I was going to suggest Latchi /Polis area also it is only a 25 minute drive over to Pafos as it is a lovely town with a great harbour with hundreds of bars and restaurants/tavernas to chose from, also it stays open all year Pafos that is..and if you know where to go also has very quiet beaches if this is what you are after...

This shot of Vardas beach is minutes out of Pafos and even less from Coral Bay, hardly used, it seems that tourist just like to fall out of bed onto the beach..

If you are thinking of renting The Appollonia in Paphos, I have a villa which I rent out at similar prices to the apartments at Appolonia, just a few minutes walk away and the pool is practically private (there are 4 properties which share the pool, but these are not rented out, just holiday homes and whenever I've been over there has NEVER been anyone else there!Nice!). Villa Christina is my property. It is very quiet and you don't have the chance of having the 'family from hell' renting next door or rioting around the pool. That was one of the reasons why we bought it, I was sick and tired of disrespectful people and also, fed-up of booking to go to a hotel and being disapointed or over booked and ending up in a hotel that we hadn't booked.

Many thanks for all the information and to lisa b. Villa Christina looks very nice and if I decide to look at it further I will obviously be in touch Lisa b. I may email you direct when I have given the idea of holidaying in Cyprus a little more thought. The pictures are great jimbox. I have to say that I didn't realise the beaches on Cyprus were so pebbly - are there sandy beaches or do people tend to spend their days by swimming pools etc. I like to watch the sea while I'm on holiday but don't like walking on pebbles/stones. Maybe I am being too fussy MyraLock

Yes we have very sandy beaches if you like them (personally I don't) Cyprus though is not known for truly spectacular sandy beaches, there are some in the Turkish held area and it is now possible to go there from this side now.
Coral Bay is lovely and it is sandy, of course the best beaches are in the Eastern end of CY if you really wish to wash that sand from your toes...

I am sure when you visit you will find that perfect beach, I know where they are but it would take far too long to reply...so get a motor and drive around..

There are some small sandy beaches in Paphos. I'm a beach lover and I love a clear sea to swim in!

Just a wee question, first time to cyprus and travelling in november. What clothes should i take will it be warm enough for bikini? What adaptors do you need electric wise.

Not sure about the weather but adaptor wise you dont need to take any as they use the same 3 pin plug sockets as us.

You don;t need to take an adaptor as the plugs are the same. Take your bikini as lets face it theres sod all difference between a bikini and any other form of swimwear is there and that way you can avoid strap marks etc.

Anyway tigerlily there can be warm days in November, but there can also

be very cool ones so pack a warm cardi or two as well I flew over on

18th November last year and just after I got there we had heavy rain,

thunderstorms and it was decidedly chilly We also had some very

sunny days, but not warm enough for the pool. Did get a light tan though

It has been a long hot season this year, the sea will still be warm enough to swim in.

Having said that the following storm is due in Nov.
26 Nov - El Mickness - W - Broom Strong Gale - lasts for 3 days
It usually arrives a few days either side of the forecast date.

Those pebbly beaches are on the west of the island (Pafos)

Ayia Napa has Nissi beach & Protaras has Fig Tree bay & they are beautiful, the best beaches are in the east, oh & the sea is calmer & better for swimming.

Pernera is a small resort just outside Protaras & it could be just what you are looking for. Cyprus is a bit pricey agreed, but eating out is not too bad, lots of restaurants do set meals for dinner, 3 courses for £6-£9, some even include a glass or caraf of wine with that.

Drinks can be pricey, but i'm almost tee-total, so not a problem

Personally I don't like Pafos or the west coast nearly as much as the east side.

The bus service is also very cheap & regular, you can do cheap trips to Niccosia (the capital) and Northern Cyprus from Protaras/Pernera & the bus will take you from Nissi beach, to Ayia Napa, to Protaras, to Pernera & into Paralimini for 50p!!!!! Its great value.

Well Pafos does indeed have sandy beaches in fact turtles breed on them, see if they will do this down in deepest darkest Napa area, I have seen all aspects of Cyprus and personally love all of it, I chose to live in the west for many reasons none are to do with sandy beaches, in fact living here most of us ex-pats never go there, good thing about Pafos apart from the beautiful harbour area as it stays open all year, so living here is a lot easier, as for the lager louts down in the east your welcome, but as I said I could just as easily live there as here in lovely Pafos...beats Coventry on a wet foggy October morning.....so they tell me!
