I started to take my own mags on my last holiday too(well if truthful my mum gives me all hers as she gets about 4 a week )They cost way to much abroad, and i found that it takes to long trying to find the shops that sell them too.
Kerrie
Have been shoping this morning and threw a few bits in the trolley for holiday and I had a brianwave
Pack all medicine, plasters, sewing kit etc in a tupperware box and then I'll have something when I am away to put packed lunch in, instead of having to wrap sandwiches in the supermarket carrier bags that I normally use.
No more squashed butties for me!!!

If anyone shops at the likes of peacocks you will know what i mean,When you buy your hubby's boxies(5 pair in plastic casing)I kept one of the cases and put my kids walkmans and earphones in it,batteries, ect (it has a zip on to keep them secure)This way it can go into your hand bag with no messing about to find them when needed.
Just got a plastic zip bag( from 5 pair of knickers too)wonder what i can use that for :rofl. By the way this is smaller than the boxies one
Kerrie
The plastic casing is a good one kerry. My husband brought some walking boots and the casing that they were in was of a similiar nature. Zipped with a little carrying handle on it. All our sun lotions and oils will go inside as it is easy to clean when we are there or on our return. This way we have a little bag of lotions and a beach bag with the towels in, therefore, they are kept separate, so the towels don't get messed up.
Happy hols

Also put liquids (sun cream bottles etc) into another one and when we are self catering anything edible (usually bacon) goes into another one so it will fit in the fridge and keep the food fresh plus the bottle openers etc go in there so they are safely locked away.
When you are travelling at night with children put their pyjamas in a small pillow case so they can use them as a pillow on the plane or in a car and if you arrive in the middle of the night they are easily available.
all these tips are great heres some more for you
put insect repellent aftersun on before you go to the airport as mozzies always get me on the plane, at the airport and on the bus to the resort.it also stops your skin drying out and losing its colour on the way back home too.
take a small bottle of false nail glue it is the best glue ever for fixing things i always use it to keep the soles in my shoes as the heat melts the existing glue and its great for repairing the likes of sunglasses.
take a spare washing line tie one end to bikini bottoms and clip tthe other to the boundary ropes in the sea then sunbathe on your lilo without ending up in the middle of the ocean and out of your depth.
take eye drops and keep in fridge over night pop in bag during day and if sun lotion or sweat goes in eyes this will take away the sting.
take two absorbent cloths and put them on the floor by the shower and one by the door so no slipping on wet tiles. hang them out to dry afterwards though or they begin to pong.
keep babywipes in the fridge they are great first thing in the morning and when you get back from beach to wash face and cool down.
keep them coming. lindsay.

...knowing my luck, I'd probably end up in the middle of the ocean without my bikini bottoms
The eye drops tip is a good idea, I always get stuff in my eyes once the sun gets hot and my face suncream starts to melt and run; got sand blown into my eyes on the dunes in Maspalomas a couple of weeks ago, was desperate to get back to the hotel to have a wash and sort myself out
My mate went to Gran Can on monday and she told me that she always takes a bottle of water, empties it, then fills it with vodka for when she is on the plane ( she is a nervous flyer!). I am not sure if this counts as a good idea but she certainly seemed to think it was.........
val and rob - snap!! I usually take a water bottle in my case with vodka decanted into it - lighter to carry and when arriving late in resort I can have my first relaxing drink!! Also take one in my hand luggage, but of course you're not supposed to drink your own alcohol on the plane..
If found by cabin crew it would probably be confiscated or worse still if found before boarding it could be conceived that she was intending to get slightly worse for wear and be denied boarding. Too much alcohol also is not good for you when flying - it dehydrates and could cause serious health problems.
Pippa
sensible advice pippa, but i think her whole point was that cabin crew offer alcohol for sale at extortionate prices and she just thinks she is getting one over them. can anyone answer why alcohol is available for consumption on planes yet is frowned upon before you actually board? It is an issue that always confuses me ( i personally don't drink before i fly as i have kids, passports and rob to organise!)
It might seem they encourage you on board but i have been on flights when passengers getting a bit 'carried away' have been told they won't be served anymore alcohol.
I don't drink much (About twice a year if that) (I'm a weird 20 year old student!) And when we're on a flight, the drinks are normally included. I say to the stewardesses that I don't drink and could I have some more water instead... they normally give me a few small cans of coke, as they're so small... bonus for me! And for them as I won't keep bothering them!

Much as i like a few when on holiday i've never managed to drink much in the air (even when it's free), makes me feel too dehydrated. However i more than make up for it when we touch the ground!
Where are those Ideas????!!!
Keep them coming...............This is the best thread on Holiday Truths right now!
Right, so i've just had a brainwave!!
I go away in 2 weeks.
You all know what its like ,2 weeks away, then come back to piles of washing and an empty fridge!
The last thing you want to do is a weekly food shop!!
So i have just done my shopping at my local supermarket online, to be delivered the morning after i arrive back!(Just incase i get delayed a bit!)
That way, a quick nip to the local takeaway & corner shop for milk & bread when i get back and i'm sorted!
You guys have probably already thought of it but just thought i'd add it on for those of us a bit slow on the uptake!
Now i just need a washing fairy..MMmmm......where do i get one of those??
why dont you put it in at the local laundrettes the day before you fly home i'm sure someone has already said that. personally i like to wash it at home and let everyone see my tan when i'm putting it on the line to dry!!!lol
lindsay.
Lordy, congratulations on winning Eurovision the other night!
didnt know what you were talking about as i didnt watch it but i've just looked them up what an ugly bunch. any way the names lindsay and if i bump into you in cyprus i wont be doing any singing thats for sure.
