best 2 be on safe side!! I didn't have 2 pay but some do charge, so check b4. Signs of hep A for kids are sickness & diorreha, and jaundice for adults. I went to turkey last year and was fine, just chose to be on safe side as taking son this time. FC should of told us though!
As we have just been transfered to P/t and going in 3 weeks time do we need to have vacinations are they vital are because we in a complex on not remote are we ok does anyone know.
we go on the 24th july and we have not had any, we also went last year and did'nt have any then either
Vaccanations not essential, just recommended, just has them to be on safe side, i went lastyear without them. Only having them this year as taking 3 yr old. In some parts of turkey you even need malaria tablets according to my docter but nowhere near where we are! I had hep a djab yesterday going to pt on 20/07.
About the injections thing - I called my doctor yesterday who has insisted that we (me, my husband, 3 year old & 1 year old) go in next Monday (3 weeks before we go to PT) for Typhoid and Hep A jabs.
Can anyone tell me if injections and malaria tablets are needed for Side? A friend of mine is going on sunday and hasnt had either..maybe its too late anyway but I said I'd ask!

ive been going to turkey for 24 years ,4-6 times a year and we have never had any tabs or injections , its safe in the holiday resorts mainly recommended if you go into areas of turkey that arent really holiday places so she should be fine, i know a lot of members on here dont bother to have them
Thankyou! I've let them know and they said thanks too!
I had them the first time I went in 1988 but I've never bothered since.
Thanks SandC thats cool!
My doctor said i should have hep a.I wasnt too bothered but had it anyway just in case of insurance problems..the kids had it as well and me and hubby had a tetanus booster as it was over 10 years since our last...but really i think you are quite safe without the jabs.By the way,the jabs our nurse gave didnt hurt a bit and i mean they didnt hurt at all....a new needle i think...nicole
I have booked turkey for june 2007 and just wonder if you need injections?
ive been going to turkey for 25 years up 5 times a year and have never had injections and we have all been fine, inc taking my daughter from 6 mths old, they are really only needed if you are going out of the main tourist areas, you should be fine, but the decision is up to you
i can go with ellie on that one we and our kids never had any injections but this is down to your own personal choice but if you are not sure have them anyway until you are satisfied that you don't require them
If you can't make your own mind up arrange to see your practice nurse at your docs they will give you the correct advice.
Thanks for the replys.Looking at all you have to say, i think i and my family will have to be injected for typhoid and hep a but still not sure about malaria tablets?
p.s. what areas do you need malaia tablets?
Better to be safe than sorry, if you have any doubts then have the injections. We were really not bothered about having them , but a friend came back from Turkey with Hepatitis, and seeing how poorly she was then that was the decider for us, we had them done and no side effects , just peace of mind . Had a brilliant holiday .
