There you go again Phil, showing some class. No I don't think Phil has fallen off the balcony, I think he is trying to float back to earth gently, rather than bump. Were the coven happy with their presents?

Dizzy

I reckon Philis overcome with the wit and intelligent talk that has appeared here while he was away,it will take a bit of getting used to.but i am sure we can all take him in hand and guide him safely to his balcony.
Iam just going to pour a gin and tonic and drink to him!!!!!well thats my excuse :!: carol :wave

Hi andylou,

pardon my ignorance...but what is a ding dong?!

In this context it means ding-dong bells...............Bells whisky!

I know a few jokes which have alterative `ding-dongs` but the Moderators would come down like the wolf on the fold if I posted them!

Good Evening fellow cruisers :D :D :D :D :D

Hi Vivien, Blackthorn time is it, I've not drunk   that in years - used to like Gaymers Old English myself (I used to buy it in round flagons, for about 2/6d). :hmmm :rofl :rofl :rofl (thats how it used to get me).

Funny being back and seeing Tescos and Asda in England   - I'd never have thought Mr. De Silva could have expanded his small willagama store into G.B. so quickly, :D :rofl these stores are certainly a step up from his Sri Lanka operation, perhaps the rupee is worth more over here.
:pele :pele :pele :pele :pele :pele :pele :pele :pele

The coven were not happy with table mats, I can get these is John Lewis was the plaintive cry, well go and get em for £19 a set or give me the money ! (I did not tell them that they only cost me 100rupees (75p) in Harrods Midigama branch - such a kind man that Mr. Fyade - he even gave me a discount as I bought ten sets).:pele :pele :pele

I did buy jasmin oil from the oil mill for just 35rupees a bottle (3fl ounces) I just gave some to a neighbour, who's into all that and she claims it is fantasitc and would cost around £20 for the same size bottle. Glad I did not give any to the coven, they'd only have complained - it was not rose or elephant poo  or some other exotic plant.
If any one from my cruise wqants some of the oil I'll be going back in July for a few weeks, I carn't go before then as I have a few weddings (not mine) one in Washington in May.and in Delft in June. before any of these I in Hospital in late April/early May.

I must get in step for the line dancing as well :pele :pele :pele :pele

Thanks for the offer Carol, but gin is not my tipple - I think I could get a taste for petrol though - the people i go for do not approve of the amber necture nor do the locals, bit like Sudi but every now and then I let my hair down. :glynis :glynis :pele :pele :offtop (sorry luci and Van) :bow

Where is that wine tanker juro

By for now I'm slowly working through the posts and many many thanks to all who sent greetings and good wishes, I have hundreds of phots, now all on CD so if any one wants to see what the NGOs are doing in Sri Lanka please send a pm and I will send you a few of the photos.

Hi Everyone
Welcome back to all our travellers.

Raych some of our cruisers are posting in the roll call threads with details of what to expect
See that you found Gary's,
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=261453&highlight=#261453
Andy (orchardweb) has posted from the ship
http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=270846&highlight=#270846

MKM managed to escape the ASA ruling against them on the HSBC holiday offer
http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/Adjudication+Details.htm?Adjudication_id=39627
But it sounds familar!

Phil post some of the pictures to HT they can show anyone heading out that way how things are.
They will probably go in the other destinations album, plus we would all like to see as well.

Peter,
Did you see the posting about another ASA hearing?

Hate to tell you this Phil but the start of my ruin and further bodies under the patio all started with my screen going blank!!Wine tanker still doing the rounds but no so frequently now as desperately trying to shed a few pounds before Malaysia in four week. Why does alcohol have to have so many bl**dy calories. and why doesn't eating lettuce give you the same euphoric feeling :hmmm

Hi Magsy
Yes I saw arkwright's posting, not sure what the ASA will say but I going to check it on May 4th.
Do you think we should send MKM this
'The Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) in conjunction with the Institute of Sales Promotion (ISP) is running a morning master class on the rules and regulations surrounding sales promotions.'

ASA re Sales Promotion

Anyone think they DONT need it?

Juro and Phil (or anyone else) post your problems with your computers in the computer section http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=53 (or here) and someone will help you.

Peter

Edit to shorten link which was stretching page - luci, HT Mod

sounds like all on ere will be off to primark seeing we are only allowed 15kg luggage, had toyed with the idea of a bin bag lol well it's light enough to get everything in , but think Primark is a deffinate as then trainers which weigh heavy could be worn out on the flight, had thought of going wearing everything so minmal in case would look a sight though. glad andy had a good time, can the same person use the vouchers twice then? or is it one cruise for a named person? if so , and my hubby cann;t have his cruise through work hmmmmm maybe another cruise for me.

Phil - your comments on my esteemed (though admittedly unavailable) Back Garden Cruise have been duly noted. I suppose your Balcony Cruise will soon be up and running again - or are you making the same excuses (or quoting the same getout clauses) that I and my ilk have so successfully got away with :?:

Fay (aka not Meeeeyyyy, aka not Yoooouuuu) :rofl :yipee :offtop :wave
p.s. Just a note on Primark: I thought I might be the odd one out in Primark clothes on previous cruises, but nothing could be further from the truth. I wore something I'd bought in an M&S sale, and as I passed a table a lady stopped me saying she'd got the same thing. I told her I'd bought it in the sale, and she didn't look the least bit surprised. People wear all sorts of clothes, especially on deck where the sun can be strong. Some clothes look quite well worn, and comfort is the key to enjoying cruising so most people dress with that in mind - even formal gear, because you'll want to relax and even slouch if you're tired, and anything that creases easily or pulls out of shape means you probably won't relax as much as you'd like to, as you may not want to look dishevilled. Now, with so many of our cruises full of £10-ers, more people than usual will wear Primark-type clothes, and none of us will feel the tiniest bit out of place. Besides which, it's not always easy to tell what's cheap and what isn't - not to mention the fact that some of the current materials look creased after 10 minutes or so, as the material was designed to - so don't worry, wear what you want and assume most people will do just that.
