Thats great goanmad tony. everybody seems to be getting them back fairly quick and hassle free. lets hope all others who have still got to start the process are as hassle free. havnt heard of any that have been sent back for silly things like signature not matching or not put an NA in a box or the photos are not good enough YET!!!!!!!!!

I will be doing mine tonight so let's hope the trend continues. Not looking forward to it. I don't know whether reading about it for the last few months makes me more nervous or not although I am grateful for all the tips despite this being the 12th time.
i know what you mean. we have been doing this for 12 years and still it gives me the willys.

Someone posting on TA has had their application returned because of unacceptable photos:
too much background not enough face, and face colour incorrect
Also read about a few who didn't sign the application under the photo and were returned.
Please note....... Passport photos are no longer acceptable for visa applications due to the new visa format.
The application photo now appears on the visa itself.
You must include 2 photos that are exactly 2" or 5cm square.
If you don't, the application is rejected and you have to pay for special delivery envelopes all over again. At £10-£11 a time, that can be expensive!
Easiest option is to take the photos yourself and print them to the exact size required.

I think that may be the problem with DIY photos, you don't get the colour or background right or even the right amount of head size - too close up/far away, they will be rejected if not right.
For the sake of £7 for four in a photo booth it's not worth it, costs more than that in SDE if they are rejected
We finally completed all the forms on line last night and have to say it wasn't as bad as I expected. Hope I am not speaking too soon, one never knows until they are back safe and sound. I will try and resist the urge to check every day for the next 2 weeks. Did have a large glass of wine afterwards though which unfortunately was against 'doctors orders' as I had just had 2-1/2 hrs cranial treatment and therefore this morning I have a very fuzzy head.
No point checking the website for updates. Mine now finally shows ready for collection.

p.s. http://www.idphoto4you.com/ this is the website i used for my own photos and once you have them you can adjust background colour, face tone etc.........

Next year they will probably throw another spanner in the works and change the photo size again.
The background on mine from the photo booth was a bit grey too, now you have got me worried again.
no dont worry mine was grey that i sent from the photo booth
The problem I had with my passport-style photos being rejected was at the London office - Hayes, Middlesex, this year, despite them being okay with previous applications.
We posted our visa applications last Monday and they arrived yesterday. We are really pleased they didn't take long to process.
qifitness are you aware that the specification for photo's has changed from previous years? you now need a larger size 2"x2" see new details here
As it's all changed!!! Just filled the forms in, got and appointment to take them into B'ham on Thursday. Do we have to sign one of the photo's, both or none at all!!! Signed underneath the photo space. Thank you!!!!
I went to the local Asian travel agent they did the work for me and I did sign in two places but not on the photos cost me sixty pounds , hope to get the passports back in a few more days, fingers crossed .
goangirl, all you do is sign under the photo you paste on the front sheet
