James,
Totally aggree with all JimBox has told you on Coral Bay, if you have a look at my www you will find some pics of beach in Coral Bay amongst all the other stuff. By the way, if you like Chinese, there is a new restaurant called "The Coral Chinese" (very original name  ) which is in the centre of Coral Bay and in my opinion is excellent value for money and very good food!! £22 for 2 people; set meal with extra ribs, few Keos!!!!
Ummmm wish I was back there now, i've started my stomach rumbling!!!
Have a good trip

ive just booked my holiday for the 9th october 2005 for a week i always book diy coz its cheaper its costing me £636.54 for 2 adults including flights, accommodation, transfers and insurance.Im staying at the hotel kapetanios bay bed and breakfast can any one give me info on the resort, accommodation, mozzies ,travel plugs, vaccinations, water, weather and do i need a visa like turkey or just my passport thanx
Reply
hi the Kapetanios bay is in the Ammochoust district of Protaras you will find resort reviews on the links at the top of the page

Nearly £640-00 for two in a 3Star BB looks expensive to me at the end of the season nerver paid more than £270 each for 3star all in or 4 star 1/2 board with day light flights
the stupid reason is you can buy a package cheeper than just flights in most cases

Hi - We are going to Protaras on the 9 October for 2 weeks. Your hotel is at the top of the "strip", handy for everything - close to the beach too. It is also next to the Dancing Fountains Display - some of the rooms in the hotel will be able to see this without paying. A pretty good show with the coloured fountains "dancing" to music. Also next to McDonalds, not necessarily a positive point!. I had a few mozzie bites last year in October, but not many - I am allergic so often take a very bad reaction, but it was not bad at all in Protaras. You don't need any vaccinations or a visa to visit Cyprus. The weather is excellent in October - I have been the last two years and it has been fantastic!. The beach is excellent, with very clear water and lots of boat trips and water sports. The resort is purpose built with no sign of culture, but has a long strip of bars and restaurants. Lots of karaoke and Elvis impersonators but these can be avoided quite easily if that's not your thing. They use the same plugs as us in Cyrpus so need for adaptors. Protaras is a great place for a holiday - the people are lovely and there is something for everyone. Easy to get to Ayia Napa and Coral Bay on the bus. I can't wait to get back there. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!!

thats cheap if i did a package holiday it would be over £800 for the same place same time without insurance

Sarah,Protars is a fab place, lots of really great restuarants and bars,I would recommend Nicholas Taverna and Perla Blue but these are at the other end of the high street, but still only a 5-10 minuts walk away.Up near your hotel is a great Mexican called Chi Chi's and an Indian that is a nice change when all you eat is Cypriot but not quite as good as back home.
Mozzies aren't a huge problem but to be on the safe side start taking garlic tablets a few weeks before you travel and whilst away and they stear clear......
The plugs are same as back in the UK so no adapters needed, you don't need vaccinations or a visa, just your passport. The water is fine to clean your teeth with but I would always buy bottled for drinking.
As your at the top end of the high street you could walk into Pernera and it would take you about 20 mins, its worth doing at night but maybe a little too hot in the day.
We go again in June and this will be our 8th time, can't wait!!!! :yipee

Following web site

gives an idea of what to expect

Good hotels, good restaurants ....

An absolute must to eat out at Nicolas Tavern, also try No ! restaurant.

For bars try Love Boat, Rockafellas and the Sfinx Bar.

We fly out to Cyprus on the 27th July for two weeks, this is my first time! Staying in Protaras. Can anyone offer any advice regarding anything that we should see or do while we are there and anything that we should avoid. We are staying at the Tsokkos Garden Apartments. I would appreciate any advice.

Many Thanks
