Looked everywhere for a thread about mozzies but couldnt find one.
Can anyone tell me what to expect on the mozzie front in gumbet in october??
Was in greece a few years ago and hubby had a allergic reation to them.
Any advice on how to prevent this would be great.
Thanks in advance
Nic
Just back from B&Q and they have 3 plug in repellants for £19.99. They don't need refills/tablets and work on the principle of the ultra-violet light attracting the flies, etc. According to the instuctions you plug one in each room and thats that!
Anyone tried them? was thinking about taking them on holiday To Kos with me.
Cheers,
Janet
Nonnielane, we tried the mossie wrist bands 2 years ago in Turkey and they were ribbish. Others may have had a better experience but I would not get them again. We use Jungle Formula extra strength now been using the lotion but this year we are trying the spray. I also use this on Katie who has sensitive skin and it is fine...
Ive been reading reports about the sinkov you buy over in Turkey so will get some when we get there, I hav some jungle formula lotion to be going on with.
Hi i have got everything from spray vitamin b complex garlic capsules, however the triage nurse at my gp surgery advised citronella mixed with surgical spirit just dabbed on in the vunerable places apperently there is something in the surgical spirit when mixed with citronella which the bugs don`t like, it`s worth a try. I also have marmite which the mossies don`t like.
A friend of my rubs citronella around the windows and door of where she stopping to stop the little !!!!

Jackie i normally eat it on toast think i would be a bit if i started spreading it on my skin, might be like what the women did in the war as my mum tells me they put gravy browning on their legs cos they could not get tights.
I have suffered for years with mozzie bites, people beside me don't need repellant - I am it- no one else gets bitten ! Last year after doing a bit of research I took Vit B for 1 month before my hols and during my hols I also took an antihistamine every day, which I started 2 weeks before departure. I wore mozi-bands in the evening one on my ankle the other on my wrist, I sprayed myself with Avon soft and sensual woodland fresh. Vit B produces a substance in your sweat which the mozzies don't like. I know this must sound extreme but I do take a reaction to the bites. The result - no bites. I am not sure which of the above was the answer . I am doing the same again this year. I am also UV sensitive - but I think thats another posting !!
deb ie - with regards to the mozzie bands when you said you put one on your arm and leg was it one on right and one on left. or both on the same side
nonnielane - It was one on the right and one on the left, to cover each side of the body - this year I am going to try and eliminate the bands I did not like the smell, and they clash badly with the wardrobe! especially the ankle band - although first sign of a bite and they will be back on !
Avon are doing a deal on sss dry oil spray at the moment buy 2 bottles for £4.00
tracym21 - do you know what the avon campaign number or book number the offer is on as I am not in England, and I am not sure if we are the same over here.
INVALID URL hope this helps
I looked on their website
great - thanks tracym21
