Hi Steve,

Interesting question. Well ............... they have lotto and lotto and lotto.
Never even heard of horse racing in Bulgaria, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. As for bookmakers in Bulgaria, haven't spotted one in Golden Sands or Varna.
Does anyone out there know?

Hi stevie.

Just read your post, cant help with an answer, but I may know a man who can when you are in sunny beach if you get a hold of Nicky who has the football stall just up from the Mercury hotel (in the street opposite Captain cooks restraunt) he has a sports bar in Sofia and as far as I am aware he also runs an online bookies he may be able to help. tell him Robbie suggested him

Hi Stevie, There is a bookie in Nessabar old town accepting footie coupons, not sure about horses though. Right at the top of the main street up and off to the right. Photographed last year as thought this was unique.
I work for one of the national bookies and I suggest you open an on-line betting account before you go, then all you have to do is log on in any one of the many internet sites in Sunny Beach and bet on-line, with your winnings safe and sound for when you get back.

Hi all, have you considered opening an online account with Blue Square or some othe company, as they have plenty of internet access in Sunny Beach, so you can still have a bet while your away, Paul.

Me my wife and 15 yr old son fly out on the 18 september for 2 weeks to St Vlas, Sunny Beach from Newcastle. We will be staying at the Sineva Park Hotel. Its the first time that we will be visiting Bulgaria, but after reading up in the forums it seems as if I have left it a bit late in the season to visit, so I have a couple of quick questions :?:
Will everthing be closing, I already know the waterparks will be closed
Will there still be watersports available on the beach?
Will it still be warm?
Will we still enjoy ourselves?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

PS Mods please feel free to move this post to the correct place if I have put it in the wrong area, Thanks
Edit-No, it is in the correct place! Welcome to HT! thread title changed. Hopefully it will attract those members who have been at that time of the year

Hi and welcome to Holiday Truths.

Most of your questions are weather dependant. The last two weeks in September can be very warm, even hot during the day. Can get a bit chilly on a night.
If the daytime weather if not too good, the more things are closed, but -
Will we still enjoy ourselves?

Rather down to you, there are places to go to like Nessebur, Bourgas, and the various excursions on offer, or even get to know a friendly taxi driver who for a modest price will take you to the real Bulgaria away from the coastal 'Disneyland'.

Thanks for the quick reply Peter, I always enjoy myself as 2 weeks away from work can only be a good thing, but the youngun is desperate to find out if the beach watersports will still be available, ie windsurfing, jet ski's etc.
Glad to hear that the days will still be warm though.
Hopefully not everything will be shut.

Hi!you write that you'll be staying in St.Vlas...so,i live here the whole year and i can tell you that at the end of September you won't find what much to do here, but the restaurants and some kafes are still open. And still for Sunny beach it is season so there everything will be open.the advantage is that at the end of the next month St.Vlas will be quiter and a good place for relax.Because now it's crazy here!so much people...but it should be so :P

:D Thanks for the info discolazur_f, thats all I'm after- somewhere to relax, it is for my son, as you will know teenagers get bored very easily. 5 weeks to go now to my first visit to Bulgaria and I'm really looking forward to it. I was just a bit worried that there would be nothing for my son to do, and he is interested in the water sports on offer. Thanks again mate.

Hi..

I just heard that there is a Curfew in Sunny Beach (noise) after 12am/ 12:30am.

Is this true ? If so, is there still clubs etc to goto or at least something to do past midnight.
I'll be over on the 18th Sept for 1 week .

Thanks

Hi!Well not exactly "curfew"...Some weeks ago here was accepted a law that forbides the loud music from the bars after 24h,but they work, just the music is not so loud...And for the discos there is no problem at all:)The party there goes on as ever;)

There's definitely a reduction in noise after midnight however the party still continues. Mostly doors and windows are shut or the volume reduced to reduce the noise pollution. However where the venues are sea facing or enclosed there seems to be little change.
