mollie43,
I won't have access to the full movie list for a few days when i'm next in. I do know there has been a delay with updating the entertainment on the long haul aircraft and no date has been scheduled as of yet to change the movies from Nov/Dec on these aircraft. Short and Midhauls IFE will be changed tomorrow but as of yet I don't know what it will be.
does anybody know what aircraft is used for tom772 ? on ana is says 76w but don't know what that means
767/304/ER with winglets

that's correct but I suspect you meant 75W pearman (MAN-HRG-MAN)? It's a wingletted Boeing 757-200 from 12/03/2010 to 30/04/2010, non-wingletted prior to that.Wizard HT Mod wrote:767/304/ER with winglets

Former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER.

We flew premium and my question is if you book through FCs website does it give you the same option as Thomsons i.e. a direct link to book your exact seats online or do you have to ring?
BTW that service that Thomson offer is superb.

Papa
You can book your seats online with First Choice. Click on Extras at the top of the home page and just follow it through. Takes you to Thomson website.
First Choice is just a high street brand of Thomson since the merger. Even though you might book with First Choice, everything is Thomson behind the scenes. You'll have all facilites as if you booked with Thomson.

It's nearly that Madeira holiday time again!
There are 4 of us (2 + 2) travelling out LGW-FNC on Feb 15th and 22nd respectively, with all of us returning FNC-LGW on 1st March. 2 of the party (with respective carers) need welfare seats due to medical conditions, so I've been on to Thomson's Special Assistance team this week to request such seats, especially after a nightmare situation in 2009 (same flight and time of year) when the handling agent at Funchal, Groundforce, demanded 4 x 25 Euros (100 Euros in total) for us to occupy welfare seats on the return journey, then insisting that (contrary to CAA regulations I thought) we could sit in the emergency exit seats, only to then be moved by the cabin crew once on board, resulting not only in stress and embarrassment for all concerned in front of a full aircraft, but also a week of acute discomfort and pain from varisoce veins and restless leg syndrome due to the cramped seating that my wife experienced. This money was eventually refunded in full after intervention by ABTA, but not before Thomson's Customer Services had accused us of misleading them by saying that we had occupied these emergency seats by choice in the full knowledge that 2 of the party were not permitted to do so........a claim which I strongly refuted.
So..........can anyone please advise us on how best we can avoid this same problem arising again and which seats would be best for us to be allocated (aircraft type and seay layout would be very useful please), also any other measures we can take in advance to ensure a comfortable and stress-free journey both ways for all of us, especially as 2 of the party, my parents are now in their 80s!
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Andy
The best way to avoid any problems is to call the airline in plenty of time, ie not the week before the flight, in order to discuss your requirements and get things booked. More details are on Thomsons website. Are you on the TOM4106/7? Those flights are operated by a Boeing 757-200. Medical seats are located on row 2. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (see below).

That is just what I have done during this past week but there are 2 points that I remain concerned about - firstly, having also pre-warned Thomsons last year, how was it that Groundforce at Funchal appeared to overrule Thomsons and demanded 100 Euros from us, citing that row 2 was NOT for welfare needs but was categorised as 'extra leg room seats' at 25 Euros supplement each; also, Thomsons advised me this week that rows 3 and 4 are welfare seats as they are close to the front of the aircraft, not row 2 (which is the bulkhead row, with more leg room that rows behind).
In the past we have provided documentary evidence re medical conditions, and also paid in advance to guarantee welfare seats, but Thomsons now advise that due to changes in DDA and other legislation, such payment and documentary evidence is now no longer accepted.
They aren't points we can really answer or resolve here. You need to direct your questions to Thomson and get things placed on your booking. Rows 3 & 4 are also assigned medical seats on some aircraft for those requirng seats near the front of the aircraft, ie toilet facilities, but don't require any extra room.

Another query though that you might have the answer to...??
Up until 2009 inclusive Thomsons flew to FNC from both LTN and LGW in February.......but now there are no longer any flights ex LTN at this time of year. Do you happen to know the reason for this at all........though I guess this accounts for the increase in aircraft size for the LGW flight?
A generic seating plan is available on our What Aircraft? guide (there are 5 varients due to the mixed fleet background). Flights have been consolidated and the less profitable ones removed or combined due to the economic climate. I suspect that's the cause of a reduction at LTN.

A final request please - where on the forums might I find suggestions best deals for 'Airport with, or without, 'holiday' parking for LGW area please?
I had a general search but may have been looking in the wrong place as the latest posting seemed to be several months old.
Thanks,
Andy
The best place to look / ask is on the GATWICK AIRPORT Q&As, hotels, parking, etc topic. Let us know how you get on with the seating.
Darren
Thanks guys.
