Anyone confirm teh exchange rate applied to credit/ debit cards as compared with rate on cash exchange
The exchange rate is always better than a cash transaction. We opened a Nationwide BS account and use that card when abroad. They don't charge you a fee for making foreign withdrawals, which most other banks do.
Always had a good rate on the card.. although thats been for a "poenly exchanged" currecncy.. wondered if a soft one like TD was different
First time to Tunisia (Hammamet).
I'm with the Abbey National and I only have a Visa Electron.
Is Visa Electron acceptable in their ATM machines??
I've used my card all over Europe and USA..but worried about Tunisia.
P.s. England Til I Die...

Right i've read loads of posts but i cant seem to see an answer for this, will my Bank of scotland visa electron card work in the Atm's(cash points)
the hotel changed it for us as it is a fixed rate currency the same rate is used wherever you change it. also the hotel gives you a receipt which you need to be able to change it back at the airport.
you dont need a lot of money though as its really cheap for everything out there depending on what you do on your holiday.
any more help please feel free to ask
Thanks.
Every exchange of money is at the same rate,we were there 4wks ago and changed both TC and sterling and got the same exchange rate for both with no charges.
Please could anyone inform us if ATM,s are located at Port El Kantaoui,
yes their is one, if my memory serves me correctly just as you go through the entrance to the marina on the left hand side.
apparently you have to change your money when you arrive?
can you change it at the hotel or at the airport?
We took sterling travellers cheques and they were all in £20.00, it was easy enough to change them into Dinars at the hotel and make sure you use your Dinars before you leave Tunisia.
Have a great time

hi, does anyone know the latest exchange rates in tunisia
2 weeks ago it was 2.4 TDN to the pound
thanx kiltedwarrior, post has been moved, just found it
Sorry to be a nuisance as I'm sure someone has already posted on this, but has anyone any idea of what time the bureau de change at Monastir Airport closes at night? I have a late arrival on 1st October and I'll need some cash for a taxi. Failing that, can anyone tell me where the ATM is at the airport? In all the years I've been going there I've never needed to use that one.
I've just given myself a good talking to for being lazy and checked back on another part of this forum. Lucy Locket says the ATM's are by the baggage carousel and someone else says that the Bureau de Change will be open so it seems I'm sorted.
