Have had my Kindle for about 15 months now and no problems at all. Still go to the library but I have mobility problems and can't manage every week. I can't carry more than 4 books at a time and they last about a week but as happened on Friday, I ran out so I got a couple more on my Kindle until hopefully I can get back to the library tomorrow.
But it is one gadget I would not like to go without
Had my kindle ages now love it no probs have a little light clip that I got from boots for £4 saved me a fortune, download lots of different types of books for free, it has widened my reading choice as well.
helenc, why not download loads of free books,it will save some trips to the library.Lots on Amazon.
Since I've got my kindle I haven't read one book on it Mainly because I tend to read in bed and am scared the Kindle falls to the floor. At Christmas hubby bought me a Vox Kobo So now I have 2 e-readers. If I sell my Kindle how do I remove my details so that my cc isn't available anymore?
Which kindle do you have,Glynis.I haven't got any personal details on mine,I set it up on my Amazon account.
Yes eviljock..........that's my worry but I'm keeping everythign crossed that this won't happen on it's 1st trip abroad
OSCARBEN - I've the Kindle 3g wireless thingy. I'm hoping to be able to take my name off as, at the moment, where ever I am with wi fi I can downloads books and they are automatically credited to my Amazon account.
You could take the kindle off the Amazon account,I've got 3 kindles on my account ,I just choose whose kindle the book gets sent to.I think that it would be easier than taking your details off the kindle.
Ah right cheers Oscarben
Glad to help.
Bought my wife a Kindle 4 for Christmas and she loves it. Since then, she has downloaded about 180 free books from Amazon all of which had a minimum review rating of 4 stars and bought about a dozen by her favourite authors that she knew she wanted to read.
I got a Kindle for Christmas, I know it sounds ungrateful but I didn't want one as I like a proper book, however Mrs Kiltie badgered me in to downloading some books and taking it on holiday.
They are just so easy to use, youngest son thought they were rubbish and laughed cos I got one, hubby got one just before Xmas and put some of his favourite authors on,and my son had a look again and asked for one for Xmas.He has realised that he can take lots of "books" anywhere he wants but only has to carry the kindle.
Got back this afternoon from two weeks in Spain. The battery went flat on me! Will ensure I take a charger with me in future but I did manage to read six books before it went down. Just recharged it so I can but some more books.
I always take my charger with me,had you got your wifi on,fwh,it lasts much longer if it is turned off, wifi not the kindle.
Back to a real book now while my hubbie catches up on the Kindle downloads. Overall impressed but do miss the artwork on the book covers.
Will use both formats. Think (and hope) real books never die out. Will probably be like vinyl which is now experiencing a massive resurgence.
BTW.......you can't turn on the kindle on the plane until 'fasten seatbelts' sign goes off, but no mention on landing to turn it off so I kept on going.......... is that right?!

No, similar to all other electronic equipment it should have been turned off, the cabin crew should have noticed when thy were doing their pre landing checks.
Kindles are the way forward for holiday essentials ! however, just a note, if you get the 'white screen of death' which is where your screen just goes completely blank, then don't chuck it in the freezer as my hubby did ( ) you just have to hold the 'off/on' button for about 30 seconds and you should be reet !

This is a great site. Sign up for a daily newsletter with the top 25 free books. Some books are only free for part of a day and so this is a handy email to get. Some days I don't fancy any of the books. One day last week I downloaded 5!
I bought one for my dad in January and his is registered to my account. I bought it a few weeks earlier so that there would be a good selection of books he would like. I keep downloading more to him and he has protested that he has so many already. But the good thing is that they were all free so he can delete any he doesn't like. The fact that all his books are stored on the amazon account meant he didn't have to worry about accidently losing them!

I have to ask- why did he chuck it in the freezer? Did he think it was overheating?
