The kids half term falls at the end of October/November this year, so most of the package companies are running through to the 1st week in November with their flights.
Quite a few of the bars & restaurants are staying open all year now anyway.
Thanks for that. The date i'm thinking of going is the very last week of October actually flying back on the 1st November. I just hope the hotel isn't packing up for winter ( i had experience of this happening in Majorca one year no entertainment no food even the rep went home before us!)
is it quite or is there many bars and restaurants ???
have a wife that likes going for walks and nice bars at night and a 9 yo daughter who loves spending my money
stuck weather to book here or paphos or ayia napa
also looking for a 5 star hotel that caters for kids and has the wow factor
please help i have had enough of holiday brochures and a moaning wife
cheers
Stuart
yes but very mixed , and not sure where i want to stay, more confused as each day goes by...............and holiday's are supposed to be fun.....
we went on the 12th of october until the 26th last year, the weather was lovely, we had entertainment in our hotel up until the saturday before we left which was the 22nd of october and our rep did leave before us but there was a replacement sent, it didnt affect our holiday though but i suppose it depends what you are looking for. I would advise checking with the holiday company you are booked with, we were with direct holidays/airtours, they may all have different policies. As for the resort itself, it certainly didnt feel like it was closing down for the season, still very busy and everything was opened, it was actually getting warmer as well as we left !! and we are booked to go back the same fortnight again this year. Hope this helps
There is also the Aeneas hotel in Nissi which looks a cracker as well. You'll find them both in the Libra brochure.
Thanks for that it has helped in fact I have taken the plunge and booked it! Can't wait now. Thanks to everyone for there advice.
HI The basic rule is that when the clock goes back 1 hour there winter start, and that is when most things and places close down. We were in napa last Oct (great weather) but chilly in the evenings But dont let that put you off. We are going again this Oct To Napa. Have a nice hol
hi, i was wondering if anybody was on holiday in protarus the third and forth week in october last year, (half term) . i was there with my young family the first two weeks and we had great weather and although the entertainment was slowing down there was still life in the resort. we were quite happy to take our turns singing in the zodiac karaoke bar but don't relish being the only people in there! after all i need to hear the audience cheering as i make my way back to the apartment i keep having visions of blackpool in december..... closed and wet can anyone offer reassurance?
Hi there, we were in protaras 12 - 26 th october last year, the weather was still lovely and most places were still very busy, it certainly didnt feel like it was all shutting down when we were there, although the entertainment in our apartments ended on the 22nd of october.
thanks caits, think we might take the plunge now. we left on the 12th to fly back to manchester and remember the weather was really hot. we used to go to tenerife year after year around oct/nov but found the weather hit and miss. the weather in cyprus was wall to wall sunshine last year but an extra couple of weeks on can sometimes make all the difference as you head towards winter. pleased to know it won't be a ghost town too!
Before we discovered Cyprus we always used to go to Tenerife but found the weather there a bit hit or a miss as you say later in the year. Cyprus is definitely much better! Needed a cardigan/light jacket etc in the evening I (I didn't bring one becuase hadn't needed it the year before!) We will be going to Paphos this year in OCtober, but the first week this time so sure we'll get plenty sun!
hi there, thanks for your post. its interesting about the weather in tenerife as i believe its over rated. i lost count the amount of times it was sunny in the early morning only to go cloudy in the afternoons! we loved the cyprus weather last year and didn't mind the coolness in the evening. the other big plus was the friendliness of the people. we'd felt tenerife had gone rather gangsterous with everyone out to sell you something. think were going to the alva apartments this year near fig tree bay. just got to write a begging letter to the school now to release our two children for 2 weeks..... thats another story!
We have been to Protaras at the end of October 4 times. Last year was the coolest weather, as Meerkat says, it was windy at times but most days were sunny. The year before was really hot, and the other two years somewhere in between. One year our holiday ran into November, and we found that a lot of restaurants shut down at the end of October, so we had less choice of where to eat. On the plus side the beaches were not crowded and some boat trips were cheaper. We would go in late October again , but this year, due to work commitments, we have booked 11 nights in late September. We have never stayed in the Alva so can't comment. Hope you have a good holiday, and that it stays sunny for you.
I am staying at the Golden Star Apts in Protaras and I set off in 10 days!!! I am very excited. This is my first time in Cyprus and so would be grateful if anyone could recommend some nice traditional style resteraunts and places to go in the evening. I am cautious that some people have said that Protaras has become very commercialised and tacky and I really like to experience the real culture of the places I go to. Am willing to travel around to visit nice places.
Sorry I don't know about the restaurants but we are staying at the Golden Star in July, so I'd be grateful if you let me know how you get on while you're there.
Thanks
Gill
Of course, no problem! I have looked on all the major review websites and have only heard good things so hope I'm not let down
i understand from other users of these forums that there are places like mcdonalds and pizza hut etc, but i am also told that there are loads of tavernas and traditional places to eat. Try not to worry.
Have a lovely time!
