Hi,
We were at Cavelossim and arrived 8th November, 2 shacks were up and another 2 were being built. About 5 more were built during the next week.
A lot depends on when the permits are granted.
Leanoras will be up and running by the end of october and probably pedro's by the beginning of november
What are the shacks? the places to eat?
poke-it ? Why don,t you try reading other previous posts?

JG, be fair, she's new to the forum, probably still finding her way around. How about pointing her in the right direction instead of comments like above
Well said Goan mad Tony. Poke it the search tool at the top is quite good for finding things. Just make sure you choose the Goa forum before you press the search button.
The shacks are the restaurants on the beaches, poke-it, it is from there that you rent your sunbeds and get your drinks and things. All the boys who work in them go out of their way to ensure you have enjoyable days and evenings (lots do BBQs and fireworks at night time). Quite probably you will find one shack which you enjoy and tend to keep going back.
Well said Goan mad Tony
Yea, nice people make all the difference

JG that kind of comment and angry face is not very welcoming to a newcomer is it? Would have scared me off the forum if i got that when i was new and only asking a question. There are pleasant ways of telling people dont you agree?
Hi poke-it, all you need to know is probably here already. Just spend some time looking back through all the previous posts and you will discover so much. All the best Lisa.
Dont worry Im not scared off that easily
I know through being on a forum about Ibiza, it can be frustrating having newcomers come in and ask the same questiosn over and over...however, you can be polite about it and still answer
I have done a search, and done one before i asked, just wanted to make sure i had the right idea.....
And now im still left clueless as to whether i would enjoy going mid October as i think the shacks would play a good part in making it enjoyable, and if there not up by then, well....could be a bit desearted
You will find the north will be busier. The season in the north seems to start earlier.
Have a look at when the charter flights start running. This gives a good indication when the season will start.
Palolem should be ok as well.
Actualy quite a nice day here today just a few showers.BUT the rain has been awful the past 5 days virtualy non stop, but it's nice and cool about 26 degrees.
Well we finally had a sunny weekend here in Goa after what has seemed like 3 months of (almost) incessant rainfall. So far this monsoon, we have had more than 3000 mm (that's more than 120 inches). So everything is looking very green and the wells are full. The monsoon may still have another month or so to go, but lets hope it is just showers from now on.
I haven't seen mention of this anywhere else and wondered if you could shed any light on it Phil?
The hill your friend is refering to is just outside Panjim,Porvorim hill. The authorities reckon it will take another couple of days to clear the rubble and make the road safe.So as for the tourist season there will be no problems.I have not heard anything about the bridge though.
Thanks John, he said that they were working hard with the clear up and that we would notice a difference when we arrived. It sounded so dramatic saying that a hill had been washed away.
Yes, it is the approach road to the Mandovi bridges from the North which has been affected by the landslide, and not the bridges themselves.
Now I know where you mean, thanks Phil. Was this a recent event?
I read this in the online Navhind times about a week ago. The bridge problem was a massive traffic jam on the bridge due to the hill slide. Today's edition says work already started on clearing the stones and mud and they expect it to be cleared in about 10 days. That means it'll probably still be there when I go in December !
Just spoke to one of my Goan friends and he says its raining so bad that he can't leave the house ! looks like the monsoon's still raging on.
Yes, we have had 3500mm now - that's about 140 inches. The monsoon has now started to retreat from North India, so let's hope we only have showers to come, not more of the persistent rain which we have had for most of the last 4 months.
