For anyone who is interested, here is my experience while flying with Onur Air aboard their Airbus A300B4-605R's:

Onur Air flights OHY380/379 Manchester - Dalaman - Manchester, September 2006.

Any questions, feel free.

Hi

does anyone know whether you can prebook your seats to sit together with this airline?
It will be four adults and 2 children on our hols and if its three and three seats then a row of six across would be ideal. :thanks

Hi All
Re prices,
Not sure of the prices on the plane but found Dalaman prices very good for ciggies and drinks
Superkings came out at £ 13.60 per pack, or 88 euro's for 1000
Vodka the large one was 12.50 euro's
Raki was the same 12.50 euro's about £ 9.oo

We travelled with Onur last year, 2 adults and 2 kids. We just arrived early at airport outbound and got seats together no problem and on the way back we were able to prebook through out operator Holidays 4U, was only something like £5 per adult and the kids were free, going again this year with Onur and just plan to do the same, arrive early outbound and prebook over in resort for the return.

Dazbo5,

Hi, thanks again for your information re first choice flight - Onur Air, Cardiff. Just one question, do you have any information regarding the turkish pilots - I have been lead to believe they are a bit fast when coming down, i.e. feels like plane crashing (if they pilot aircraft the speed they drive cars then god help us!). Do you know? Much appreciated for any info. Thanks. Sue

suebar,

Turkish pilots are highly trained and operated their aircraft as per standard operating procedures. The airline wouldn't be permitted to fly in EU airspace unless they met strict guidlines. They approach the same as every other pilot would in that situation so I wouldn't worry about that, they are very professional. Just as an example, an Onur Air MD83 (TC-OAU) suffered a catastrophic engine failure on rotation at Manchester last Monday (11th June) and it was handled perfectly by all concerned. Just sit back, relax and enjoy your flights.

Hi Dazbo5 - I bet you think I am a bit crazy, sorry! Just one final question, I dont suppose you have any photos of the plane and interior so I have a good idea what to expect - it all helps with this fear of mine! Many thanks. Sue

suebar,

I don't think you're crazy at all, you just seek re-assurance for what is a stressful time for a lot of people. It's better knowing as much about your flight as possible than going blind. This is what the A321-200 looks like from the outside in the old Onur Air livery. This is the new livery on an A300B4-605R. I don't have any cabin shots of an OHY A321-200 since I've only travelled on their larger A300B4-605R's. My mum is flying to DLM from LPL next week so I'll make sure she gets me one! This is what the inside of a NIKI A321-200 looks like to give you an idea of what to expect, it won't be much different to this.

Hi

Anyone flying from Cardiff to Dalaman with Onurair on a Monday morning flight you may be interestedt on know that over the last three weeks I have been looking at the airport departures and noticed that there has been delays every week that have been getting progressively worse, flight s/b 09.20am Week 1-left at 11am, Week 2-left at just after 12pm and today 2.22pm. There appears to be a problem with the incoming flight from Dalaman which appears to be getting progressively worse.
I have just emailed them to see if they have any information as to why?
I'm getting a bit concerned that this is just going to get worse and as we can't prebook seats we will be in the airport from early. And if the delay today is anything to go by then I will have two very crotchety and tired children.
Does anyone have any info on this?

Cheers

Bullseye,

The joys of flying with Onur Air! Good luck with your email, I suspect that'll go straight in the recycle bin where my email from August 2006 will be! Onur Air aren't known for their punctuality so not much you can do but turn up for your flight and hope for the best.

Is there a site where you can check airport departures BAA or something?

Marchmont Par,

Refer to this thread on that very subject.

Cheers Darren,
flight was delayed 2 hours yesterday, there is only one a week from Edinburgh. Edinburgh is supposed to be one of the worst in the UK for delays as well. :(

Marchmont Par,

I know this isn't much use to you, but my mums flight from Liverpool to Dalaman was bang on time today which isn't bad for Onur Air. She better have remember to get me a cabin shot of the A321-200! I hope your flights are as punctual.

Thanks Dazbo for your reply, I think I'll just have to grin and bear it and you never know we might just get lucky :? Encouraging to hear about your Mum's flight to Dalaman being on time. It's just so frustrating knowing there is absolutely nothing you can do about it especially when you see most of the other flights going out on time or thereabouts. I'm always at the airport way before I need to be-usually too excited to sleep beforehand :P I have booked through First Choice and thought we were flying with them, only recently found out that they use Onur Air for some of theirflights to Turkey. Oh well, what will be will be, I don't think i will be able to stop myself from checking again next Monday morning
Cheers

Thanks Darren, here's hoping it will be ok on the day. Last year we took off five mintes early for Croatia, plane was full and they had the go ahead.Three years ago we had a five hour wait for Menorca, nice!
