No, the cabin was located to the right of the doors that you first go through when you board the ship. It was very close to "reception" area.

Looks like it's the Salamis Glory then. Can you book that boat through any tour organiser, or does it belong to one company?

We booked in resort, Protaras. :) May have Salamis Glory in other travel shops in Protaras, so "shop around" for the best deal, and ask them to show you, on the diagram, where abouts on the ship you will be "boarding". Good choice with the Salamis Glory, you will not be disappointed, believe me! 8) :)

Thanks Cromwell, it looks like our onlyproblem is going to be making sure we have some 'rest' days.

This time next week we'll be there - can't wait!

Hi Jannie! :) When we went to Egypt last year on the 3day mini cruise, it was £240cyp for 4 people-2adults £80cyp, and 2children £40cyp each. :D
Well worth parting with your money-we went on the Salamis Glory, and couldnt fault it. Sorry, but cant give prices for Flying. :wave

Hi, we intended to do the cruise when we went in August this year, but opted for flying as we were told we would actually have longer at each site. We paid Cyprus pounds 195 each, but could have got it cheaper if we had booked in the resort. As much as we enjoyed Cyprus, it was the highlight of our holiday, and worth every penny.

If you are staying in the Pafos area go to the 'Louise Cruise' office and book it yourself. The prices will vary according to the cabin type but you can sometimes talk yourself a free upgrade. You have to remember that the cruise is a mini holiday in itself, whereas the plane is only an A-B means of travel. Another thing to consider if you have not already booked your hotel is that for a couple of nights you will not be there, so you may want to go slightly down in hotel star ratings and offset your Egypt cruise costs, no use paying for something you dont use is there? On the boat option you will have an approx 3 hour each way transfer by coach to Cairo & return. This is taken out of about a 10 hour day, so it is a bit hectic. You will get to see some of Egypt plus the Suez Canal though, and the drive around the outskirts of Cairo is an eye opener. To be honest if the tour operators were to cut out all the cr*p, (perfume shops, papyrus shops, gold shops) there would be a lot more time to see the important things that people really want to see, the Pyramids (dont miss the 'Solar Barque' behind the 'Great' pyramid) The Great Sphinx ('Father of Terror') and of course the Cairo Museum (Tuts treasure). However it is only a taste of Egypt and it can never be anything more in one day. Regardless of how long you have, it is never enough, it will either stir a desire in you to go and see it all again properly on another occasion, or at worst it will be a pleasant interlude in you holiday. I fall into the first category and in 10 days time I will be in Luxor...........again :D

We went to Egypt on 24/08/05. on Salamis Glory. It was a great trip. we stayed in H type delux cabin and it cost £470 cyprus pounds for 3 adults and 1 x child. ship was great, trip was tiring but well worth doing only down side was the so called traders. thanks to everyone for all the comments on site.
we booked it through direct holiday rep, who matched the price of the travel agents (Thisvi) in Pernera. Not to be missed : :D :D

The first time we booked to go to Paphos we had booked a trip to Israel via the mini cruise. A month after I booked all of the troubles started and as a result we just did the Egypt part of the cruise (fair enough it was amazing).

Now that things seem to have settled I have noticed that Louis Cruises are doing Israel again - is it quite 'general' now that Israel as part of a mini cruise is ok?

Thanks

Hi Mill. You will love the Egypt trip....... very tiring though, especially if you are travelling from Protaras to Limassol, like we had to. Must have taken well over 2hours to get there, as we were picking up from diff Hotels etc on the way. We sailed on the salamis Glory..... top class. We had a basic room, with porthole, which suited us fine, as youre hardly in your cabin anyway. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and my 2children. food was lovely....... choice of a 3course meal. Prices on board were around the same as cyprus, which i was suprised with. Plenty of facilities on board ship, casino room, cabaret, swimming pool etc. The actual trip to Egypt was great... but be warned, youre up early1 Takes around 3hours by coach to reach the Pyramids.... we went all that way, so we decided to go into one! You actually see the Pyramids while driving on the main road, in the distance. Very eerie feeling. The Pyramids and Sphinx are right on the edge of the Desert... i always thought they would be in the middle of the Desert! The guides tell you what and what not to do, regarding your visit to the Pyramids etc. Take notice of what they say. You get a packed lunch whilst on the coach, but my tip to you is to buy some extra bottled water....... its a long day of travelling... you will never forget it though, i havent! If theres owt in particular you want to know, tell me and i will reply as best as i can. Cant right that much at a time in here! Louise xxxxxxxxx

On a mundane note, take a loo-roll in your bag when you board the coach in Egypt.......you may thank me for this advice later!

OOh, drandle, we didnt need a loo roll

We must have been lucky then.

Neither did I, but talking to other people who had used the loos on the coach journey to and from Cairo it seemed like a good idea!! Amazing how travel broadens the mind isn't it, when you have conversations like that!!

Someone earlier mentioned taking lots of bottled water and it goes without saying don't drink anything offered by the 'vendors' at Giza.
