We have booked our Turkey flights for next year with Onur Air. Booked through A1Travel. The prices were at least £70 - £100 cheaper than everyone else but they have gone up a bit this last two weeks.

hi there i have booked our flights through a1 travel also for next july, i couldnt believe the price we got them for. £111 each

i have read all reviews on the discussion forum, but i think its only 4 hours out of your holiday, that was until i spoke to a friend who booked flight with onur in august to dalaman and she said plane was old and rough looking food not good eother and a short while before the landed at dalaman they could smell burning and when they landed they were rushed onto a waiting bus and there were loads of people on the ground surrounding plane. but newer plane on return, but she said she wouldnt go with them again. think i will just make my own mind up.

I always say you can't comment on something until you've tried it. Well, I flew with Onur Air for the first time this month and reserved all judgement until after the flights. We were originally flying with another airline but our flight got changed 4 weeks prior to our travel date so we didn't have much option, it wasn't by choice. Onur's fleet is a mixture of old and new. There's nothing wrong with an older aircraft providing its well looked after. We travelled on their older Airbus A300B4-605R fleet. A very nice aircraft when in good condition. Our outbound flight was concerning to say the least. The aircraft wasn't in the best condition and cabin procedures were a worry to say the least. I'll not go in to details here, I'll save it for my trip reports. The inbound flight was much better and the aircraft in a much better condition. I know Onur Air are a low cost airline which is reflected in their prices, but personally, I'd rather pay the extra and travel with an airline I could trust in the event that anything went wrong. Regardless of the price, you still expect certain standards. I'm not saying Onur Air and their crew aren't competent, but my experience travelling with them was enough to give me second thoughts of travelling with them again. The big question; would I travel with them again? I'd probably give them the benefit of the doubt and may do, but only if they were the only airline available.

I've got PC problems at the moment (one of my hard drives has failed!) so I can't do my usual flight reviews at the moment, I'm hoping to get them up in the next week or two.

I have posted this question in the Turkey discussion forum but I was told to move it here so ......

Do Onur air charge for meals ?
The reason I ask this question is I have travelled with Onur several times in the past including last year 2006.Each time we got a meal without and additional charge of £10 per person. This year we have booked with A1 travel going with Goldtrail holidays. At the point of sale the sales person said it was with Monarch airlines and we had to pay for an in flight meals and no opt out so we said yes. When we got the confirmation paper work it said we were flying with Onur air. We have challenged this and they say that they will refund it.
Is this a mistake!!
If you look a Goldtrails site it charges you £10 for Meals on the Onur air flights to Turkey

We travelled with Onur air last year and using them again this year, booked with H4U, the meals are free and so are the soft drinks onboard.

I think the trick with airline food is never to expect much and then you are not disappointed. It's there basicaly to break up the flight time, keeps the passengers quiet for a wee while. It's not a pain to go four hours without a meal so anything you get is a bonus. We flew with Globespan last year to Croatia, no meals just nuts and crisps which you had to pay for, not a problem. We'll give the kids something at the airport before we go and then a snack and a drink of juice is fine on the flight.
Could be worse, I flew with Air Egypt a few years ago to Nigeria and I was veggie at that time, the meal was chicken and rice, for mine they just took out the chicken!!.
I'm not moaning, we got good cheap flights in peak season, if I wanted first class food I'd of had to pay double the ticket price.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear what I mean is how come Goldtrail are charging £10 for an in flight meal with Onur air and say Holidays 4 u are not.I have flown with Onur air many times and have never been charged for an in flight meal.So how can they justify a £10 charge for a meal already included in the price of the air ticket.

That is pretty poor ICF, bet your ticket wasn't £10 cheaper either!. Rip off.
A pal who has flown with Onur before gave me this tip. When they come round with the drinks trolly, grab a few beers as they go first, being so cheap. Whether I'll want a beer at 9.30 in the morning is a matter for me and my rehab counciller!! :D

Flying with Onur in June for first time. Also first time to Turkey. Do they sell cigarettes on board if so anyone know the prices and allowances or would I be better to wait till we get to Turkey to buy them.

Thanks :D Alexa

With immediate effect. They only fly one day a week on a Tuesday, it used to be a 9.30 departure and a 15.30 arrival, this is now 17.40 and arrival at 02.15
Inbound was 06.00 arriving at 08.30
now it is 14.00 arriving at 20.40.

Not too bad, as we are staying 30 mins from Airport, so time to get to bed for a couple of hours before the kids want to get in the pool!!.
Coming back is actually a lot better, didn't fancy having to leave at 2.30 am to get to the airport.
I guess this is the price you pay for going budget!!

I got the following from the Travel Agent confirming the Onur Air from Edinburgh:
EDI - DLM 19:40 - 02:15
DLM - EDI 16:00 - 18:40 (arrival back local time)

Great flight time coming back as you will at least get up and have breakfast and possibly lunch in the Hotel before leaving!!

These times are not that different from the Pegasus one that leaves on a Monday and used by the major tour operators.
