Have a nice day
I was in Calangute last week and im almost sure they are building a petrol station opposite Royal Food court on the Calangute / Candolim Rd and not McDonalds - i could be wrong though... Im not really keen on McDonalds abroad it never tastes the same as at home anyway plus there is so much Goan/Indian food to try it would be a waste.
re: the petrol station, when i was in goa in april im sure the petrol pumps were already in place.
I don't see what is wrong with having a Macdonalds in Calangute, especially if it is near the beach. As with Domino pizza and Subway, being multinational companies, you can guarantee that their level of hygiene would be of a high standard and you would less likely run the risk of catching "delhi belly" than you would if you've ordered something to eat from a beach shack. ( I was warned about this from a Goan, especially chicken).
Have been to Goa 6 times and i'd say probably 90% of our eating has been done in beach shacks eating a whole variety of dishes and have never suffered the dreaded DB Must have cast iron gut I guess
We always eat at the Shack at lunchtime, working our way through the kebab menu with the odd seafood meal. It's some of the best food on offer, very fresh. As they have a high turnover of food in the shacks it doesn't have time to sit around and go bad.
Eat every lunchtime in a shack. Never had a problem in over 10 times I've been. In fact the best meal we ever had in Goa was in a shack. So fresh it was still alive when we got there. Can't quite say the same about MacDonalds where I've had more than one cold burger in my time. Still - suppose it was inevitable that as Goa has increased in popularity McDonalds would want a piece of the action.
We ate at the Beach Shacks twice a day!! My son who is 14 also ate the curries and we never had any problems. Regarding Mc Donalds I would be quite pleased as my other son who is 18 will only eat a western diet and lives off egg and chips a la Goan style the whole duration of the holiday so he would be easily satisfied for once. We love the shacks and would recommend them to any one
anybody else heard about the mc donalds is going to be in goa this season or not?

personally its a shame to open a dive of crap to satisfy brits and othere westerners goa has alot of charm that will spoil it .....cheap junk sells though hey!!!shame not as many people are healthy like me!!lol.

mwa,ha,ha,ha,ha, never heard so much garbage in my life!
Hello! Is anyone at home?
It's India, no such thing as quality control and rule of hygiene infrastructure.
Personally I am really looking forward to visiting a few and socialising with the owners and waiters. They all sound to be great characters and often can be part of your holiday!
Something I wouldn't be able to do in MacDonalds or Pizza Hut etc etc.
Sorry.....Western style fast food joints have no place in Goa and I haven't even been!
I completely agree !!!!
In the Uk all the Mc d are serving the same burger etc no matter where they are because all the food is processed at the same place.
In the past the "beef" was produced by a system that included mechanical recovery of meat from bones and this was implicated in the BSE/CJD incident of a few years ago.
There is no suggestion that McD does this now or would ever have done it in India but during the above mentioned crisis all the interested parties were at great lengths to state that beef was not a cause of VCJD, this was shown to be completely false.
DO YOU TRUST THEM NOW?
As far as I am concerned anyone eating at a burger joint does so at their own risk, these people are interested in profits only and a halfpenny or rupee extra is where they make thir profits, even if it means cutting corners and selling garbage that most people would refuse if they were aware of the contents.
Apologies, Sunday night and a few beers..... but this is something that is extremely close to my heart.
beers or not you took the words out of my mouth lol.
Fortunately it was only ever a rumour that Mcdonalds would be opening in Goa,, there is no actual evidence of them planning to do so. And long may it remain that way.
IMO Calengute is already polluted with overdevelopment, Sports bars, Irish pubs, Restaurants serving Roast dinners, etc, etc . So why not have a McDonalds, just because it's there dosn't mean you will be forced to enter.
There are still some lovely parts of Goa, that have not been spoilt by mass-tourisem.
ps- McDonalds India do not use beef.
