I can remember reports of a leopard in Calangute.

When I asked what would happen if it came down into the town centre, they said it would just have to look out for itself, like everyone else! :rofl

Getting this thread back on track- I would imagine that Goa would be on high alert. I see there has been another explosion in Delhi. Jaipur was also hit not so long ago and tourist areas were picked.
Would I still go to Goa?? Well, I have been several times to Bali but actually delayed our first trip there by a couple of years after the Kuta bombings. In the end we went to a quieter resort, one less likely to be targetted. Calangute could never be classed as quiet though. At the moment, I would say that I would go to Goa. However, if anything did happen I would definitely be rethinking.

we were the same re Bali Fiona we went the year before the bombings and it stopped us going back thereafter..would go now but just havent had the opportunity.i know when the threats were announced a few years ago in Goa the Isreali Government told their people not to go as they were a target and we avoided major risk areas nightclubs, Calangute steps New Year etc and one day thought we would go to a safe beach.. so went to one of the vagator beaches (middle vagator)...only to find out later we had placed ourselves in the hotspot as it is kmown as 'Tel Aviv beach' due to all the Israelis there :D

Your right Fiona, I would hope the police forces throughout India are on high alert, the Foreign Office is advising tourists to be vigilent.
The violent attacks on Christians, in Orissa and Karnataka is also very sad, and I hope it dosn't spread to Goa.
x lassi - ps I would still go to Goa at the momment
