You need to read the link as well as this thread. If you read all 79 pages you'll be confused as things have changed since it started.
Note to the mods... time to start again ?????
You can apply for your VISA now but it is valid for 6 months from the day of issue which means it would probably run out in late February sometime. They take about 7-10 days to process so I would apply a bit nearer the time you go.
Hi Haymans - we fly out on the 4 February and will apply for our visas sometime early in December. Last year they came back in about 8 days so even allowing for Christmas post that will be in plenty of time.
Thanks for the advice, I will leave it a couple of months and apply in December.
I agree with DaveWales that this thread is confusing. Mods it would be great if there could be a new thread started with up to date advice.
we go the day before you and will be applying around beginning/middle of Nov.
Haymans - one very useful tip is that if you make a mistake on the form, and notice it too late to correct, you can cross it out, correct it and initial it. Use black ink, and be sure to sign the bottom of the form in black ink.
last season they were being returned within 2 weeks but i would't recomend waiting that long before posting
I applied for a business visa on 2nd August it was given on the 4th and I got it back on the 6th. Great service no problems.
Hubby and I went down to Dubiln to ask about getting a visa fron there ..we can get one there ok but the bad news is in Ireland they only let you have one visit per visa so no good for this visit as we are going in Nov then again in Feb ....colleen
this must be new then as we always get 6 month visa and use it in Nov and again in March
That's strange Noel thats what the man told us when we went down a few weeks back to think we drove 100 miles to be told that and you say that is not right wonder did the rules change ..would you happen to have any paper work that says you can go 2 times on the one visa .
The tourist visas issued from the embassy in dublin are valid for 6 months and can be used for multiple entries as per their web site. there does not seem to be any change to that and we have always used them twice in the one season. I am gonna e mail the embassy now to check if this has changed and will let ya know
quickest i have ever got them back.big to hayes vfs global
Good luck to you Ron to think we have all to go through it very soon wish I was you ...colleen
has anybody used the Manchester Visa Centre? i believe it is at the Jain Community Centre in Levenshulme? if so how did you find it
Noel went on line and looked and your right it does say you can go more than once pr visa ...however that is not what the man told us on the day we went down to Dublin so what we have done is leave a message on their phone asking them to ring us and we can talk about it ..tell you what I wont hold my breath they will ever get back to us because in the past we have E mailed them and never ever got a reply back from them ...will keep you posted .colleen
think you are right about never gettin reply, e mailed them Thur and still waiting, however from past experience we used our visas twice, they were for multiple entries, will keep ya posted if i hear anything
do they still have visa surgeries?
These surgeries tended to be organised by the local Indian communities and staff from India High Commission or Consulate General offices came up or down to issue visas.
The whole process has now been out-sourced to VFS Global.
There is no way you can get a visa on the same day anymore.
Thanks x
Update. It seems i am not the only person with the same problem. If you go in person and apply for a Visa you will get it back in 2-3 days at the moment but if you post your looking at up to 2 weeks ! dont make sense to me.
We sent ours off seven days ago,and they came back this morning so 8 days isnt bad. All is good here now, just have to pack
