Hi msoulsby
never been in April but know someone who has. The water park was shut as were most of the restaurants. There are a couple of indoor restaurants though and also an indoor swimming pool. Maybe it depends on the weather and how many guests they have?

thanks for that. I checked their website and it said everything was open from the end of march. Im very confused

Could they be open end of March this year due to Easter being so early this year?

I think they open them if the weather is ok and there are enough guests. We were there in July a few years back - I think it was 1997. The weather was fantastic but they closed a couple of the outdoor restaurants as there were very few guests. This was when there was a threat of terrorism and most of the German guests cancelled. The place was really quiet - great for us but not so good for the hotel.

How busy do you think Lykia will be during the May half term week? I have just read a review that says during school hols it can get far too crowded but this prob means the summer hols in July/August, so just wondered how busy it is likely to be the May week? Anyone been then? Luckily we are there for two weeks, our 2nd being the first week in June, so hopefully it should be quieter that week

this is exactly the same 2 weeks we were there. it was fairly busy but not full, some days tricky to find a sun bed and we found the main self service restaurant called the marina in the evenings quite tricky to find seats, so we used the residence main restaurant a lot and preferred that as we could always get a seat

Thanks ellie-meg,Are these restaurants far away from each other? I mean if, for example, we turn up at one (say the Marina) and it is very busy, would it be far to walk to the next (the residence)? Don't fancy getting stressed out trekking around when we are hungry lol! Did you find the June week quieter?

If the Marina is busy , help yourself to a beer, wait 5 minutes and chances are you will get a table as someone leaves. It's an uphill walk back to the Residence restaurant - about 10 minutes.

Do you get coffee free with the meals and water, oh and what about vodka, is that included? Hubby dosn't drink beer or wine, only spirits or cider, but I doubt they will have cider?

You can get pots of coffee at breakfast, and coffee by the cup at lunch and dinner. (you help yourself from a machine).

You can buy vodka from the bars but you need to pay for it. I would try the local vodka. It's a lot cheaper than the international stuff. I haven't tried it but the local gin was very drinkable.

I've never noticed if they have cider. You would need to pay for it. The only free beer is Tuborg (may have changed brand - that's what they had last time I was there.)

If i remember right i read in an earlier posting there are water machines around the complex are these bottled water dispensers? or cups? and are they free ? :)

Can you hire prams at LW as last time i took my good pram to turkey someone knicked it on me at dalaman when i arrived.

you get free wine, beer and soft drinks with your meals. sometimes we had to sit at the end of a long table of other guests, infact we had richard parks from fame academy on the next table lol. the second week was slightly less busy but still busy. you must try some of the ala carte restaurants we found them fab, and only about 3-4 euro per head, we enjoyed the italian, chinese and turkish, you need to book these a few days in advance, but excellent

Theere are disposable cups by the water machines but there are notices advising that you aren't allowed to refill bottles with these. Bottled water is available to purchase at the bars.

Is the per head charge for the a la cartes the same for kids as adults ? I am convinced it is going to be full to bursting when we are there and so will be eating in these all the time. LOL. So I need to work out a budget. What time of year were you there, I am last two weeks of July.

It is only the Marina restaurant which gets full in the evenings, the other two are fine. We were there last two weeks of August. Can't help on cost of a la cartes for kids I'm afraid. We counted as adults. We only tried the Turkish one, which was good. They had our two teenage boys up belly dancing.... Soooo embarrassing for them!

chris i was there last week of may first week of june, each a la carte restaurant had slightly different charges but only by a euro or so, ive got a feeling my daughter was half price but i cant remember but she was only 5 at the time, the older 2 did their own thing and didnt eat with us lol, i think over 10's are adult price but not 100% as it was a few years ago . we found the residence restaurant not too busy and always found a table there. the mandarin (chinese) was fab and lovely views over the beach thats where i choose to have my wedding reception meal as i liked the views the best lol, they do change the menu each day too, the italian again fairly nice views but dont sit near the bushes as there were quite a few bugs, food again good, the turkish was up the top of the complex and they cooked a lamb in the big well like oven , no sea views and a bit of a trek but again food great. i didnt try the fish restaurant as adult only and dont like fish and also didnt fancy sushi, so didnt try that either but lovely views from there, you do need to book these a few days in advance generally and well worth a try

Even if the place isn't full it's worth eating in the ala cartes as they are very good. The price isn't going to burst the bank. The Chinese is my favourite. Arrive early and get the table overlooking the sea. The Fish restaurant has the BEST setting but they don't take kids.

Thanks to you both. :kiss I shall definately be trying them, I will try and visualise you getting married in the Chinese Karen. Did you put any pictures in the gallery of Lykia I don't think I have ever looked as I never thought I would get to go there, and probably wouldn't of if it wasn't for the fluke bargain price I got last April or May.

Am I right in thinking these a la cartes are waiter/waitress sevice or are they buffets?

I would just like to say that I have seen the both of you patiently answer question after question on Lykia all the time I have been a member of HT and particularly last summer, often being asked the same things over and over again and I think it is very good of you both to help in the way you do I am sure you have helped people to have better holidays with your advice, you have the patience of saints. :kiss
