Hi ann/joshua
i personally did not ask for the music to be turned down as when it did go quiet during lunch for an hour you could hear the tapping and banging of the building work.
we certainly did not go out there thinking we were not going to have a good time, and believe it or not we also had good company with friends made out there!
i do not believe all the tummy bugs are down to us all overeating and drinking - chance would be a fine thing at the conrad as im sure im not the only one not to have an appetite and have actually lost weight whilst there. Neither do i believe what the reps tell you about it being a change in climate - we were in dubai last august and tunisia the august before with equally hot temperatures and cold air conditioning and none of us were sick then.
I also hope all who are yet to go out there have a good time -they will not be dissapointed with the beach and sea, as i said before its beautiful. But that shouldnt be an excuse for the terrible food and drink being overlooked.
Our stay at the Conrad has been fantastic So much so I don't want to go home tomorrow and I'll be booking to come back next year as soon as I get home!
Maybe it's because we haven't made use of the hotel's services fully, we don't really 'do' entertainment, I'd rather get to be quite early and be up very early every day(that makes me sound boring I know ), I've watched the sun rising every morning of our stay.
I agree the food wasn't anything to write home about during my first week, not much variety. This second wek however has seen a great improvement in my opinion, particularly enjoyed the Tex Mex and Egyptian theme nights, maybe there's a new chef??
Yvonne, Tina and family, I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your hols, you all deserved more
I'll be back next year for definite!
P.S Rooms 3131 and 3132 are great, we're overlooking the sea, three floors up, at the end of the balcony so nobody walks past, no noise from music or building. Couldn't agree more about Clare, not impressed with her at all (see Dolphinella thread ).
Everyone has different experiences and expectations even when holidaying in the same resort. I always try to keep an open mind and can only form my opinion on my return. All I can say is that me and all of the party I am travelling with are desperate to escape the English weather, sit on a beautiful beach, swim in clear waters, have a good laugh and just relax!!!!
From reading past reviews I CAN expect all of this at the Conrad and for the money I have paid ( just over £500 for adults and £300 for children) anything else is a complete bonus!!
With only a week to go I am now trying to remember any last minute items. What a blessing we don't have to pack towels. However I was wondering whether hotel towels could be taken on diving trips etc.. If not it looks like we will need room in cases for a couple after all!!
Also still wondering if any one has stayed in inter-connecting rooms. Any info would be useful.
You can get towels from the pool or the beach, I took mine on dive trips so no need to make any space in your case, you can change these every day. Have a good holiday and enjoy the diving its fantastic, no real need to go far to dive as the house reef is superb, like I said in my last post a lot of dive boats come to it, but use Sinai Divers on the beach rather than Aquarius who come to the welcome meeting, Sinai are much more convienient.
Many thanks for your Posts and putting a little bit of confidence back into the Conrad ...
Yes Pippa some people are easier to please than others and individual expectations are much higher for some... thats what makes the world go around ...
I watched Holdidays From Hell last night and W O W ... First choice got a 'slatting' but for all the area's we know the Conrad are lacking, it will be DOUBLE PARADISE to some of the holidays people have been through
40+ Degs - Perfect waters - Glourious Beach... BRING IT ON....
We'll have loads more space now-two towels each for a family of five really does fill your case!!
Sorry my last post came up twice, don't know how I managed to do that (what a novice)
Looking forward to a bit of heat - our lovely northern weather here is cloud and slight drizzle. Bring on the SUN
I really think you should consider your options very closely
UK Mid August --- Temps in the Mid teens - cloud - drizzle
Sharm Mid August --
MMmmmm its a hard choice all right I think NOT...
Dont forget the HIGH factor cream and lots of it, apparently it is very expensive there !!

Now I really am in a dilema
Should I stay in comfortable drizzle or head for the blazing heat???
Well, high factors are all ready to be packed so I think the decision has already been made.
Thanks for advice on sun creams. One of my kids has bad eczema and can only use ceratin sun creams so we always pack more than enough just so that we don't run out. Infact we often return with some unopened bottles!! Better to be safe than sorry
Regars, Anne
We returned from Conrad on Thursday 4th August and after reading topics decided to add our report.
We went to Egypt with mixed feelings as we had never considered it as a destination before, and on the drive from the airport to the Conrad we were beginning to think that we had made a right mistake. The landscape is completely baren, just desert, a few unfinished buildings and rocks.
However, once we reached the resort we were extremely pleased, our room, 2147, was huge, a king-size bed, two twins, a lounge area with sofa and chair and terrace. Alright it was on the ground floor so no sea view, but it took less than 30 seconds to walk to the pool, where we spent most of our time.
