yasus kala efharisto, essee' hello, good thanks, "eesee" ? and you
well done
sorry i dint spend much time on line last-night after driving for around 14 hrs i was knackered
lets try and catch up where i can..
MOO =me so moo katalli ena taxi is... me call a taxi when said in a complete sentence [moo katalli ena taxi ya stin Athena parakalo] it means call me a taxi
or when doing an introduction i may say somthing like this....
kalispeara me 'lenny Brian eeme ee eyuneki moo Jean
is I wish/want"Tha eeth-ela"
we try not to be so demanding so usually go for the excuse me [most Greeks especially the older ones are very polite sometimes to the extreme Cypriots are a bit harsher but personally i still prefer the friendly polite approach i have always found it brings its own rewards in service quality]
even these few words will go a long way come july...
Ive been on nights and so catching up on HT and OTL....then hoping to get some sleep....so yasus...tweetie
yamas everyone, this is very helpful, efkaristo
.my friend ( filli-mou) but only the female bit....

Female o'filliee moo

waiter is servitoros waitress is servitoree
example sevitoros signomi ene bookali nero horis anthrakiko parakalo [excuse me waiter please can i have a bottle of still water]
sevitoree signomi poo eene e toilettis parakaklo [excuse me waitress could you please tell me where the toilets ar
right im off up the frog to the rub for a couple of sow's be back later now if i can help what do you want to try... numbers, introductions, directions you tell me and if i know i will willingly tell
I think...
is there a Greek word for "lemonade" ?
lemonada, but be careful as often, certainly in Cyprus, this word is used for lemon squash too
thanks, might use "sprite" then
Yeah - Sprite works
if its with a drink [rum&lemonade] its me' lemonatha [lemonada] me' meaning with as Ady said if asked for on its own confusion can arise,
by the way i have not found proper lemonade on cyprus or most of Greece [did on Corfu] its usually sprite which is not quite the same
Strictly I believe it's "I want" - θελÉ or thelo
Correct!
And unlike our very polite way of asking for things as in "I would like" - mostly you will hear "thelo" or they will just say what they want.
You can also use "borow na" followed by the verb - "Can I" have = borow na eghow (μÀοÃÂÂÂÃÂŽ να ÃŽÂÂÇÉ)

Äαξί = taxee with the stress on the "ee" part of the word (see the accent above the last letter) means taxi as in taxi cab
Äάξη = tahksee with the stress on the "ah" as in "apple" sound (second letter). It means class as in a school class

Off out to sit in the sun with my Kindle
lucky you, i will popo out to the garden with a never ending cup of tea [its raining harder than i could drink it]
so if you need a taxi to class...
a phrase I use a lot in English is "no problem".. I know the word problem is "prov-lee-mo" and no is "o-kee" so would it be "o-kee prov-lee-mo" ?
whats the problem is Ti'simveni
now going back to what we said earlier about changing a positive to a negative we would use Then
so a problem is To' provlima and not a problem becomes ..... then provlima
[no problem would become provlima ochi which dosnt work]
reading words/lists/phrases helps but being able ask and sort things out really helps..
so are you saying prov-li-ma with the "i" being sounded like the start of "in" because my app says it like "lee" said quickly... prov-lee-ma
out of curiosity just googled "no problem" and its comes up with "kaneena provleema" and "Okhi provlima"... but as with everything I suppose its what is used mostly, locally that is what I need...
