I haven't seen any since early June, they always get "burnt off" in the high season.

I have been to Ayia Napa three times now and have never used an insect repellant. I have only been bitten once and that was when I fell asleep on the balcony all night!!! Do'nt think you will have a problem!

We returned from Paphos on 27 July and we didn't see any Mozzies and none of us got bitten - I'm normally covered in bites.

I wonder if I still have my receipt for my repellent, I might take it back to Boots. We never used it.

Hi there,

Just back from a great two weeks in Protaras last night. I was bitten last Thursday night sitting in the Paladela restaraunt opposite the Love Boat 4 times on the leg, ouch (scratching now just thinking of it)!!! Doubt if the location had anything to do with it by the way. Nothing since. Speaking to the travel rep the next day on a completely different matter we discussed mosquitos and she said she had been bitten for the first time of the season that week as well, heard a few others mention it also but don't think there are that many to be honest.

A few years ago we were advised by another holiday maker to start taking Piriton or similar tablets before we go and throughout the time we are away as if we were unlucky enough to be bitten it would stop the reaction. I took the tablets with me but did not take them until I had actually been bitten, sure enough after about an hour there was no itching so could cope with them OK.

Hope this is helpful, but I would also suggest that you check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication, would hate to think my advice caused you any problems.

Apart from the above holiday was great, only black side was the reports this morning of the dreadful crash in Athens. Our thoughts are with those who perished and for their loved ones.

Hi,
We were there in July and found there were lots of mosquitos but a lot of people found there wasn't. We were bitten very badly. If i was you i would just take some piraton and repelant just to be on the safe side. I was drinking my favorite tipple white wine soda. Everybody was telling me to drink Gin and Tonic as it keeps the mosquitos away. Not sure if thats an old wifes tale or not i say "Any excuse for a drink eh!!!!!" :glynis
Have a great holiday,

We were in Paphos in July and didn't get bitten - we never saw any mosquitoes but as has previously been said, other people saw plenty!! - and felt them ! Get some Avon skin so soft Woodland Fresh dry oil (I think it has a different name now- anyone out there know what it is?) Also told if you eat Marmite on toast and take garlic capsules before you go..... I'd try them all - better safe than sorry... and make sure you take some antihistamines with you in case you do get bitten. You can also buy a cream called Antistan which you can use for 3 days to get rid of the itch if you do get bitten. Here's hoping you don't and have a great holiday.

For Ejbe , same here with the Avon Skin so Soft, spoke to someone who used to sell Avon, she says they do a range of sun cream and after sun that have insect repellant in it, would love to know if someone has tryed it without forking out the money for something that may not work!
Looked online at Avon and couldn't see the Woodlands one.
