Well I'm REALLY looking forward to holidays now
As little kids would say "only 7 more sleeps now"
I'm pleased that so many people have had such a great time at the Conrad and have had(or are having) a super holiday
Thanks Kerry for the info on connecting rooms. I'm sure the kids will be so pleased that mam and dad can still keep one eye on them!!
Thanks also Altoman. A few of us in our party want to dive - I'm not so sure as I'm not a good swimmer but may, if encouraged, snorkle. It's great to know that even if some of us want to dive when others don't they won't have to travel far to do so.
We'll look out for your waiters Pippy but think I'll pass on the beard rip!!!!

Throughout our stay we've been aware of the noise of construction work in the background but I can honestly say it hasn't been an issue for any of our group. We can hear it on the beach but not from our room, I don't think you'd be able to hear it with the air conditioning on anyway.
Gordon, not only did I marry the jewellery man on the beach, I also became the property of a shop keeper at the Baron a couple of minutes walk away I was of course sold for the price of 100 camels
All but one of us had upset stomachs within the first 4 days but have had no trouble since so I think the theory of thermal shock (see posts by cnorris in tummy upsets thread) is a plausible one. I suffer stomach problems every time I go to hot countries, what I've experienced here has been no different to what I've experienced on every other foreign holiday.
My Son has eaten like a pig since day one and has had no diarrhoea or sickness...............apart from last night when the fool decided to drink vodka (he's 16 and looks older so I don't blame the bar staff)
If you want to snorkel off the Conrad jetty (you really should you know!), you can hire a life jacket from the hut on the beach, next to Sinai Divers and the beach bar.
Thanks for that. I'll definitely give that a go-can't be the only wimp in the group can I?
Enjoy your last day- make the most of it, the weather's not quite the same here!!!

100 camel's eh !! it that the going rate for a HT Moderator then ..
As I imagined you as most of the ''Conraders'' have taken everything into your stride and not dwelt with the smaller issues with holidaying in a Paradise Location !!! and more
Have a safe home

Just got a couple of quick thoughts.....
Not ALL rooms are interconnecting, however if you have prebooked with your TO then you should be ok. You could always email the Conrad direct to make a request, I know some guests who had good results by doing this. You can reach them HEREThanks Kerry for the info on connecting rooms. I'm sure the kids will be so pleased that mam and dad can still keep one eye on them!!
we found sinai very good and the house reef is as good as any according to some of the dive guides.
Second, House reef is breath taking, hubby became quite the little water baby and decided to have his first ever scubadive. He used Sinai divers on the beach as we had seen their web site before leaving UK an were confident they would do a great job, and also he wanted to see more of his beloved reef He paid £46 for a discover scuba session. A one to one with an instructor. She spent about 15 mins going over signals and how to equalize ear pressure. Then into gear and off down the jetty. She jumed in and told Murdo to follow, (he wasnt too confident at this point) When in the water she had complete control over his bouyancy but he was still alittle nervous and worried about water getting in his mask. At which point she told him no there wasnt and pulled the strap on his mask which then fell apart!! She remained behind him at all times controlling the boyancy thing(sorry Altoman) again he was nervous as he couldnt see her. The whole event was about 1hr 15min from arriving at center to leaving centre.
This didnt put him off altogether as I booked him onto the Aquarius dive. For £56 he was picked up at 1pm and returned at 6.40pm (half day trip supposedly !! )
They were shown a video on safety, signals and equalizing pressure the a discussion in the class room. Then into a pool to practice and gain confidence. Only then did they enter the open water. The instructor took 2 people at a time. Once the dive was completed it was back to the school for a de-brief and to watch the vidoe. More confident and much happier, Murdo had a much more enjoyable experience.
The moral of the story, there is no better reef than the Conrads, but if you have never dived before you may want alitte more instruction than was offered to Murdo. Sinai divers may do group lessons where they use the pool, but this was not offered on the 1-2-1 which seems strange.
In his opinion he felt the Aquarius trip was much better value for money.

We are off to the Conrad on 25th August, we are slightly apprehensive after the bomings, but what the heck, my Husband goes to work in London every day.
Anyway, my question is, do men have to wear long trousers to dinner? Hopefully not, then its more room for my clothes.
no one bothers to "dress for dinner " in the evenings much , not many of the men wore long trousers mostly jeans and three quarter length sportswear.
the only dress code as such is to keep a t shirt on over your swinwear at lunchtimes.
most women wore skirts and trousers with nice tops.
I am looking forward to a week of sun and drink, along with my books under a nice shade, especially since we will have no kids with us.
you wont be disappointed with the beach and weather!!
take loads of high factor sun cream - tina b tried to buy a 35 factor and they wanted £33 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also remember to take in your duty free booze as their idea of spirits is not good!!
I am going shopping tonight. What factor do you recommend? I was thinking of 30 or higher.
I have a long list, imodium, ant powder, mozi spray. Is there anything I have fogotten.
It depends on how easily you burn - my son used factor 40 and still got the tops of his shoulders burned - but he was in the sun a lot!!! I used 25 and 30 and i still got a bit burned. I would say at least a 30 to start off. Some days its nice and breezy and thats why you dont think you need a high factor but come tea time you are very sore!!!! My husband got away with a 15 and 20 !!!!! He still burned his nose and head though I would suggest a sunblock for your noses and a lip screen as my kids burned their noses really bad and we all had cracked lips.
Thanks for the info. I think I will just stick with Factor 30. I can't sit in the sun to long, or a go like a lobster, but that won't bother me, as long as the sun is shining and the pool is warm, I will be OK.
imodium does not work well out there so everyone bought diax from the baron hotels pharmacy and after reading this forum im sure you will be well prepared. Some people were unlucky enough to get terrible cramps as well as the "other" and there are tablets you can buy from there that releive this also.
Can you by Diax over the counter. Might be a good idea to make the Baron my first stop, just in case. Don't want to get caught short
Yes i think its 50le ( £5 ) per packet yellow capsules
Thanks for that. I will make this my first stop on the Friday, as we don't arrive till late on the Thursday.
ie how much is 50le and 200 le etc. im used to euros. many thanks lee
ps my travel date is 8th june 2006 and what type aircrft does fc use. small/ big ?
regards
You get 10LE to our English pound, therefore for £5.00 Sterling you would get about 50LE. It all depends on the exchange rate.
Dont' know about the plane yet, we are off on the 25th August, but we have booked extra legroom seats.
thxs for that. i get it now. so 500le is 50 quid. roughly. and we booked extra leg room too. worth the money for 6fts plus. cheers
