Thanks chuck, it's to the right as you come down past Golden eye, and has a proper loo which is why we always go to it lol we'll have a look anyway but was just wondering
the high court has again delayed a ruling until friday 4th december
Anyone out there heard anything
Reading this article in Times of India seems like things are not quite home and dry. What is going to happen when the shack are moved from where they have been for years.
Alan
Looks like spaldy was right on this one.Mid-December before it is resolved.
Yet again we will see the same shacks up and in the same places, and also be told by other shack owners, about those who do not have a licence and are operating on a daily basis (quite a few again..)
If you have abided by the law then you get your place, those that have abused it, should be banned and new comers allowed to have a go.
Some very simple solutions to all this, but the dumbness the way they go about things in all aspects of India are a farce.
November/December for quite a few next year will be a no-no, another kick in the Goan goolies.
I reckon I could still enjoy our 2 week break in Goa without shacks, if they had none all season, but it's going to be interesting as the season moves on, what the increases will be to cover the losses - if they don't recover this season, 2011 could be an expensive trip.
It will certainly make me think again before going in November. As for price increases I and a few others have commented that the shacks are not cheap anymore.Just convenient.

spike,i was worried it would effect our hols, being no shacks when i went, but suprisingly didnt bother us one bit in our 12 days we only ventured to the beach once for 20 mins!rest of time tried small bars where we never bothered trying before ,and tried more eating places, and spent a lot of time round pool for a change and was very relaxing too,so i really would not worry too much if theres no shacks up yet when you good people go.as someone said above if i go back again,it will not be in november, the goan authoroties certainly know how to alienate themselves against the people who bring money into goa, their loss i suppose!

So sad to see them cutting their own throats.

SHACK ALLOTMENT BEGINS TODAY-DEMOLITION STARTS SATURDAY.
SHACK ALLOTMENT BEGINS TODAY-DEMOLITION STARTS SATURDAY.
So, if I'm reading this right, if you stay in Calangute and your favourite shack is just down from your hotel, this year you might have to gt a taxi/tuk-tuk to Sinquerim to visit it.
Only in Goa. So people lying on sunbeds all along the beach are yet again going to be subject to the sight of police mob-handed pulling down half built shacks only there because of the desperation of the owners at the lack of licence.

At the moment glad I am not a shack owner.Very difficult times now matter what your opinion of how much they make.
