Last time I went, many years ago, it was one on the main road (i,e past mcdonald) -

Where are the current contenders?

  I would like to know where they have good "measures" for the best Cocktails....... last time we went to Protaras we had a few Cocktails......... and didnt feel tiddly or anything  ........ do they REALLY put measures In

The Marlita Beach In Pernera was the best place for Cocktails..... or G&T or B&C....... now you DID know you had drunk a couple then  ....will be going back there In less than 3 weeks to sample some more, Im sure

This was last year - but we found Flora's bar, on the main strip, just near the Antigoni Hotel hotel the cheapest at 1 cypriot pound. Managed to try pretty much all of them on the menu!

 OOh that sounds good Maryland........

Were they good measures aswell....... or couldnt you tell after so many

I personally think Flora's is horrible - horrible surroundings and horrible cocktails -well, I had to try just one, but you can see why they are £1...not to be recommended. Louise, try Cheers and have a Cheers special if you like creamy cocktails - they are lovely!!!

:D Thanks for that Meerkat.......... does It have Baileys In by any chance, the creamy Cocktail ......... I love Baileys.........

 cromwell1 if you like baileys then try a slipperynipple...its baileys and sambuka...the fun bit is you have to put your whole mouth over the glass and knock it back in 1...... p.s. its only in 1 of those small glasses...

A Cheers special will have vodka, baileys, amaretto I think and probably kahlua, and chocolate drizzled on the inside of the glass... they are yummy, and Cheers is not far from your apartments so you will have no excuse not to have at least one!!! It comes in a champagne sized glass as far as I remember...oohh one would be very nice at the moment!

 OOh hevleigh that sounds lovely......... I will have to try one
of those........

Meerkat I shall definately look out for this Int the Cheers Bar......... and as you so rightly pointed out, Its not too far away from my Apts....... so I could always have a couple I suppose ........ well I will be on Holiday.

Hi
I know there used to be a hairdressers in Protaras, just as you entered the main beach road, mind you that was when it was two way traffic, is it still there, also is there a place where you can get pedicures or manicures?

Hi Trendiewendy, the sunrise beach hotel is open to non residents and has a hair salon and beauty treatments,i think you have to book in advance.

Trendiewendy,
Thant hairdressers is no longer there,I used it when I got married in 97 and she was fantasic, think it closed down last year.
I know there is one in the centre of Protaras bur not too sure what it is called sorry! there is also a place that does manicures ect,but again I'm not too sure what is called but its about half way down the strip on the left down a small side street.

I have used the same hairdressers and manicure place that keels71 mentioned and found them both to be good. There is also a hairdressers on the main road that joins the top of the strip that is good too - can't remember the name of that one either but it's not far from sfinx bar.
If you were over in Pernera there is also a good hairdresser in the Anastacia hotel which is open to non-guests.

hi,
never been to cyprus at all, and thinking of taking kids (14 and 11) to protaras (spelling?) in october for tgeir mid term break (15th october)..has anyone been at this time? is resort still open okay, and should we have fun time, hopefully with better weather than back home? probably wont go if near enough guaranteed wet weather and cold. any advice from seasoned cyprus lovers appreciated.

The Protaras area closes at the end of October and most things are still up and running until then.
I don't know what the hotels do entertainment wise that late as have never stayed in one.

Weather wise it's still nice. I was in Protaras until 11th October last year and it was still in the late 80's in the day andn dropped down the the 70's in the night. I've never seen rain in Cyprus personally.

You just missed the rain last year cardiff lad!! We did have some, and a spectacular thunderstorm, in the two weeks I was there (from 9th october if my memory is correct).

Otherwise weather lovely and hot, although a bit breezy and cooler at night. October is an excellent time to go, and Protaras is still busy: my kids are approx the same age shoestring and we had a lovely time. I have been twice in October and would definitely go again then.

As cardiff lad says, it closes at end October, but we have just left by then.