The weather was fantastic, think we only saw a cloud in the sky on one day, and that didn't amount to much. The beach seemed to be a lot hotter than around the pool, so other than a couple of snorkelling trips, which again was fantastic, we stuck to our loungers.
That was a bit of a pain having to get up early to put towels on to ensure a space around the pool, but as there were four of us, we took it in turns.
Have to agree with comments made about First Choice rep, she was a complete waste of space, didn't have any interest in any of the guests, don't know whether she was different with those that went on excursions, thereby earning her some commission, but to us she was completely indifferent. She actually rang us in the room on the morning after the bombings to see "if we were still alive". She didnt at any time tell us that we could go home if we wanted to, not that we did, it just would have been nice to have been kept fully informed of the situation. I have been in touch with First Choice regarding her services.
The only complaint, if you can call it that, is the lack of variation in the restaurant. Could have anything you liked as long as it was chicken or sausage.
The entertainment staff work extremely hard, our two teenage daughters made good friends with Nathalie, Moe and Howard to name a few, and both have agreed that it was the best holiday ever, and believe me we have been on lots of holidays, including Jamaica and Maldives.
Those people who are worried about the Conrad, please do not be, you will have a great time.
It's nice to have some more positive reviews coming through I was beginning to think I had stayed at a different hotel! Teach - you asked about inter connecting rooms. I think they can all interconnect as we had a door into the next room from ours but obviously it has to be unlocked on both sides.
Many thanks for your report - The feel good factor is certainly returning.
So glad you have 'said your piece' about the Rep to First Choice... as I said in a previous post - this is one area that certainly does concern me. These types of reps SHOULD NOT get away with their incompetence and ''their emplyoers'' sould be held responsible - Pippa the HT Moderator on this board has virtually said the same as MANY other have. I will certainly hold my reservations, but dont hold much hope.
Regards
Gordon
I am soo glad some more positive reviews are being sent!
I loved Egypt and the Conrad. I think we went expecting less than we saw on the photos becuase of the price we paid and WOW were we shocked - we thought the pics didnt do the place enough justice! There were some teething problems (food, entertainment) but not enough to make me wish I hadn't gone there!
Nearly all 9 of us got stomach upsets, but it was during the first couple of days of arriving so I put it down too the weather/new food etc as I go to Turkey quite a lot and stomach upsets happen a lot there too.
As for the rep, they must have changed since I was last there. We had a guy called Ash and he was fabulous. I asked him about a water park on out first day, he said he didnt think there was one. The day after he came to find me to let me know he'd had a drive round the resort seeing if he could find one - he did, but it wasn't upto much... but I thought it was really nice of him. Also the boys wanted to quad bike in the dessert. First Choice didnt offer it at the time so he got them booked on with a different tour operator!
I hope that people still to enjoy the Conrad and I wish I could go back like Pippy next year... I also hope that the hotel is learning from it's mistakes, like food and entertainment!
We've found all the staff to be helpful, friendly, in fact we've never been to an hotel where the staff are as good as the Conrad chaps
It'll be tears for my Daughter Natasha and her friend Sammy tomorrow, they've both fallen in love with Moe and have been glued to his side for the duration of the holiday
I've decided I'm not going home with the rest of the family though, Doddy says I can hide in her room
I confirm what bluescrew is saying about the diving. we found sinai very good and the house reef is as good as any according to some of the dive guides.
Enjoy
Very good value apparently so pay them a visit
Have a look at the jewellery for sale on the beach, I had a very pretty necklace made today, cost L.E 55 and he made me a free ring too, placed it on my finger, then said 'You're now my wife'
Glad to see you had a good holiday pippy after all your soul searching. As regards the rep we didn't have much to do with her as we were there mostly for the diving so were able to occupy ourselves no problem. however she went around with what we would call up here a "soor puss"as if she would rather have been somewhere else.
STILL having a good holiday, back home tomorrow Will be on the internet booking for next year at the weekend though
Don't remind me about removing facial hair. Allan and I went for a shave and the bits they couldn't remove with the razor they removed with the cotton, even the ear hair. it wis murder!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good. We are going back 6th July next year.
So many thanks to you all for the re-assurance votes about the Conrad... and guess what the '' Tickets have arrived this morning ''
Pippa you are such a 'pastry'... or should I say 'tart' - these holiday romances wont last you know So glad you had a Fab holiday.
Just one question for those just back ... are the Italian guests still staying away from the hotel
