Hi Hotrodder
Just had a look at your pics-I,m excited and we are not going till next year!!
One of the pics says 'family rooms'.
Could you explain where they are located on stevie's map (I think that was the name of who posted a layout plan many pages ago).
Thanks
Just read your review on the hotel site and noticed you had problems with ants also. We were on the ground floor (block 13) and had quite a lot one day, but found the hole they were coming from and put some shaving gel in it which proved an instant fix, never saw an ant again.
Nicky
tried blocking hole in the marble but then thay came out of the floor, think they liked toothpaste and aftersun!!
We thought we got the little devils because we were on the ground floor. Which block were you in, maybe my lot got scarred of the shaving gel and took a few weeks to make it up to your room.
I hear you had problems with ants, did you also have trouble with mosquitoes? Been to the Caribbean the last two years and been eaten alive.
Any tips for keeping the little devils at bay?
Sheila
4 weeks and 3 days to go
Hi Hotrodder
arrived home late last night, had a busy day catching up with concerned relatives and friends.
Will look forward to your review. The last one on the hotel is not good.
I feel really confused by the extremes of views on the Grand Azure. We have done AI in the Caribbean previously and found it works well for us, but I am a bit worried we may end up spending lots of money eating and drinking out if things are as bad as some people say.
Sheila
Anyone recommend any trips from the hotel, there are 2 adults and our six yr old son in the party. Are there any camel, jeep or quad trips? Would they be suitable for our son?
Husband also wants to do lots of diving. Will he have to go into Naama Bay or can it be organised from the hotel
I tried today to get some smaller LE notes for tipping,as i am going to have to leave tips in 3 rooms. I know you cannot change money at GA ( according to this site). I do not intend to off complex now due to recent events. Every where can only get me the larger notes 50 or 10 but no smaller ones.
Is it possible do you think to split some larger notes for smaller ones at the hotel reception. If you explain they are for the staff?
Just left my reveiw hope it is of help
I have just left my first revue after retunig from lti grand on 28th july. I am willing to answer any questions regarding same and surrounding area, hopefully as honestly and unbiased as possible.
Wasn't going to write again, as I have been there posted my comments and now its time to move on, but having read some posts recently, I thought I ha to say a word too for all those going out soon especially due to recent advents.
Things may be different now its peak summer time, as a lot more guests, But I would just lke to tell people, that I never once saw any dirty cutlery, my drinks were always cold, always had a hot shower and bath, even when running th bath for the kids whilst having a shower in the second shower. We could always get a speciallity restaurant and the pools were lovely and warm and not ever dirty. The only thing I agree on is the drinks service is slow and we had problems getting loungers the first week, but even then everyone had their spot and we all knew who was where so our places were never taken.
But having said this, I was just out to have a good family holiday and never looked at things too closely as busy with the kids, they had a brill holiday which meant we did also. But then again our baby was never ill and he crawled around the floor, swallowed pool water, and ate absolutely everything. So who knows.
Anyway time to sign off and plan our next holiday for half term, possibly back here next year.
Take care all and happy holidays
I would like to second your comments. We were at the Grand Azure last October and a few weeks before we went, there were a few negative review posted on a number of sites, but this did not stop us from going. The service we received was second to none, we had no complaints about the hotel, rooms, food, drink or staff. The only negative side (but did not affect us) was the entertainment. Again this year there are one or two negative reviews but there are a lot more positive reviews and we have booked again to go there in October (together with a couple we met there last year).
I would say to all those who are booked to go to the Grand Azure - people have different expectations, and believe me I quite like my luxuries and value for money, and I would certainly not return to a hotel if I had any doubts first time round. Yes - we all suffered upset tummies last year but I followed the common sense guidelines for a couple of days, took the medication, and was on form again.
The only dilemma we have this year is whether to upgrade to a junior suite and ultra all inclusive!!!
Have a wonderful holiday
Eirian
The new reports over the weekend are a bit harsh, but very truthful and I have to agree with a lot of the statements in them, it annoys me that I had to pay £160 to upgrade the room and I think this made our holiday better, Iwas going to write to Airtours but after the troubles it seemed a bit petty. By the way i've just got over this weekend the stomach troubles, had a really bad time last week, had to go to the doctors, be warned!!!
Nigel
I guess it just depends on peoples expectations along with what they paid. Just because its busier there at this time of year shouldn't mean the standards should slip.
We paid £200 to upgrade for two weeks for the 4 of us and that included the ultra all inclusive package and suite (which we were very impressed with and also we were put on the ground floor as requested, because we had a pram, and could just step out of our room and be by the pool), I don't think I would upgrade at resort as rather expensive.
Just read your reviews. Sorry you had such experiences on holiday. I returned from the hotel in June and couldnt agree more with your reviews. We had an awful week there too, suffered stomach upsets (to the point where I collapsed), glasses always dirty at the pool bar, drinks warm, service extremely slow, food hygiene disgusting.....I could go on!
The hotel is definately not 5* and I echo your words that after staying at some hotels that were correctly rated as 5*, the LTI is a long, long way off them.
Enjoy the sun, enjoy your break and dont expect too much and you will be ok.
Any questions, dont hesitate to ask.
Im a bit confused. The price the GA quote for upgrade is $10 per adult. Is this LE10 or is it 10 american dollers.
I returned from th GA on july 7th and had a fan tastic time food always hot plenty of variety ice cold drinks and very clean.
Yes we did have a few tummy upsets but nothing that spoilt our holiday because we took the local medicine straight away and kept taking it for days after to make sue it had cleared up.
We went away for a holiday to enjoy ourselves not to pick fault with every aspect just make the best of what you have and have a good time.
I persoally loved the hotel and we only had standard rooms which were more than adiquate and did not want to upgrade.
To all who are going have a great time to those who came back with complaints i'm sorry your holiday was spoilt.
Wil answer any questions
Marg
so glad to hear something positive about this hotel!! we're due to go on 8th sept from manchester and have been a little apprehensive since all the bad reviews began to be posted. i know i'm not in a position to say yet but i imagine we'll be ok especially as our expectations are now not very high
