Thanks Helen, when did you go, and did you have good weather?
Laurence
We went the last week of August last year and had beautiful weather apart from one evening when we had a terrific thunderstorm just after we'd ventured out. It was really beautiful and the next morning everything was boiling again.

I can't remember the prices of drinks at the hotel but they must have been ok or I would have noted this. The area surrounding the outdoor pool is lovely the indoor pool not so good. As for value for money I suppose it depends on what your paying - we certainly thought so. I don't know why Briar found it neccessary to use other beaches as when we were there it was spot on, clean with the water sports center more or else exactly where the "tuk tuk dropped us off". The beach cafe served decent food at a reasonable price. Beware the people that sell fresh fruit on the beach as you will be ripped off. The entertainment was a little lack lustre - the usual karaoke show etc. However we did see an Indian show which was top quality. The entertainment for the evening was always posted outside the restaurant in the morning, so if we didn't fancy it we just went down the marina -just a stone's throw away from the back entrance.

hey just one thing. Do people use indoor pools in summer? As anywhere I have been before everyone uses the outdoor pool and the indoor is normally closed in summer!!
Yes loads of cafes, but not many bars as such. As Tunisia is a Muslim country, very few locals drink so the choice of drinks is rather limited. They think that we all prefer fresh juice or coffee. They all serve lager which is very nice cold and quite strong. Also some of the wines available in the hotel are lovely. My daughter & I managed to get through 2 bottles of a beautiful red one night -much to our horror in the morning. Keep an eye out for it it's in a green botle with a handle I think its called Side Saiid or something like that. There is a large ship in the Marina which is actually a restaurant. We spoke to a lot of people who'd eaten there & they were raving about it - I think you have to book. Nearly all the shopkeepers here have a brother or father or cousin from Bristol LOndon etc. A firm no thank you is usually enough. They have beautiful leather goods but offer them just under half what they ask for & you can usually have a sale. My daughter fancied a handbag at the begining of the week & it was £40. On the last day she bought it for £8 & we'd probably have got it for less.

Can anyone tell me whether or not beach towels are provided or available to hire at the kanta residence. We are going for two weeks in June and don't really want to have to take our own beach towels if they are readily available at the hotel. Alternatively, has anyone got the email address for the Kanta so that I can ask them myself?
Thanks
Try this Neilu
I know that towels weren't provided but don't know if they can be hired.
Just checked the website and it says towels are available for hire from the shop, so that'll save me packing some. I need all my luggage allowance for my 3 year olds toys
only 3 weeks to go - can't wait.
Me 21 and my partner 23 stayed here for 2 weeks. just came back 2 days ago!! I had previously read really nice reviews on various websites and found it really lived up to them. Ideal location, staff great, minutes walk to marina, food very good, rooms spacious and spotlessly clean. Entertainment every night, belly dancers, African night, Indian night, Karoke etc.. Train called TUK TUK to beach every five minutes outside hotel (Tuk tuk is great experiance in itself )
the decor was very arabic in style and we really liked it. You don t come to Tunisia to see european decoration. there was a small fountain in reception with fresh flowers floating in water everyday. All the hotels we saw seemed to have the same type of mosaics and style. Marble is everywhere in Kanta and other hotels it must be really cheap in tunisia as we got a marble fireplace and we are still in debt for it
rooms very spacious and lots of wardrobe space. Bathroom and shower very good. Beds in Tunsia seem to be two singles put together. In kanta and desert hotel it was like this.
Laurence about the food
Food very good lots of choice. breakfast wide array of choice, croissants, pain au chocolat, danishes, eggs omlettes, cereals, doughnuts, crepes. Alot of choice Orange marmalade was the best I ever tasted. Coffee, tea and 6 types of different juices available. the juices varied from day to day. Really fresh. . Lunch ok only did it twice waiter service.
Dinner was very good. starters great, soup delicous. There were 2 buffet nights a week eg Italian, Tunisian. Then most other night you were given a choice of four meals and if you didnt want the choice there was a small buffet to choose from instead. You can see the meals before you order which I prefer as I am quite fussy and if there was nothing I wanted I just selected things from buffet. meat was well cooked and hot.
Desserts were really good crepes, cheesecake, tunisian biscuts, chocolate shaped bunny and elephant cakes, profiteroles, mini doughnuts lots of fruit etc list was endless and changes every night. The hotel caters for British, French, German, Eastern europeans and Scandanavians. there was always enoughfood for everyone. You d never starve here!! Selfcatering is also available in kanta which is ideal for famillies. though the hotel was mainly for couples and was very few children and teenagers.
We were in conservatory and non smoking which we really liked. We were set next to a lovely couple from yorkshire and we used to have such a laugh with them in the evenings. So the seating arrangments worked out for us. You can sit wherever you like for breakfast.
First week was fairly quiet but there was definately more people on the second week as high season is just starting.
The best thing about this hotel has to be the beautiful gardens and huge pools. Always loads of sunloungers on both pool and beach.
Would highly recommend this hotel and resort.
I nearly forgot for football fans the World cup is shown in "les fougeres" conference room in Hotel Kanta. And the Brassiere has closed down and an Irish bar is coming soon to take its place!! Should be interesting!!
Hi..... was looking for lots of info regarding the above hotel
Hi to mumtastic... Hope you enjoyed your holiday at the Kanta...Would you be good enough to let me know what the Kanta was like.......
read alot of your reports on the hotel kanta im booking tomorrow and i think im making a good choice my only concern was we have to have 2 rooms and i hope they are together we will be requesting but theres no garantee i have 2 girls 14 and 15 but one has special needs so they cant be in a room together so myself and hubby will have one in each room anyway can u take your own alcohol into the room as i beleive the spirits are quite expensive all infomation is much appreciated thanks chrisitne
Hi christine 06, Ive booked this hotel for next July for one week for 3 adults and 2 children 1 being 12 and the other 8. On booking we asked for the 2 rooms to be together because one of the adults is disabled was told its only a request and can't be guaranteed!!! Our request was low floor and the 2 rooms together because my oldest will be in the same room as her gran. All we can do is just wait till we get there to see what happens, and if the 2 rooms aren't together i will then speak to the manager to see if it can be sorted. I can't see it being a big problem with yourself with having a child that has special needs. Don't think they would be that bad... Book and enjoy. Haddy.
