Ok Pam7
I would not already have insurance cover for this activity, on my travel insurance. Do the companies that offer this excursion cover you for accident or at worst death. Do you have to sign anything before actually doing the jump. How would you know that you are definately insured?
I have read this posting and I was getting rather excited about doing this but alas now I am a bit apprehensive and for my 8 year old doing it the answer is definately no now that saved a few pounds
It looks great fun and you see paragliders coming down non-stop all day long. But tragically an Englishman was killed last year and the Instructor who was flying tandem was badly injured when a wind gust stopped the canopy from opening and they crashed into the mountain. I think it happened in September and was reported in the Turkish National Newspapers. It would be wise to make sure which Paragliding Company is the safest.
Hi, can anyone tell me, when paragliding off Babadag mountain do you need to take your own boots, don't really fancy packing a big pair of boots in my suitcase. Also can anyone recommend a particular company to do this with.
Going in 20days and now only 14 days left to work!!! can't wait.

Did not get as far as doing the paragliding last year but Sky Sports seemed very professional. There were not the cheapest but had the hi-tech equipment eg. dvd of jump, in-air filming, air to ground video and microphone.
The paragliding companies provide all the equipment you need.

a colleague of mine got back from olu 3 weeks ago and he had a brill time paragliding. he recommended sky sports. he also said not to bother trying to barter on the price.
We got back May 20th and did paragliding through Ikarus (near the beachfront). They were very helpful and professional and looked after us very well.
Having made good friends with one of the jewellery shop owners he said that there had only been one 'tourist' death that he knew of since the resort had been opened. The rest were the guys who go alone and do lots of tricks etc.
I would recommend bartering on the price, also on the price of the DVD and photo's they take on landing. Only thing I didn't like is I was told that before they did any fancy stuff they would ask. Luckily I enjoyed being spun around but i am sure a lot of people would be a bit unnerved by this.! Just make sure you say to them, 'ask me before you do'!

A lot of places were asking £50-65 this year but if you go to Guide Tours in Hisaronu (at the bottom opp. Pepinos Pizza and Piano Bar) you will find them best on price for almost all the trips. We used them last year and this and found them to be very competetive. My daughter did the paragliding this year through them and we couldn't find anywhere else to match their £46 price.
The all-day Islands boat tour was £6 with them inc lunch and pickup/return from hotel - incredible value

Took the plunge and went paragliding a couple of weeks ago. We used Focus which is a booth right on the beach. Myself and my daughter paid £50 each. I would recommend doing the earliest flight (we left Olu at 8.30) this meant it wasn't too hot to travel etc. Although it is cooler up the mountain it got very hot for the last 8-10 minutes when coming in to land. I expected the whole thing to be totally excillerating, but the problem both myself and my daughter had was a feeling of "travel sickness". I was dissappointed as I had not expected to feel sick. I was not frightened at all (apart from the journey up there). I got some great pictures. So I would say, take some travel sickness tablets before you go. It was a beautiful and peaceful experience.
Would like to get some info on this as I would love to do this - going to Olu Deniz this summer and staying at Belcekiz Beach and would like to know what the gliding/parachuting is like and the safety - i have heard that you land on the beaches!
we did it a few years ago at Lykia world. It was the most fun you can possibly imagine and this is coming from someone who wont go on theme park rides and I'm scared of heights! Went back the next day and did it again along with kids and husband.
My husband and son did the paragliding experience. Can I suggest you go through Sky Sports. They are more expensive but insurance is a virtue and this company ticked all the right boxes. The paragliders had years of experience behind them.
As for the hotel it is wonderful, food great, entertainment fantastic. You will most definately enjoy it. Enjoy yourselves.....

I have a few customers wanting to do paragliding of babadad mountain i have given them the locations of the operators but in all my fifteen years of sittiong round the pool drinking a g & t i have never had the guts to do it so if anyone out there could give some information on the types of clothing required etc and weather to eat before going , and any other tips i can pass it on .
thanks
thanks
You get given overalls to wear so all you need is shorts and a t shirt and shoes that wont fall off. (trainers are ideal) . Also take your camera as you get fantastic views of the area. Some people take their videos.
You can get air sick if the pilot decides to do stunts and also the drive up is hairy. I'd go before a meal if it was me.

MaverickAs stated before my husband and son paraglided off Babadag mountain. They had a light breakfast as they were not gliding until about 11.30am.
I agree with Bridd people can wear light weight clothes, shorts etc and probably best to wear trainers.
My son was sick 'bless him'
People who wish to undertake this activity in my opinion must 'go for it', my husband and son were 'buzzing' when they came down and thoroughly enjoyed.
Enjoy
kind regards
Kazee
Hi Kazee
It sounds brillaint, as Olu D is such a stunningly beautiful area the view must be amazing. I just know my eldest is going to want to do this.

DoepsmcYour son will probably want to do it. Whilst you are up there the pilot has a video camera and films you as you glide,
fantastic to see loved ones participating in such a good activity. Further, you know that they are enjoying themselves because you can speak to them on walky talkies. We purchased the DVDs and my husband took some pictures off his camera whilst up there. The views are amazing, I am not kidding
fantastic. The company that my husband and son went with also supplied a certificate (I cannot speak for other companies) it had a photograph incorporated in the certificate of them and the pilot. It was wonderful gesture as it was taken when they had just got rid of their parachutes and ropes etc.
What can I say, just superb
