noticed my posts seem to give conflicting ideas.
I don't and won't eat in any Mc D/ Big mac/ Wimpey etc as I am extremely worried about the content of their product with regards to BSE etc. (personal reasons and not logical reasons)
having said that , I have to say that any fried food has to be bad for you and grilled meat is probably a safer bet than deep fried vegatarian
hey, you pay your money and takes your choice!!!
bring on the lettuce and cress sandwich

I have the same concerns as you there del949 in respect to the content of the the product at the burger outlets, and understand your point regarding deep fried food. Grilled obviously would be a much better choice, but given the choice between a mass produced burger (not the fresh ones made by my butcher!) and a deep fried samosa containing nice fresh ingredients I know what I would choose each time.

If the Goan/Indian people want McDonalds I would not stand in their way, as others have said it is their decision. But at the moment they are not suffering from the obesity levels we in the western world are encountering (and no it isn't just McDs which has caused this), but surely they must be doing something right (whilst writing this I am watching my recorded Gary Rhodes in India in Goa - most disappointed that he doesnt' seem to be doing a Goan Prawn Curry!). Perhaps rather than then learning from us we have something to learn from them?

The Indian population apparently has high rates of diabetes - must be all that ghee and cream they use in their recipes. If they want big Mac's too then healthwise they are asking for further trouble.

That's interesting reading, Lassigirl. I especially liked the reference to Feni and the suggestion to sell as a more appealing cocktail drink to dilute the smell and the need to aggressively promote it and get it patented soon! :omg

Hello all,

Spoke to my indian mate seb who lives in Arpora/Baga and he says that there is no Mc Donalds in Calangute?

Just got back this week....there is definitely no Mc Donalds in Calangute.....Royal Foods (the chicken place) has moved back to where it started from a couple of years ago....and a company called Maple Foods has taken over the building and not Mc Donalds as everyone has been saying.... :hyper ...

Before everybody starts lambasting me for liking a 'Big Mac'. I remember last year on a visit to Bangalore looking forward to a Mcdonalds after months of spicy food. Even though I try to eat healthy foods, there's no harm in the odd bit of junk food. You can't tell me nobody eats big macs back in the UK. Don't get me wrong I'm not being a philistine just a realist...sorry folks!

Steve, I have to agree with you.

After a load of spicy food, there is nothing better! :D

Did you really find a Big Mac at McDonalds in Bangalore SteveM ?

Actually Lassigirl, It was'nt a Big Mac it was a chickenburger as they don't do beef. However I did indulge in a few KFC's, Pizza places...all junk!
