Well they now seem to have decided what the answer is. I'm not surprised people are so annoyed. You saw both emails I got. Neither of them gave me this latest information.
The form, as Chilly says, is straightforward but does not help those who have already booked in good faith.
So, if you want to holiday within 2 months, you must first get permission. Don't book until you get that permission. I would like to think that permission would be granted in almost all cases- but who knows?

took visas to Goswell road appt was 13.30 saw the lady at 15.20 and as my application states civil servant they would not accept it until I had my employee fax a letter to them... why you may ask..well apparantley I have to ensure the high comissioner that I am going to Goa for a holiday and not to carry out any business..... :rofl So if you are a in th epolic or work in a prison make sure you have a letter with your visa.... :rofl

My holidays are for 10th November for 12 nights , then 21 December for 14 nights, I really don't want to have to wait to book something for Xmas / New Year on say 4th December which is in my estimation the very , very earliest I could get permission, I have to book annual leave from work and also Xmas/NY is such a busy time in Goa, it is just not something I can possibly do.

I need to rethink my November holiday destination , it is all I can do :think

thats really tough Shirley i feel for you... i feel sure when all this was decided they didnt think it through very well...it is hindering genuine tourist from visitng... i dont know what to say to you... i dont know what i would do really in your position if i had been looking forward to it :que just be thankful you havent bought any expensive tickets yet i guess :(
................and good luck whatever you decide ... shame you cant get permission now?? is there a way i wonder? afterall you are only going for 12 days 1st time and 2 weeks second ...thats hardly long term and very obviously a holiday and u r booking accommodation too arent you? must be a way? i think they will have to rethink this for people such as yourself and there are a lot of you

Well I think I will hold off for a while just in case they 'rethink' the situation, I feel very, very sorry for people who have already bought thier tickets, at least I can look at going somewhere else , mind you surely if they do apply for a 2nd visit they will get permission as long as they are genuine holiday makers.

I really can't see why they are putting people through this, it really doesn't prove anything about intentions of staying in India, it is merely another inconvenience and just depends on when your visa is due for renewal. :duh

Good morning peeps
I have not yet sent my visa as there is two more questions,
1) regarding fathers and mothers name and place of birth? Do I only complete that part if I was a minor? I have put NA but now question I put their names down.
2) Do I have to print off all the questions I completed online, or just the visa? I am sure when I completed them the only option was to download and print off the visa application. Therefore, the embassy have sight of the online application or is there another route I print off the whole application.
To summarise when booking online and paying online the only items needed in the special delivery envelope are the passports and photos, as we do not need the restriction form or journalist criteria
Crikey I have made such hard work of this :rofl

Thanks in advance, after these final questions the visa applications will be sent.

Hi

My friend returned fro a 3 week holiday during Christmas, from Goa last week. She was about to book her flight this morning to return on 30th Jan for my wedding in Goa, when she was told she cannot return within 2 months due to new visa restrictions, that were enforced from yesterday!

Apparently she needs to apply to the high commission for permission. We have found the form she needs to complete on VFS Global site, but does anyone know what to do next? The high commission's telephone number just rings and rings...

Hi Kazee
you're going to be ready for your holiday after all this stress in completing your visa application.
I had to lay down in a darkened room after I'd done ours - and only revived after a large G&T administered intravenously. :rofl

Anyway, you should enter all the details about your parents that they ask for - regardless of YOUR age.

Re the printing, as far as I can remember about ours, we just clicked on 'print application' (or whatever it said).
It comes out as an A4 form which needs to be signed & dated (black ink) - as identical to your passport signature as possible.

You send your application, photos and passport, plus your return SDE (if applicable) - DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE REFERENCE NUMBER SO YOU CAN TRACK IT AFTER PROCESSING).
Even though you've applied on-line, you still have to send the hard copy of your application. :shrug
I actually sent a copy of the check list too, although this isn't necessary.

Hi Kazee,Yes you do need to put Mother&Fathers names.Print off the visa application Form(1 form)this needs to be signed &dated, put this with your passports&photos in the special delivery envelope, take it to the post office who will then put the stamps on your return SDE.You should get a receipt which shows your tracking number so you can check online.Don't forget to take note of your application number so you can check how your appliction is progressing.I think thats all :tup

No 'sorry' needed, Manxcat.

As I said a couple of days ago:

Glad we're singing from the same hymn sheet, manxcat

It would be a nightmare for poor Kazee if we were giving contradicting advice, wouldn't it? :yikes :glynis :tup

I would have thought it would be to the tour operators and airlines benefits to get onto them about this as they are going to lose so many bookings through this and we wont be able to claim on our insurance for cancelling as you are not supposed to book your holiday without a visa first. My sympathies to all involved in this fiasco, hope you get there for your second visits ok.

With regards Brenliz's point
we wont be able to claim on our insurance for cancelling as you are not supposed to book your holiday without a visa first
maybe you will have a case for claiming on your insurance as most have booked their holiday before this new rule was introduced, so as far as they were concerned they did have a visa before booking their holiday....

A massive thank you to Pretty Polly Cat and Manxcat for your support, advice and guidance. It is very much appreciated ;)

Thanks again, I will reprint now over the weekend and submit it the application to the Post Office on Monday.
