cant remember which country we were in but..

I had not had a single bite for the first week and a half.. while everyone else was getting bitten more than a few times...

Now the only thing for sure I know changed at that time...I was using menthol shampoo(head and shoulders) that ran out about then (and everyone else was using their own shampoo)..

We go to Cyprus for the first time, second week in October (to Protaras).

Having previously been to some Greek Islands and Turkey (Kalkan).

It looks like it will beat our personal favourites of Skiathos and Kos :?:

Can anyone advise us of problems with mossies?, the missus is a walking food factory for them.

Also are our British electric plugs O.K. to use on the island :?:

On count-down

In my umpteen trips to Cyprus, I have never been bothered by mossies :D

...although my wife has, but only infequently.

And yes, British style plugs are used.

I never realy got bitten until May 99 which was about my 6th visit , ive found that they realy were a problem at that time of year , the appartments i was staying in were surrounded by tree s , very pretty but ideal mossie hang out , last year i went around the same time but didnt have a problem although my appartments were nt quite so picturesque.

There are no mossies around at the moment, a little to cool for them...but where we live they are not a problem, I got bitten more often in Scotland than here..

Hi there
As the others have said there aren't any mossies about at this time. I was in Paphos last April and didn't get bitten at all.

Dawn

Most definately, yes, but try taking vitamin B1 from now until you go. It works for my husband who attracts them like a magnet :x

Many do not realise that mossie are not the only insects that bite or sting here, at the moment mossies are few and far between, but there are sand flies at the moment and also ''Noseeum's'' as we call them here, these are more likely to bite or sting at this time of the year, mossies come later in the summer...but they don't normally bother me, big can of fly spray is the answer, or cover up if you are out at night early evening, not a believer in vitamins or face creams, you can buy industrial insect repellent here that does work, any chemist will sell you this..it stinks though but it does work, sorry forgot the name.

Weather here at the moment is lovely.. 8)
A sand flies many think are mossies, there sting is just as itchy!! at the moment this is the problem here on the island...

If you have the time left before you travel get in touch with your AVon rep and order some Skin So Soft, Soft and Fresh dry oil spray I honestly find this the best protection from mossies.

I took some last year when I stayed in Pissouri and didn't get one bite all holiday.
