We did do a lot of sightseing as well as getting drunk and stripping-off........honestly!
I just posted the self-humiliating ones first as I felt I owed you all that much!!
No time this morning as Jlie is giving it the "Are you on that computer again?" in my left ear!
Room service is not responding either................just can`t get the staff.
Pat, you drew the short straw on flight times for sure. It took me half an hour to get a cup of coffee at Malpensa, the coffee shop worked like this:
1. Queue up for coffee.............up to 10 minutes.
2. Get to front of queue to be told that I cannot buy one but have to join the other queue to pay first.
3a. Get the hump and go outside for a cigarette.
3b.Join other queue.............another 5-10 minutes
4. Get ticket.......then go back to queue No.1 and queue again........another 5-10 minutes.
After the coffee run was aborted owing to lack of interest I tried the "Fast-Food" outlets.................something of a mis-gnomer one mught say!!
"Fast food" is a contradiction in terms at that branch of Burger King........yes, it probably was faster than walking into Milan to buy the burger, bun and oven but not faster than watching paint dry!
Cruise..........Fantastic!
Malpensa Airport?.............. !!!!!!!
I wish I`d had as long as you at Malpensa, Pat........then I might have got a second cup! ...............and no smoking!! ....you must have had so much fun...........NOT!
Seriously though, I was expecting quite a lonely week, which I could have used to just chill out in a very quiet way.The way it turned out with all of you and the people who joined us, I had a very different time which was far better.
As for protecting me from man-eaters............THANKS!! I was very afraid at one point............I was `shepherding` our little Tiff at the Disco and at the same time I was being stalked by bunny-boilers!!
When Pat mentioned "He`s married", it didn`t seem to make much difference...........I don`t think she wanted to `marry` me!!!!!!!!!
I just don`t know how a shy person like me can attract so much attention........
Excellent photos! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing the rest now. Still haven't quite worked out who's who, part from Tony, Thomas and Aslemma.

I can't find a way to edit it?
Also Luci I have posted at the end of the Who's going where thread instead of here could you please move that posting to this thread for me.

I'm on my hols in sunny Sussex so not online too often.
Sorry to hear Phil has been ill. I hope he feels better soon.
It's great to hear the news of the returning travellers. I sounds like the Melodians have had as fantastic a time as we all thought they would have! Will the Melody ever be the same again?
craig.
Just looked at the pictures. I presume the photos of a half naked Tony were taken on a formal evening as he is wearing a bow tie! Who needs a jacket!
Yes Tony, Milan airport is not my idea of holiday heaven and I even had to finish up at MacDonalds for a Chickenburger and chips Still it was marginally better than a hamburger. I was particularly impressed when the flight was delayed. When I asked how long it would be for I was told some of the crew hadn't turned up. We did manage to make up the time however and I was home by midnight, thanks to my lovely son and daughter collecting me from Heathrow. I sent Lilac Labrador a PM saying I hoped she had got home alright and tried to express my degree of fed-uppedness in the time-honoured way, but the polite and delicate system changed it to say I was 'drunk off' which didn't have quite the same connotation - if only I had been drunk I could have borne it better.
I also don't think our little Dutch friend had marriage in mind, but I was aware I had to protect Julie's interests. Apart from that, all you fellows came as part of a set and no set is worth much if it is incomplete.
I've managed to see quite a lot of the photos and I'll keep persevering with the others. I really am impressed with the skills of you lads - I'm a complete idiot with anything technical. I have, however, posted my report (fancy me being first for once). I've covered a few salient points and left you others to fill in the interesting bits. I'm sorry you got stung with the excess baggage Tony. I don't know what mine weighed but it seemed very heavy, however the very nice man didn't even look at the scales and in fact they didn't seem to be working, as I didn't see any numbers come up.
I'm still aching (following a minor fall in Tunis in case anyone wonders) which has given me a good excuse not to tackle washing, ironing, or even complete my unpacking.
Talk to you all later.

...........or was it the Limbo-dancing Pat??
What a nice man he was in that Souk by the way........he was genuinely concerned about you as was the young man who tried to get the others back to us.
He did alright though as (picture about to be uploaded) I bought stuff from him and then Pete did as well!
(OH yes I remember now, I did all the heavy-duty haggling and got the price down from e60 to e25 for the 3 items and Pete swanned in and said "I`ll have that deal as well!".............nice one!
Pete's a man after my own heart!
When I went ashore in Malta, I tried to log on to the HT site but it asked for my password. Did I have a pass word to sign on originally and, if so, how can I find out what it was?

I'm flying back with BA to Manchester Airport and my flight doesn't leave Milan till 7.30 p.m. could you please tell me what the procedure is on the last day? Is everyone transfered to the airport together?
Has anyone done the organised tour to Caserta Palace in Naples, if so could you please tell me what you thought?
What was the most interesting place to visit in Tunis, either organised or not (I'm not interested in shopping)?
To those who are still waiting for their cruises I hope you'll hear good news soon. Don't give up.
Vonmac
vonmarc......... which airport at milan are you flying from? there are three! most people are off the boat by 10ish
I'd seriously advise taking a good book if it's for Malpensa... also it's a good idea to take a 'doggy bag' to the final buffet breakfast with you and stock up on danish pastries!
You could ignore the transfer and take the train (3 minute taxi ride from port to Genoa station) to Milan. The coach just leaves if any passengers don't turn up.
You would then have plenty of time to look round Milan, as well as perhaps Genoa too.
The left luggage at Milano Centrale Station costs €3.80 per suitcase for up to 5 hours, plus a very small extra for additional hours. (€0.20, I think)
I did the reverse journey and it's a pleasant train ride on an uncrowded train. The single fare is about €15. http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html
You can get a bus from Milan station to either Linate or Malpensa airports which are the ones used for our holiday bookings.

Pete's a man after my own heart!
Tony, see what price you can get Magsey's heart down to, I could be interested.
Regards Pete.
What`s a heart anyway??
Re: Internet Cafes, I used the one on the quay in Ibiza (connection even slower than mine!) and the dodgy geezer blatently tried to overcharge me.
I`d spotted the tariff and reckoned I owed only e1 or e1.50 so was a little surprised when he asked for e9.
I asked him to write it down and sure enough it was e9 and when I said no, it it less, he wrote down e7!!
I pointed out the tariff and magically it became e1.50. Hmmmm!
As I was only on there for a short time, I dread to think what it would have cost on his `special` rate to upload some photos!...........about 60pence vs £5+ is a big difference.

That place is dreadful - all the computers are infected with viruses also.
The best internet cafe was in Malta, where we used 2 computers for the price of 1 and it was very reasonable.

The swimming pools are emptied every night & scrubbed clean with detergeant, the next morning they are refilled with fresh seawater to which an odourless, tasteless chlorine is added. By 6.30am the sun is on the pool but nobody is in it. With freshwater showers beside it & freshly brewed coffee a few steps away it is absolute bliss. (get out of bed you lazy people).
Thanks for the sugguestions and informaton. Do I understand it right that on the last day everyone is off the ship by 10ish regardless of their flight times.
