I am mozzie bait but surprisingly this October I wasn't bothered at all. In May I used by usual Autan/Jungle Formula but still got severe bites but in October I accidently left mozzie spray at home so went to the local chemist in Pernera who recommended some lemon spray which is used by the Cypriots - not one bite!
We went to the Imperial Beach Hotel, Paphos, from 20th October to 27th October and nobody was bitten at all. We didn't use any any sort of repellent. We weren't even aware of any mozzies. (We had a brilliant holiday by the way.)
Been explained to me that because we have no rain since god knows when this is the reason for the lack of the darn things, but no the weather is on the change my guess is the little blighters will have the last say of this very long hot summer here....
No mozzies until the 3rd day after a huge downpour overnight, then I was bitten to shreds over the next 4 nights.
Back home now and the bites are starting to heal.
So from now on beware of the horrible little things.
hi anyone know what the mossies are like late may and in june.
Max I have merged your post with a topic that is already running about mozzies.
there were none two years ago at that time i'm mozzie bait and i never got one bite. my mam got loads in october but we think it might have been ants or something else as they were different to previous mozzie bites!!!
thanks for the info
Went to protaras last oct when i got back i noticed a small red spot on my neck never thought no more then in dec it started to get bigger and was very itchy went to docs he didn't know what it was so i had to have a biopsy well you only think one thing then. I rang for results on thursday receptionist read results and just said it has the characteristics of an insect bite, i see doctor on tues it has been sent for further investigation 4-5 weeks what the hell has bit me? (it was not my husband) any ideas
I went to Paphos in May/June last year and the mozzies had a many a bite out of me. I lost count the number of times I was bitten. I'm going to Paphos mid May this year and hope that last year was just a one off as they don't usually cause me any problems.
hi, i am going to limassol on 11th june. are there many mosquito's about?
Just got back from Protaras, I didn't see any but I did get bit. but only the once.
I've also heard that Avon's SOS woodland fresh is fab and am going to order some before I go to Paphos on Sept 3rd!
We've just come back from two weeks there (we're greedy this year!!), but forgot to order some, although I must say I always take Citronella products with me along with my Tea Tree oil......which works.
Mozzies love me too - more's the pity!
You can buy plug-in's now too - I've been told they are good?
We had a plug in for our apt. Went to unplug it at the end of two weeks and it was still full. Forgot to take off the protective film across the top of the jar. Well, it'll do for next year, or the caravan in August.
Thanks for that tip - I'll have to buy a plug-in and will remember to take the protective film off
hi all in ayia napa and not seen a mozzie yet been here since 31st may !!!!
cheapest repellant, buy a lemon cut it in half rub over exposed skin, brilliant just a bit sticky though.
I've just had a look at the Avon web-site and their Skin-So-Soft body spray is now only £2.50 per bottle. If anyone does order some - opt for the bluey/green bottle
I haven't been bitten for about 3 months here in Estern Cyprus.
I popped over to Peyia near Pafos for the weekend and got approximately 20 bites in the first night.
